Well, they made Fooly Cooly (aka FLCL) and Team ICO works there. Also, I hate you guys for not letting Team ICO out of the starting gate in this year's March Mayhem.

I heart japan because to me it looks like a place where people still have base respect for each other as people... I'm skeptical but still a bit hopeful that this is true and I would LOVE to visit Japan someday.
As for physical reasons, they produced the anime and video games which I grew up on and have based a few of my ideals on. Honestly, I look at Japan as this mythical land full of color and technology without falling prey to very basic very easy to solve problems which are only unsolved because of select people being total A-holes. This might not be the case as I have never been there, but from what I've heard its nice to think such a place exists.
Final fantasy, star ocean, and like every anime I know, thats why I love Japan. I also like their back culture and forms of manners, I believe we should take a page from their book in how to treat people and learning from our history. (not just the facts but the overall what fucked what up and how could it have not fucked that up)
for a more personal thing, the only time me and my elder brother EVER sat down in a room and didn't hate every moment of it was playing Super Mario bros 3 and I think black moomba? this one shooter I don't remember its name somehow but I remember us struggling to get past the third level for hours, same thing applies to me and my older sister over Sonic.

I like there's control and care for their fellow man. The vending machines for the disaster were turned on "Free mode" and there were almost no problems from what I read...

Now that'd never happen in the US because
A- The corporations are greedy bastards.
B- The machines would be raided in .5 seconds.

Thank you Japan for:
Atlus, Nippon Ichi, Mari Yaguchi and the rest of Morning Musume up to 5th gen, Ryoko Hirosue, X-Japan, Masamune Shirow, Ghibli, Satochi Kon, Tôru Fujisawa, sushis, samourai and ninjas, Aikido, Tora Dora, Clamp, Excel Saga, Ero-games, Gothic lolitas, and of course porn.

No thanks for:
Being so close minded, conservative, nationalist. Discouraging me from ever visiting of fear of being called a "big nosed red devil". Taking fingerprints of tourists, implying all strangers are potential criminals. Lying about employement rates and deconomic success by dismissing married women, disabled or homeless people as not really "seeking a job". Calling western games "shit" and refusing to play them, thus not being aware of the technological gap.

Well, I guess I love most of the stuff that comes out of Japan, but not so much the country itself. But maybe if I actually went there, I'd like it too. Maybe someday, when I've got money to spare.

I'm gunna have to give this a + 1.

I've heard similar stories.

A good friend of mine taught English there, and from what she has told me, they treated her disgustingly.

Don't think I've been a fan of anything Japanese but it's an alright country afaik.

Also, for the record, hearting something is encouraging it, not loving it.

I was in Japan just last year, it's a beautiful country, one of the most beautiful in the world. Places such as Nikko, Hakone, Kamakura and Kyoto were absolutely mind-boggling beautiful at times, and if somewhat distant, the people never failed to be polite wherever I went. Truth be told I never liked Tokyo much, but then I've never been a big fan of over-large cities to begin with.

Indeed while I may not be into anime or jrpgs, I grew up playing platformers and side-scrollers from the place and the culture and aesthetics are stunning.

I heart Japan!

I really don't like most Japanese stuff.

I do like fried rice quite a bit, but I think that originates from China. Could be wrong.

I dont.Personally most of the things japan has given us i find to be annoying.I dont like their games other than a few nintendo games. The cars they make are good, but europen cars are better.I dont like anime other than dragonball z,big O,and lupin the 3rd.Their film directors are good but i havent seen enough of there films to know.Their culture pisses me off,not because of the way they are,its because people think that its the "Cool" culture so they end up adopting that culture instead of embracing their own.

Their women are alright but everyone has different tastes so cant complain on that one. They're also the only country that i can think of that cutesifies everything which is annoying.Their foods not bad so i guess they gave me that but thats not exactlly much.I guess the only thing i admire thats come from japan is there drifters who are really good so there is that, but other than that i dont really find japan that special.

I heart Japan, because they had given me great time of pleasure numerous times via all kinds of ways - fighting styles, games, movies, literature, anime, art - everything. And I love the honour people have there, it's amazing.

I really hope they'll be back on they're feet soon again.

Japan is a great place and everything and I truly feel sorry for what happened to them.
But this applies: http://satwcomic.com/don-t-panic

ANYWAYS ENOUGH OFF-TOPIC!
I love Japan because it created all those spammed RPGs before final fantasy with games like Suikoden (the 2nd Suikoden game being my fave game of all time) and not because the game-play was brilliant (although it was pretty damn decent for the time) but the story of it was just... amazing, and a hell of a lot of those games made do have a brilliant story, I look through some of the let's plays on youtube and find the games make the story-lines of pretty much every game since then looks quite pathetic, and it's the occasional beauty storyline that makes me really love Japan and it's ingenious people.

I love Japan manily for their history. since about 1604 - 1853 they were completly zealed off from the rest of the world, leaving Japan was strictly forbidden and the ONLY outside contact Japan had was with a small ammount of dutch traders who were restricted to a small man-made island just outside Nagasaki. That also means they never took part in the enlightment age and while the west became industrialized they were stuck in 17th century technology.

Although 1853 the americans through Admiral Perry forced Japan to open up their country, snapping a kingdom thats been isolated for 250 years straight into a world of steampower, electricity, industry and commerse. The west they proceeded to more or less forcing Japan to submit to the same unfair trading deals that many other countries before them had to suffer (no tolls, foreign traders coulnt be judged by japaneese law, several countries were allowed to keep an armed force to "protect" their citizens ect), they basically became a colony without beeing a colony as strange as that might sound.

But while many countries before them (most of Africa, China and Indonesia) never really managed to break out of the wests controll untill much later, Japan not only managed to throw off the foreign influence, they embraced it to a point where they learned everything the west had to offer. From gymnastics and lumbermills from Sweden, to law system and ideaologies from Bismarcks Germany and Great Brittain. They fielded their own modern army and fleet, kickstarted their own industrialization funded by themselves (thats to say the people through taxes), wrote their own constitution and got their own parlament and prime minister and even managed to defeat the giant superpower russia in a war. All that and so much more in a mere 50 years.

Japan - a country in east asia stuck in the 17th century forced into a modern world, didnt stagger and disintegrate from the shock, but said "Hey thats cool!" and in 50 years joined america and europe as one of the superpowers of the world.

That doesnt take balls, it doesnt take balls of steel, it takes balls of fucking titanium, and thats why I love Japan :D

The language.
The band "Perfume".

What I hate is that some people who are obsessed with Japan don't even bother to learn the language of the country they want to have their babies with - they drink green tea, eat ramen and Pocky, watch anime 24/7 but never bother to learn anything past "KAWAAAAAAIIIIIII DESUUUUUU!!!1". I hate those people because they're douchebags anyway, but also because they make proper Japanese language learners like me look like douchebags too.

Also, hentai... *coughcoughcough*

Overall I am not very fond of Japan. They're still in denial over WW2 from what I've heard, and they've got a very authority-worshipping culture from my understanding, however this applies just as much to the rest of Asia, so I guess I'm just not fond of Asia.

However I also value human life, and seeing how Japan is in need of assistance, it should be granted to them.

I am also forever grateful for this. I have never before found a song in this genre that I liked until now. Thank you!

Also I heart Japan because they are very tolerant and of course have wonderful food, games and anime.
