You're missing part of my quote.Kuhkmala said:Again, you are mixing up the ideas of forming a perspective based upon past actions/ideas and the fresh perspective. He can complain about the game, since he is talking about how it made him feel and aspects he did not like or think were wrong. It doesn't matter whether the past games did things good or bad, its his point of view based on a experience without prior indulgence. He is not entitled to complain about the game if he is comparing it to past games fall out games which he did not play and therefore did not experience first hand.ThrobbingEgo said:Not really. It's more like thinking Shakespeare is bad because all the characters are speaking Shakespearian.
"I don't like Shakespeare. It's stupid. Why did people talk like that? It's written in, like, old English."
"No. It's not. You're just an idiot."
The quality of a game like fallout cannot be determined by absolute fact, it is personal opinion. I understand your feelings on the game and its series may be strong Rak, but that doesn't justify it as fact. It is another opinion along with the OPs. He has the same rights as you to complain about what he believed was wrong, without experience of prior games as long as those are used to justify his argument. The only justification put forth was how he felt on the matter. I'm trying to state this from an objective point, an attempt to separate fact from opinion and his right to speak.

Oh balls, don't remind me, that is the reason I tend to avoid civilization that I intend to leave alive after passing through. Also, that one kid in Little Lamplight is a bit out of line, saying He'll blow my ****** head off. He has a bolt action rifle held together with duct tape, I have a minigun. He has a funny hat, I have full-body power-armor. He has a squeaky unbearable voice, I have none.DalekJaas said:3. The voice acting is worse than oblivions, and that's saying something.
Whoops, missed that extra quote bit, and sorry about the name mix up as well. Considering the topic is entitled "Why i hate fallout 3", yes, yes he can complain about it being retrofuturistic. He doesn't like that genre, therefore he complains about it. It wasn't the entirety of the OPs review, just a part of the whole set of reasons why he disliked the game. Perhaps he wasnt playing it just for the retrofuturistic appeal, but rather for something else like the gameplay aspect or some other reason. I could complain that stagecoach is a western if I don't like western shows. But I may watch it because of good acting and some of the gunfights (or whatever is in the show). Now the gunslinger fights is a part of the western genre, but lets say I only enjoy select pieces of the genre and dislike the majority. Therefore I will still watch stagecoach, complain that its a western, but accept it because it is less important to me than the parts I like.ThrobbingEgo said:You're missing part of my quote.Kuhkmala said:Again, you are mixing up the ideas of forming a perspective based upon past actions/ideas and the fresh perspective. Someone could complain about Shakespeare who doesn't get poetry. What I'm saying was, what he didn't like, involving the setting, is what the Fallout series is all about. It's alright that he didn't like it - he doesn't have to. But to buy the game, play it to completion, and post about how he didn't like the idea of a retrofuturistic setting (when it's all over the promotional material, cover art, reviews, etc) it's ridiculous.
It's like complaining that Stagecoach was a Western. Sure, you're free to not like Westerns, but to fault Stagecoach for being a Western - it's not valid criticism, it's the genre.
So, no, I disagree.
...
And I'm not Rak.
