Because its patriotic.....apparently :D
I do find it funny though when Americans say USA is the best country in the world when most of them just haven't seen places like Italy, New Zealand, France, Greece, China, Germany etc

Every country has it's flaws and are far from perfect. The USA happens to have the most powerful military in the world and for that sole reason people say it's awesome. We also have the best form of government (a capitalist/socialist republic) and football.

I love America. I hate the people that run it. I always hate it when people say they hate America when more often then not they're meaning they hate the government.

For the same reason every other Empire considered themselves 'the best' during the height of their influence... which usually occured just before the inevitable fall and/or total collapse of their culture or nation. And yes, it's an Empire... let's not bull around here, they swallowed up Alaska and Hawaii, they're an empire.

They aren't that awesome. I mean sure I'd love to go there one day but meh. The main reason they are slightly awesome is because nobody will fuck with us while America is around. Besides all of the Americans I have met seem to love Australians. My mate went over there and they bought him drinks in an attempt to out drink him.... silly Americans and their weak booze.

Edit: And yes I hate the American government just like 99.99% of the world.

This is no hate speech... Just wondering, and it angers me when people say that they, Americans are the best.

Infact, by doing this many who hate America for it's stereotypical hate of ROE. So its the clone of that french thread, but reversed and for America.

So why do you think America is Awesome.

NO HATE SPEECH
Because we kicked your Kings ass and sent your soldiers home with their tails between their legs! Just kidding.

I'm a United Statsian (Yep, made it up) and I definitely don't find the U.S. to be anything spectacular. It's just a country, like the other 190ish countries in the world. I've never been much of a patriot and don't believe in things like "Better dead then red!" So, I guess I'm not the person to ask.
I'm not American or patriotic, but I believe that it genuinely is better to be dead than red.

Communism is the root of all evil. Without a strong structure of consumerism a la capitalism then there is a bad economy.

Plus I enjoy being rich. I'm a conservative very muchly and think that if I had to be the same as everyone else then life isn't worth living.

I'm American and America is just America to me. Guess living here for 21 years would do that. But we have our good and our bad just like everyone else does. We're just put on the center stage because of the media (who can totally go fuck themselves).

One reason why America is awesome is that we usually don't insult other countries like other countries insult us! Seriously, all of the insults I see on the internet flow from Europeans to Americans, not the other way around.

Another reason is that we actually like and respect other countries. We also like to help other countries.

America accepts a vast variety of different cultures, religions and ways of life.

We have freedom of press, religion, assembly, speech and the right to bear arms.

Seriously, if our country sucks so badly, then why do we have such a massive problem with illegal immigration?

Evolution is a lie! Charles Darwin himself said that there are no transitional forms in the fossil record. The following videos strongly refute evolution based on the fossil record.

The Bible is filled with scientific accuracies. The following are just a few examples.

The earth free-floats in space (Job 26:7), affected only by gravity. While other sources declared the earth sat on the back of an elephant or turtle, or was held up by Atlas, the Bible alone states what we now know to be true ? ?He hangs the earth on nothing.?

Creation is made of particles, indiscernible to our eyes (Hebrews 11:3). Not until the 19th century was it discovered that all visible matter consists of invisible elements.

When dealing with disease, clothes and body should be washed under running water (Leviticus 15:13). For centuries people naively washed in standing water. Today we recognize the need to wash away germs with fresh water.

There are mountains on the bottom of the ocean floor (Jonah 2:5-6). Only in the last century have we discovered that there are towering mountains and deep trenches in the depths of the sea.

The earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22). At a time when many thought the earth was flat, the Bible told us that the earth is spherical.

scripture assumes a revolving (spherical) earth (Luke 17:34-36). Jesus said that at His return some would be asleep at night while others would be working at day time activities in the field. This is a clear indication of a revolving earth, with day and night occurring simultaneously.

Hydrological cycle described (Ecclesiastes 1:7; Jeremiah 10:13; Amos 9:6). Four thousand years ago the Bible declared that God ?draws up drops of water, which distill as rain from the mist, which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man? (Job 36:27-28). The ancients observed mighty rivers flowing into the ocean, but they could not conceive why the sea level never rose. Though they observed rainfall, they had only quaint theories as to its origin. Meteorologists now understand that the hydrological cycle consists of evaporation, atmospheric transportation, distillation, and precipitation.

Light travels in a path (Job 38:19). Light is said to have a ?way? [Hebrew: derek, literally a traveled path or road]. Until the 17th century it was believed that light was transmitted instantaneously. We now know that light is a form of energy that travels at ~186,000 miles per second in a straight line. Indeed, there is a ?way? of light.

Medical quarantine instituted (Leviticus 13:45-46; Numbers 5:1-4). Long before man understood the principles of quarantine, God commanded the Israelites to isolate those with a contagious disease until cured.

Each star is unique (1 Corinthians 15:41). Centuries before the advent of the telescope, the Bible declared what only God and the angels knew ? each star varies in size and intensity!

Where did these ancient people get these scientific facts?

Kepplar, Newton, Einstein and Kelvin all believed in a God.

God I hope that you're being ironic... or aren't an American. Otherwise you are reinforcing one of the worst stereotypes - just blind ignorance.

There's a book I think everyone should read if they're actually interested in why some states become more successful than others - "Why the West Rules - For Now". It traces human civilisation from the Ice Age to the present day and then speculates on the future.

It's pretty fatalistic - almost arguing that people and nations have very little control over their long-term success - but it is well-argued and very thought provoking.

Fellas, let's keep the euro vs. america threads in 4chan.

US can range from the greatest of utopias, to disgusting poor slums.
just as every other country can.

Plus we have kicked ass in just about every war we've been in.

EDIT: We're all not religious nutjobs that will attack any foreigner on the spot. While there may be an abundance of religion in certain areas, other areas will say 'fuck all' to that.
Like my area :D

Hm...

Well, I dont know. Its a hypocritical country with its freedom of speech and this persecution of the wikileaks guy (though to be fair, I think other countries would do this if it were them. Or at least something).

Well, lets start with this. I'm American. But I've done some global traveling. And that stereotype is so untrue it makes my head spin. Contrary to internet opinion and our government's doings, we're actually really decent people. I would say what makes us awesome is that we have a wide diversity of people, and that we have a lot of respect for each other (I know, just trust me, the common people do).

Now, i wouldnt say America is the greatest country, but it is my home, and I wouldnt want to live anywhere else, cause I'm so used to this climate and region. Every country has its problems (some more than others), but I dont know.

TL;DR its not the greatest, but its home, and Fox news, the people you see who are trying to flame or are general dicks, and our government shouldnt be the guiding rod to what the average American citizen is.
