Why you should play fighting games

You're conflating twitch-monsters, tv stations that have standards that tolerate things like reality shows and Judge Judye and a million other trashy things and youtube viewership with the FGC.

Again, just because both sports use a ball it doesn't make them all one community.

Then why in the Sam Hell are they referred to as one community, namely the FGC and not "The Street Fighter Community" "The BlazBlue community" ect.

And for the third time, NONE OF THIS changes the fact that people like him are rewarded for their behavior, which is an indictment on the FGC, and on account of us rewarding DarksydePhil, the gaming community as a whole. These people stink up the place BECAUSE WE FUCKING ENABLE THEM TO.

That's just a broad label, it doesn't indicate the closeness you're ascribing it. It's kinda like saying "book readers", it doesn't specify the sort of genre you're a fan of. It's known by anyone inside the community that each game has its own scene and that most crossover happens between games with the same style or by the same developer. (so for example, SF people will play marvel vs capcom and KI and so on while Blazblue fans will likely also play guilty gear and fighterZ and so on)


And again I'm not rewarding people who I don't know exist until other people bring them to my attention lol.

You've got people, places and institutions patting themselves on the back for their "zero tolerance" policies that don't know or don't care that the next step was supposed to be actually doing something. Youtube and Twitter come to mind, they talk big, and then lots of people try to get them to back up their statements with action, and tend not to get anywhere, cause talking big is all you need to do.

Or hell, Google's motto of "Don't be evil." Presumably said with a straight face, and maybe they even believe it.

I used to be into fighting games but they require way more time to get good than I am willing to put into them. It basically comes down to the fact that I would rather sink countless hours into RPGs than fighters.

These two are my fav genres as well, and lemme tell ya, it takes a good dozen or so rpgs worth of playtime to get good in a fighting game...but once you do get good then you can play every fighting game of that style almost effortlessly and will instantly be at the top 10% of players on day 1 just from the general genre experience.

So while that initial time investment is indeed massive, it does pay off in the long term in what I deem to be worthwhile ways.

Zero tolerance approaches are idiotic. Nuance exists and you need human judgement applied to all things. I don't much favor this person based on the things people shared about him here but the less no tolerance we see being exhibited by society, the better imo. If it means letting clowns be clowns for clown-fans' entertainment, I'm willing to live with that.

Not sure about the animal torture thing though, first time I hear of that. Was he celebrating it in a "damn right I eat my steaks" sort of way or in a "dog fighting is awesome" sort of way?

No, as in posting video of mice strapped down about to get their genitals cut off with scissors and laughing about it. I didn?t watch the shit but that?s sure what it looked like in a quick google search.

He does give the impression of being a lost cause kinda guy.
