Will Xbox owners buy a PS3 for Killzone

I have a PS3 and I know the answer to this question. A lot Xbox owners have been labelling KZ2 as being between average and rubbish.

As he works for a magazine this reviewer probably owns all three consoles.

I was referring to many xbox owners on this site who have labelled it as Average to rubbish (probably without playing it). I doubt they will be swayed to buy a PS3, which for some reason is sacrilege, on the strength of Killzone 2.

To be honest, it just looks like a pretty sci-fi version of Call of Duty 4. I'd no doubt pick it up if I already had a PS3, but I'd still be more excited about FEAR 2 and Resi 5 I think.

No, because it's an FPS.
It's just an FPS. It doesn't have Jedi, tits, or Captain Malcolm Reynolds, so even if I had a PS3, I wouldn't buy it. I prefer RPGs.

Dude, if it had Malcolm Reynolds, I'd step over my own mother to get it. With Jayne as 2nd player co-op character.

No, but I am considering it for Killzone 2 along with Resistance, LBP, and GoW3.

Well I recently got a PS3 and I will tell you that LBP is great, Resistance 1 sucks (if you get the console, don't even bother giving it a rent), Resistance 2 fixed everything that was wrong with Resistance 1, so it is really good (except for the fact that you can only carry 2 weapons, that kinda sucks, no need to copy Halo guys, some of us like your gun invintories). Also looking forward to GoW3.

But to OP, no... no one game is worth a console sale. Now if you are like me, and wait a good long while. You can buy a console and get a bunch of good "old" exclusives at once.

I was thinking about it, not just for Killzone 2. But no, I don't think many will. I doubt Killzone 2 is good enough to warrant it and there aren't many other games to tempt 360 owners towards the ridiculously expensive now non-backwards compatible PS3. Even as a Blu Ray player it's not worth it because Blu Ray is so expensive.

Sony have priced themselves out of the market. All because they wanted the best tech, which has turned out to be a costly mistake.

I dont think they have enough exclusives to warrant the purchase yet, besides which the multiplatform games tend to be higher quality on the 360 anyway, with LIVE on top of it all I doubt that there is much to sway me towards getting a PS3 yet, I am open to the consideration, but I don't see many high, or even decent quality IPs coming out of the PS3's monolith

Killzone 2 looks OK but I'm not going to buy a PS3 just to get it. I don't think any game alone is enough to justify me buying another console. Seeing as I can get nearly all the games on my 360, I see no need to spend so excessively just to play one or two more games even if PS3 gets Portal 2 as an exclusive.

You sure as hell better buy a PS3 for God of War III!

Though I already have a PS3, and am getting Killzone 2, if I didn't and was considering getting one then Killzone 2 would be one more reason to get one.

Everyone has different flavors of games, some people probably did buy a PS3 for Killzone 2, others maybe have put it on their check list and are still waiting for God of War III or a little bit more games to warrant a purchase.

That should be "Will you buy a PS3 for God of War III". The answer to which is no, not until the PS3 has enough not-FPSes to merit me saving up £300 to buy one.

Noted, however the volume of these releases, though impressive, does not yet stack up to those present on the 360, also, quantity does not translate to quality.

I daresay that I don't take many PS3 fans seriously when they keep parroting about the supposed quality of Metal Gear Solid 4, a complete letdown in my opinion, in fact the only relevant metal gear was MGS1, Snake was cool, he didn't have Raiden being angsty in the background... and Vulcan Raven!
MGS3 Snake Eater came the closest to emulating how good MGS1 was, however I doubt any MGS is likely to snatch up that throne in my eyes, Time to step down Snake, Sam Fisher is the new king of stealth action.

This is not a slight on yourself mind, I just wanted to voice my opinion on the situation with PS3 owners and the MGS4 craze.

I'd have to play it first. And even then it would have to be like the best game in the history of the world to get me to buy a PS3 just for that.
