to be honest, the countdown timer it self is useless, so who cares if it doesn't work for XP.
I have Vista (yeah shut up) at the moment. I don't like XP ever since vista became default on new laptops, it just seems too old. Don't get why everybody hates vista, is vista crap with games or something? (not pc gamer)
It is heavy, the security systems on default are way too complicated for average users (Not me. But many of the people I know, they aren't really good with computers). Many compatibility with different softwares and hardwares (Unless they specifically state that they support it). For advances user I think thebiggest issue is the fact that it is heavy, demands lot of HDD, memory and CPU.
Reason why I never got vista (Even tho I could have it for free from my fathers office) was that my expensive audio devices don't work with it, and I ain't replacing them since there is way more money tied on them than there is on my windows versions. I got 7 as a birthday present and it hasn't failed me onces, and I LOVE the new problem solving abilities of 7, id something crashes most of the times i don't need to close the program. And the automatic update/driver downloading is just GRAND!
I am sad to see XP to go, just like I was sad to see 98 to die. But it is a fact that we are not to stand in the way of progress. No matter if things go worse or better, they must still go on, we learn from mistakes and from success. I am sure there will be 3rd party people still giving support for XP. But if people come to me and say "I ain't changing from XP, because..." then they are fools, thinking that they can halt the time and stop the world from changing. Fact is; either you jump on the train of progress or you get left behind, make your choice.
