The 'sandbox gaming' trend every developer seems to be stuck on, it's turning into a stupid gimmick. Seriously, I like a good story, something with value and creativity to it. Too much freedom leads to boredom (Imagine if they made Half Life sandbox?), plus sandbox gaming prevents canon sequels, or for that matters, makes them preposterous (remember the fail that was Deus Ex 2, especially compared to the sheer awesome of the first game? The developers couldn't figure out how to start the game canon, so they just figured that ALL of the endings from the original game happened.)

Giving the zombies guns in Resident Evil 5. I don't know why you would do that. It was just put there so they could show off that they could rip off Gears of War by shoveling in a crappy cover mechanic just like every other third person action game.

I would much rather have more songs than silly characters. I don't care about my characters. In fact, I liked the Tool background. I would much rather have just the Tool background and no stupid "storyline" or crappy characters. I want 200 songs. Not create-a-skater.

SNK fighting games are really poor. Dirty 16 bit looking crap. And i had the misfortune of getting a promo of the 3D incarnation. Bad, just bad. Though they did inspire the look of Crimson Viper, which was kind of cool.

I bet that was a serious wtf moment when you found that out right. Or maybe the fact that Lost Planet was actually a terribly structured game in the first place.

Agreed. Long, unskippable "tutorials" are the worst. The initial dungeon in Baldur's Gate 2 has kept me from replaying it more than a few times, because I get so sick of it. The academy in NWN and the initial village (forgot the name) in NWN2 are also good examples. And Oblivion, as mentioned, is a prime example.

Even Fallout 3, its not that long, but I don't want to play through the vault 4 times!

i'd put EA sports, but it's clearly making them much moneys, so kudos to EA for making something so fucking god-awful extremely lucrative.

also well done to the chap who decided to put lengthy unskippable cut-scenes before tough boss battles, forcing you to re-watch the cut-scene so many times it becomes painful. yeah, that was REALLY helpful.

Omg. worst thing ever. You get a target larger than your entire range of sight, and a Hammer of Dawn, with a conveniently placed "open" underground cavern. Cliffy B, you have sold out.

The visuals would just increase memory limit, only making the possible length of the songs greater. The visuals don't take much space. If I remember, the band with animation algorithms being 35 megs, while a song is from 25 to 40. Not much more space.
