Mega Man 2, Heat Man stage.

Jesus Christ, those disappearing blocks were impossible without Item-2. It's a level hazard you might expect from a ROM hack, not from an actual video game.
I just beat the other 7 levels and got item-2. Airman was easier than that, and Airman will not die [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUVdA9ABzpg].

In the Legend of Zelda Minish Cap where you have to bomb this certain wall to get the item to get through the stupid thing. There weren't even cracks on it! The only thing that clued you in were these two skulls against the wall and you had to guess that between those two skulls was a bombable point.
Oh that pissed me off too. How the hell was I supposed to know?

There was this one level in Call of Duty 1 where you had to go through a dam to the very bottom, plant explosives, and then go back up. Well, anyone who has ever played Call of Duty 1 knows what level I'm talking about and what a pain in the ass it was. Every single room looked exactly the same and while the first time you go through it, there are enemies everywhere to let you know you're going the right way, they're all dead the second time around so there's no telling if you're going the right way. I had already beaten the game and was replaying on Veteran and it was still hard to get through even though I had already beaten the damn level. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please share your disgust of that level with me. I know someone has to know what I'm talking about.
Heh, I know what you`re talking about. It was just stupid. Just kick me in the ass if it`s not.

Any escort level in a game to me is the worst level in the game.
I second that. People who need escorting die way too easily!
Flashback missions also tick me off at times. How can I die in a flashback? It has already happened so therefore there should be no way to fail a flashback mission.
I know! The darkness didn't make sense like that, you could die unless it was a cutscene, where you found out you couldn't die.. except that you still could. Very silly.

The misson in Gears of War 2 with the boat and the huge fish thing was really annoying, mostly because it was really buggy and kept getting us stuck on top of boxes unable to move.
Also the level against Scythe or whatever his name was; sometimes we started that level dead (yeah, go figure!)
You mean Scorge? Yeah both of them levels were frustrating.

I agree with Meat Circus. Crappy escort mission that involves platforming more precise than the game engine actually allows. After that, more absurdly difficult platforming than the engine can't handle. Not to mention the level itself will give you nightmares.

Atlantica in both Kingdom Hearts games. In the first one, you will get lost repeatedly, no exceptions. In the second game, just mute the TV.

Raining Blood on Guitar Hero III. That song made give up on Guitar Hero altogether.

Starcraft: Brood War, 8th level of the Zerg campaign. Even with Dark Templars, that level is ungodly hard.

That is the best way as all the enemies spawn infront of u so you never get shot at you just have to make it to the helicopter as far as I remember.

I don't know if anyone considers Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES a good game or not, but the water level in that sucks. Disarming the bombs and avoiding the other crap is irritating as hell. I played that level at least 30 times before I got it down to finishing it without losing a turtle.

cant remember which level but theres a level on rayman 1 where you have to jump across a load of platforms
except each platform is coded wrong so you can only land on the exact middle of the platform otherwise you fall through and die
took me a good hour to make some of the longer ones

Look up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane,

It's Air Man ***** an' I'm bringing the pain!

I got a fan installed in ma grill, no lie,

I'll blow yer ass off the map, g'bye!

On the topic of Mega Man, I hated Hornet Man's stage in MM7 - TOO MANY INSTA DEATH SPIKES. They weren't even fun spikes like in Jewel Man's stage (the best). Also, THAT BLOODY FLOWER. Probably one of the most painful mini-bosses I have ever seen.

I always thought the airboat level from Half Life 2 was just kind of weird. I don't know, but it never really thrilled me. Just made me wait longer for the rest of the game.
You have no idea how many newcomers that level has pernamently put off Half Life forever.

In games that I enjoy, the first level or three tend to suck big time. They are always boring and I've always done them dozens of times.
