Worst level in a good game.

The first one that comes to mind is the escort mission in Spartan: Total Warrior where you have to escort Archimedes (I think; it's been a few years since I've played it.) Granted, most escort missions are bad, but this was a special kind of bad. He'd run in front of you, try to hide in the throng of people trying to kill him, and generally be a complete idiot. I doubt I would've passed it had I not been playing on easy.

Any escort level in a game to me is the worst level in the game.

Although, I will make an exception for Red Faction Guerrilla though.

There was this one level in Call of Duty 1 where you had to go through a dam to the very bottom, plant explosives, and then go back up. Well, anyone who has ever played Call of Duty 1 knows what level I'm talking about and what a pain in the ass it was. Every single room looked exactly the same and while the first time you go through it, there are enemies everywhere to let you know you're going the right way, they're all dead the second time around so there's no telling if you're going the right way. I had already beaten the game and was replaying on Veteran and it was still hard to get through even though I had already beaten the damn level. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please share your disgust of that level with me. I know someone has to know what I'm talking about.

Mile High Club on COD 4. One minute, really? And it has nothing to do with the story.
well some people do it in like 30 seconds, so yeah

EDIT: And the military base mission in stalker shadow of chernobyl.
jesus christ you get your ass kicked enough in those games by randoms, but an entire military base of dudes with assault rifles just aint right. Of course i cheated it by hiding inside a baracks with a double barreled shotgun ready to level anyone who came inside the door.

the pile of bodies was so big...

took forever to loot them for ammo lol.

Try these [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ScrappyLevel].

Xen was just terrible level design. Also, the second turret defense in Half Life 2 was long and horrible.

Any time you have to race your shadow in Super Mario Galaxy playing as Luigi. Also that time you have to get through the lava level without being hit once. And don't forget the Luigi platform purple star thing. And the bomb minigame, just the bomb minigame.

I'm not a big fan of Hazy Maze Cave in Super Mario 64, to be honest.

The Fanatics Tower in Final Fantasy VI. You can't use physical attacks.

Phazon Mines, at least the first time. Tough enemies and a very long stretch to the next save point, with an electrified maze you have to go through before you can save.

All of the flashback level in Cod4 after the sniping section. It's especially bad once you get the the ferris wheel, where there's little cover and it's you and a cripple vs. pretty much the Ukrainian army. Also Mile High Club.

Call of Duty 4: One Shot, One Kill!

The silly ferris wheel one which seems to be the only one I could never complete on Veteran!
Drove me crazy that damn level!

The Bunker in Little Big Planet, just because it was extremely difficult to get through without dying to get the neon helmet.

It was a mission they had designed and intended to include in the game, but no need for it ever arose, so they added it in as an extra.

The level in GoW in which you have to fend off krill with a search light, I say the level is only possible on 2-player mode.

i dont know if this counts as a level but in skate 2 there was a challenge where you had to do an invert on a basketball hoop; it took me four hours!

Air's Rock, just Air's Rock. It's long and the music is annoying. You do learn Reveal though.
True that. I hate Air's Rock, but it is even more annoying that that continent involves two storyline relevant events like an hour away from each other in travelling. (slightly exagerated)

The worst level i can think of is the water temple in Twilight Princess. Grrr i hate water levels.
