Level 14 in Devil May Cry 3.
Going back to the Gu-Ru, fighting tedious enemies and just running back and forward over the same spinny traps until you've collected X amount of item X. Then you go back to the real game and have fun again.

Also, post 500, whoo!

The Fade part of the Mage Tower in Dragon Age. For some reason, one part of that just slayed me. I couldn't figure it out without some VERY detailed advice. Overall though, it just wasn't as fun as the rest of the game.

I'm normally only a lurker, but there was one level I hated from the bottom of my heart. The second blood line in total darkness in Max Payne angered me massively(wasn't it called a bad dream or something like that?). After some time I was so lost i didn't even knew where I had been coming from and where I should be going.

YES. Those nightmare levels in Max Payne drained me of the will to live. Following corridors which stretch out to infinity while a 10 second loop literally of a baby dying plays over and over again...

I agree with the Killer Croc level of Batman: AA. That level is pointless and absolutely lame. Plus it takes forever.

This isn't really a level per se, but sections in Assassin's Creed 2 where if you are detected by anyone at all, you instantly lose. What I don't get was, I killed the guy who found literally half a second after being detected and still lost, even though the only person to find me is now dead. It was really irritating.

The Library in Halo: Combat evolved.

I swear, that level was made solely to piss off the players who had up until now had nothing but joy. Interestingly the same applies for Halo 2 in the level 'the sacred icon' and in Halo 3 the level 'Cortana'.

It seems that it gets annoying in the 'flood only' levels.
can't agree with you more there mate. bungie seem to have a quota of one annoying flood level per halo game. best part of ODST was the lack of flood

ANY ESCORT MISSION! GOD DAME IT YOU FU*KING TARD RUN AND DONT GET STUCK ON OBJECTS COS THERES PEOPLE SHOOTING YOU'RE ASS ARGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *eats screen*

Hahahahahaha
that reminded me of the level in Cane and Lynch were you have to snipe out the driver of a dumptruck, while people are shooting at you, before it runs over some chick, and you only have a couple seconds to line up the shot.

i was playing it with a friend, and just decided to shoot the chick a couple times for stress release. it was fun. later in the game you can even shoot a mine that's right next to her

EDIT: OT:

Also I'd like to say the parts of Batman: AA where you're high on fear gas... you know the part.
Well when it first started, with you walking from the morge right back into the same room was sick, then the floor and everything got messed up. But it when it turned into a "stealthy" platforming section, it got bad. It happened way too many times too.
id just finished half life 2 episode 1 for the first time and had to do the bloody back and forth escort mission. my god the ai is bad.... they love standing on anything that explodes dont they...
god dame lack of friendly fire could just shoot them all at the start and be like er... it was the fat guy....

batman: aa rocked in my mind, i replyed most of the stealth sections and tryed to get the most assassin like kills love it :p
Hmmm... its been awhile since I play Half-Life 2.

Ya, Batman: AA was good. It was just those platforming parts with the gaint Scare Crow. It just got old

Last levels of Assassins Creed 1.
When they removed the stealth and it just became taking on waves of enemies.

Any missions with 1) Time pressure and 2) Escorting. Which is why deadrising was such a massive fail for me. I want to kick back and kill some zombies, instead I find myself doing stupid shit missions so the game doesn't fucking end.

Half-Life 1, all of the last "chapter", XEN. Dreadful.

Also, ANY dream sequences. Max Payne, FEAR, Dragon Age, etc. Whenever they just warp it, slow-mo it, hall-effect it and make everything surreal. Not just in games, in movies/tv series too.

Have to agree on escort missions, though it depends on the quality of the A.I.
Lost a guy in the open world RPG "Gothic 3" once. It was only a side quest but still bugged me. I didn't turn around for like 10 seconds and he was gone. Looked for 10 minutes, nothing. Then, after an hour or so he caught up with me in the next city, while I was looting a house. Scared the living shit out of me. But I had to chuckle when I though about how the A.I. must have gotten stuck at a ledge somewhere and then plotted a course through God-knows-where and finally made it. And kudos to the game for implementing this so thorougly.

Yup, someone beat me to Killer Croc. A near-perfect game but the Croc level was just horrible.

I never really liked any of the "Base" levels in any of the Contra games. They really should just stick to the side view.

The Body of The Many. Confusing level design, plus a variety of the most powerful enemies in the game... not very fun.

The fucking escort mission in Bioshock.

Silent Hill's sewers.

The hospital in Silent Hill 3

Xen, of course.

The Modron Maze (getting Nordom makes it worth it, though)

I think the entire Operation: Anchorage expansion counts for Fallout 3.
I agree. Just terrible. First time I played it I had 0 small guns skill and was high level. Took like a full clip in the head to kill a Chinese soldier. Stupid.

The zombie level in Uncharted 1. That pissed me off, especially when They mauled me when I had to spent 30 seconds reloading the MP-40. Oh, and the infinite-spawn zombies at one point. Let's face it, Uncharted wasn't supposed to be a survival horror game.
