Or he may just be a normal person who just happens to not like the film, people think I'm strange for not liking Apocalypse Now or 2001: Space Odyssey. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. :/
2001: A Space Odyssey wasn't even a movie. Nothing happened I can see enjoying it as a purely visual work, because in that respect it's amazing, but I expected a bit more 'movie' and less 'art gallery'.
Oh my god.
THANK YOU!!
That movie is fucking awful! I watched about 3/4 of the way through and I couldn't take it any longer, I've seen the HAL part of the movie parodied so many times that I know what I missed, nothing worth re-watching that movie. I'm sure that it was a great movie for back then, when special effects were new, but it just doesn't stand the test of time. I expected it to be great but it was just terrible.
2001 is easily one of the greatest movies ever made. Obviously it just went right over your heads.
Sarcasm? I can never tell with you.
Anyway, on the back of the box it said "Watch the plot leap millenea ahead through one of the most dramatic transition sequences ever." and this is the scene they touted as so genius:
WHAT!? All they did was cut directly from a bone to spaceship! I was expecting some sort of fade-in or at least for the shot to be lined-up correctly, that was just sloppy cinematography. I understand the underlying themes of the movie, but christ couldn't they make it less boring, and I don't mean more explosions or nudity, I mean make shit actually happen before the last half hour of the movie.
