Those really close stages in Virtua Fighter 5 where your backs are about 2 inches from the wall. Whoever lands the first hit will usually win it. How someone screws up a fighting game map is a mystery to me.

Simple question, what in your opinion is the absolute worst map of all time. It can be from any game, as long as it's from multiplayer. So no water temples or Halo 3 flood levels in here.

As for me, I really, REALLY hate Nuketown from Black Ops. It was simply terrible, with it being incredibly small it meant there was a TON of grenade spam and it made for an overall crap time.
Nuketown is awesome... if you're doing couch based multiplayer with four people. I can see it being /terrible/ for online.

OT: CTF_Turbine in TF2. It's set up in such a way that one engie can shut down gameplay for the entire other team, and two engies can shut down the map for both teams. Everyone complains about 2Fort, but at least that has two or three paths through the big open area. Turbine just has the one. It winds up being mind-numbingly boring because everything grinds down to a halt once the engies get going.

Any map in MW3. It makes you wonder whether anyone at the dev studio had the slightest clue about map design.
This x1000. God that game was a joke.

Anyway, other maps I can't stand include Hotel, Hangar 18, and Hanoi from Black Ops. The dreaded "H" maps I tell you.

There is no hell worse than Pyramid.

Oh yes, you will get stun locked by noobs who do nothing but cling to the walls and heavy span with their tails. You will get knocked down and poked to death by a trio of Praetorians running side by side on the ceiling, who all poke you at once, and kill you instantly. You will lose to those people, and you will see red.

Screw this map. No video or image can encapsulate my hate for it.

In a word: Broken.

*stifled giggle*

Thats actually one of my favorites...

Anyways, I basically hate most of MW2, So Ill just say the two maps I actually enjoy, Rust and Skidrow.

Blops: Array, mainly on domination type games.

MW3: Basically the same as MW2, so I mostly only care for Arkadia.

BF3: Any map that has the attackers starting from a ship and having to "storm the beach".

Mcgehans (SP?) War, on Company of Heroes. An extremely large map with masses of hedges, limiting mobility far too much, making the game into a cluster fuck which is just boring.
I once got stuck on that map in my own base, and managed to kill something like, 200 vehicles over the course of 2 hours.

Finally I decided that the stalemate was unbreakable and quit.

2Fort: I just didn't like the gameplay or layout of this map, can't put my finger on why.
2Fort is one of the greatest maps ever created for any game. It's so perfect.

OT: CoD4's Shipment.

YOU CANT SPAWN WITHOUT BEING SHOT, IT'S SO SMALL, AN AIRSTRIKE WILL HIT EVERY SQUARE INCH.

Nuketown? Pft. Shipment is where it's at.
Terrible map, but how much fun I had with it.

Captcha: Face to face. Indeed.
Structure of that map seriously reminds me fy_snow from Counterstrike, just without the stairs.

For me, I would say its Servants Quarters from Dungeon Defenders.
Spawns are wide spread and many, corridors and short, crooked, and tight without proper place to build and for all that you only get 85 defense units available.

Metro from BF3 is damn horrible for both sides. Boring for the russians and frustrating for the Americans. But I hate BF3 anyways, what with the overlong respawns rubbing it in every time you die, but Metro was a terrible map all the same.

BF3: All Close Quarters maps. Shouldn't need explaining, 32/64 players is just a giant toss-up of random bullets, suppression, blindly throwing explosives (you're bound to kill someone), no skill/tactics involved and the terrible netcode/lag making everything 50,000 times worse. It's not the map design as much as BF3's gameplay simply not being built with reflex-based, aimed shooting in mind.

BF3: Metro. It's a long linear sausage with 2-3 chokepoints for 64 players spamming M320/grenades/RPG's. Defies the very concept of open-world gaming that Battlefield was about.

BF3: Seine Crossing. It's a whole series of linear sausages basically making for the same rubbish choke-points, except now you have tanks/BMPs/LAVs playing peek-a-boo around the corners, invincible thanks to multiple engineers on repair duty on the damn thing. Just a gigantic campfest of shooting from windows all day. Fun fun fun!

WoW: Isle of Conquest. The majority of the playerbase had given absolute terrrible feedback on Wintergrasp and Strand of the Ancients due to the terrible vehicle warfare, and what did Blizzard do? Introduced a 40-man BG relying on vehicles. The cocaine bucket must've run dry at Blizz HQ.

64 players, almost-insta spawn, free for all, grenade/rocket/helicopter/last stand/martyrdom spamming fun fest.

They are all awful. Absolutely terrible.

Just about every map in Black Ops I found boring, and just about every map in MW3 I found boring and shit.

I thought MW2 had some cool maps, the retarded ass 'balance' and killstreak crap made them seem sucky. For instance Wasteland is based off an awesome map from the original CoD, but sucks balls compared to the original mainly because of it being made up of 95% open fields extremely vulnerable to snipers and airstrikes, with the rest essentially being untouchable little camping spots.

Reach has some big issues with weapon placement, particularly on Pinnacle where one team gets early access to the shotgun, rockets and a sniper rifle pretty much right in their spawn, while the other team gets another sniper rifle which tucked away in one of the most grenade vulnerable areas of the map.
Fair game, fuck yeah.

All the maps in BF3 in which the US starts off on a carrier have the potential to be among the most fucking retarded things in history, thanks to the damn genius douchebag who thought that having superpowered vehicle mounted guided weapons in the game was a good idea. And the damn things can be buffed by that laser designation crap. Shit man, I know it actually makes Recon useful for something but damn...
Funny how DICE seems to be preoccupied with nerfing the SHIT out of anything already in the game thats unbalanced, however they managed to have all this stupid instant-tank-cripple homing missile and whatnot crap in the thing in the first place.

Isolation from Halo 3 was pretty bad. I always vetoed it because it was just boring, and way too small. Guardian was also really annoying, and way too small.
Now onto a lesser known game; Doppelgangers from Sins of a Solar Empire. Its 4 identical star systems, with a faction in each, and the only way to get to the opponents system is through the Star in the center of it. However, stars can have up to 4 (5 if you're TEC loyalist) starbases built around it. This becomes massively OP if you're playing as Advent, because then you just max out the squadrons and end up with 400 bombers around a single star. As soon as the enemy jumps in a capital ship- hell, even a titan- it gets ripped to shreds because there is nothing in the game which can beat 400 bombers at once.

I really enjoyed Shipment, Overgrown and a load of the COD4, MW2 and MW3 maps that are being mentioned. They changed the game a bit and I always did really well on those maps. The spawns aren't as bad as people say they are. It's quick, lively and with some skill, can net some good scores. Especially in COD4, as the killstreaks were set - changing that is probably my least favourite aspect of COD.

I do hate Metro on BF3 when you spawn on the side that's furthest away from the middle. It's almost impossible to flank at that point, and people just stand in that corridor and throw grenades down there. It's alright ifyou chucan ammobox onthe floor though, that gets the points.

I disagree on your point on Nuketown. It was so small, it was meant to be a joke. The entire map is based on not taking the game seriously, a concept Call of Duty should look into more.

Anyway, I nominate Sword Base from Halo Reach. The map was absurdly biased towards jetpackers, and anybody with Armor Lock and an Energy Sword could camp in the lift room ad infinium with no serious threats whatsoever.
Couldn't agree more with either statement. I loved maps like Nuketown because the small vicinity, constantly shifting spawn points, and large amount of nade spamming made it hard to camp (at least for extended periods). On the other side of the spectrum, Sword Base was one of the most camp happy maps I've been in. And you just know that it's the first thing MLG players will all queue up to vote for.

Runner up is the Metro map for BF3 during conquest. Short of having severely mismatched teams in your favor, the layout of the level almost always assures that whichever team spawns on the high ground will always win because it's just so damn easy to defend.
