Sure. i would especially like it if it was done in a humorous way (like a 'cockslap attack' in a MMORPG or something. :p) xx

If it's an HBO-Showtime sort of vibe where the protagonist's sexual orientation has more to do with the developer's pretentiousness quota than a statement about our culture, no.

Otherwise, yes and yawn.

So long as the character isn't defined solely by their sexuality I have no problem with it. Just like real life.

Anyone in the real world who acts like a flaming gay stereotype just needs to be punched. I know quite a few gay people. None fall into this stereotype. I am friends with none of these people. Not because they are gay, but because they aren't the type of people I would want to associate with.

Sure.

Why not? I play as the Scout, and we all know he has homosexual tendencies.

He loves his ball.
Well! Off to visit your mother!

OT: Yeah, as long as it wasn't a totally "OMG THIS GUY IS GAY, THIS IS SUCH AN INTRESTING GAME. LOOK: HE DOES LOADS OF GAY STUFF WITH GAY MEN AND LOADS OF GAY THINGS TO TALK ABOUT AND DO!!!!

If it was "okay, your character is gay, and he may have or develop a relationship with another man, now let's get on with the story" then I'd be fine. But I just KNOW that the first mainstream full-release game with a gay main character would pump up the emphasis on how GAY this GAY GUY is and how BRILLIANT and CARING the studio is for pointing out he's GAY every other minute in really uncomfertable ways

A characters sexual orientation shouldn't be an issue in a game, maybe only in a RPG and then you should have to chose which way to go, and I most likely wouldn't play a gay char.

So I guess no I wouldn't play a game with a gay main character.. why ? because it would probably feel forced, I mean ... what is the point of making him gay ? does that make the story better, is the character better because of it ? .. having a gay character just for the sake of him being gay is dumb and pointless, and it probably wouldn't be a very good game if it centers around the fact that he is gay.

The responses confuse me.
Why not have a gay character just because?

Aren't all games having straight characters just because?

I would prefer if the main character was relatable to me... Just you know... that would be nice. Thats why there are no gay main characters. Because its not the majority of the audience.
...
Because its so fucking easy to relate to a video game characters.

Well, If it wasn't just for the lulz, and actualy had a point to it, or it wasn't too much like "OMG THIS GUY IS GAY LOL RIGHT?!?" I doubt I'd mind. In fact, even if it was a steryotypical gay, it might still be interesting.

Would you play a game with a straight main character? Would you play a game with a main character which has blue eyes? I doubt sexual preference would have a real impact on the game.

Sure, assuming the game was good.

Although I would prefer if it didn't have sex scenes. When all else is said and done I really don't want to watch a couple of guys getting it on. It's much the same as how I wouldn't want to see my parents getting cozy.

I do not really care, as many have mentioned already, give me story, gameplay, and NO peripherals for the Wii/NATAL/whatever shit the PS3's got.

Of course. Why would it matter? Its questions like this that show that there is a basic level of homophobia in our society.
