you should have made a poll, it would have told us a lot.

I wouldn't mind. In fact, if it would teach me something about how they perceive life, I would consider it an interesting cultural event.

after reading the artical "not that theres anything wrong with that" I was wondering would people now adays be ready to play a game with a gay main charater? or lesbain main charater as so not to discrimnate(mispelled).
They'd never allow a game like that, would they?
Bwahaha I laughed so hard I nearly evacuated my dinner!

OT: Who really cares about a characters sexual orientation? Sex is just athletic activity, who cares who someone else decides to share it with? It took YEARS before even Marvel comics allowed a gay character in, we should probably be demanding more of them so that they get an equal ratio to real life! (Where's my camp Donald Duck??) Obviously, I jest but come on!?

"Oh no you're gay so you're going to Hell and God banishes you from His sight!"

Oh no! Well first of all, I don't see ANYTHING wrong with people being attracted to people they're NATURALLY attracted to. Judge not lest ye be judged!

Second of all, *channels liberal red-neck* did anyone ever stop to think that homosexuality could be a natural response to a given species' overpopulation?

Third and last of all: Why make a thread like this in the first place? I'd dearly love to believe that we (humanity as a whole) were beginning to be more accepting.

I could put some info here about what my orientation actually is, but the ignorant among you will just assume that I'm gay and the more learned will now wonder.

No, of course not. All gays should burn in hell.
Sorry about that, I just wanted to stand out from the crowd.
Seriously I don't see any reason why I wouldn't play a gay character.

Well, providing there was no overdone romance or stereotyping, camp voice acting or the like, then sure.

I wouldn't think anything of it, as long as I wasn't playing as Graham Norton.

Media likes to portray homosexuals as people who have only one characteristic, which is flamboyant homosexuality. I wouldn't be arsed to play a game like that, it'd get on my nerves, just like it gets on my nerves on movies and tv.

If he was an interesting, well written protagonist, who at one point or another turned out to be homosexual, fine. Wouldn't make a damn bit of difference to me.

I don't give a shit. As long as the gameplay, story and design are decent I'm fine.

I guess it would be a little weird if there was a £Hot Coffee" scene but I'd still play it, albeit at a time when my parents weren't home since that could cause some confusion.

You know, I probably wouldn't care if Snake and Otacon were gay for each other lol. Although I'm very disappointed that Snake didn't end up with Meryl and is old as f**k.

If the main character is gay, chances are the writers are using this fact to ram something down my throat I'd rather not have there (double entendre intended).

Story-based gaming is bad enough without some wannabe social commentator making it worse.

That comment blew my mind.

I'm cool with it: I don't really care about the story in most games anyway. As long as he isn't a) silent, because, well that's just annoying, and b) a stereotypical flamboyant *****. Also, we're never actually told what sexuality a lot of protaginists/antagonists are anyway. I'm betting there are some who are supposed to be.

WTF is "gay character"? You mean wearing pink top and tight leather pants? I think you do becouse we already have optional gay storylines in RPGs.
But if you mean like "forced" gay relationship, hell no. I like to get into the role of who I'm playing and I would be disgusted at any gay allusions. In dragon age I never, ever got zevran into my party since he started hitting on me.
Hell I would get paranoid now that every friendship I struck with any of those characters will turn out to be "something more". I like bromance though.
