Kara No Kyoukai. (Garden of Sinners)
7 part OVA series. It plays so many angles at once, keeping me enthralled the entire time. After it was over, I could nary say anything. I believe I said "Wow..." at that time. This is the only anime I recommend, knowing everyone has one to bring to the table should someone ask.

Inception. Wow that was an amazing ride. The previous movie that amazed me was Shutter Island. (Aslo a Leo movie for the like one or two people who didn't know. I hope he keeps the amazing movie line up going for awhile)

Having only seen Laputa castle in the Sky and Spirited Away, I didn't really have much of a history. He recommended a movie called "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time". So, I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it looked okay. So, I googled the movie and found a place to watch it (Yes, I am a bad person, but this was a one off!) and off I went.

Wow. Simply. Wow.

This is probobly one of my new favorite films. It absolutely blew me away. I came expecting nothing, and after watching it I had chills over how good a movie it was. It was... well, amazing.

So, that brings me to the question I was going to ask. Simply, have you ever been so utterly blown away by something that it is hard to express via words?

Find Summer Wars. It's the latest movie by the guy who made TGWLTT and is also a genre mix between coming-of-age comedy, family drama and science fiction.

Only turned up to eleven.

It's rediculously epic, often kinda weird, but also very heartwarming and engaging.

Perfect Blue, Satoshi Kon's masterpiece from the late 90's, left me utterly speechless after the first viewing. After about 20 seconds of stunned silence, I only mamaged to squeak out the word "Intense." It took almost a minute, repeating that word 4 times, before I recovered fully. I expected little when I purchased it, knowing nothing about it other than the guy who made it later directed Paprika, another favourite of mine. This movie blew away my meager expectations and left me a changed man. That's not hyperbole, I am a different person than I was before I saw this movie.
I must totally agree, all of Satoshi Kon's works are incredible and I am saddened everyday by his passing.

I've heard of "The girl who leapt trough time", but never had the oportunity to watch it myself. I think I've even seen a trailer or two. Everyone seems to be quite fond of it, so i might watch it.
Also, Tengen Topaa Gurren Lagann blew me away. It's my all time Number one anime. It was just so...epic and awesome. I don't have enough cool words to describe it.

I am going to check out the movie that you are talking about though. It sounds interesting!
I just watched it not 20 minutes ago and it's very good. Well worth checking out.
My god, it WAS! I cried at a few parts. It was so sad, and yet, it's made me really think what would happen if I could do what the main character did. You never know what kind of chances you could create or make doing what she did... very very good movie. I'm going to check out the other ones by the same director. I didn't think it would be that good. :3
I've never cried during or becauase of a movie, but that one definatley came the closest. I think one or two tears may have escaped.

the watchmen. The dark knight. Grave of the Fireflies (i've been to hiroshima and nagasaki, +believe me, there's nothing more powerful) Seminal works who's first viewing leaves everybody speechless. Also, LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA, if you haven't seen this, it's probrably one of the most "important" war movies ever made.

yet another edit: THE MOVIE, VS. THIS MOVIE IS BANANAS. I HAD NOTHING TO SAY AFTERWARDS, I WAS SO CONFUSED....
