Please do not post every little bit of information about the expansion here, sure big ticket items, but not crap like "X class skill gets Y buff" or whatever, there are WoW fansites for that crap.

<---- WoW clean for 18 months and counting.

is this why sc2 beta phase 2 keeps getting pushed back? One game at a time blizzard! Work on your better game, aka starcraft.

Thanks to this, I just checked my Beta page for the first time in months. And found out I got into the Starcraft 2 Beta.

John Funk, I owe you my life. Even if SC2 does come out in a month.

EDIT: And only after installing it do I find out I can't play it.

Oh well, I'll be able to play it when the second phase starts.

Blizzard has five completely independent teams.

WoW
SC2
D3
New MMOG
Other Project

The SC2 team has had literally nothing to do with Cataclysm :p

Well I didn't get an invite yet..but I'd much rather a TOR beta invite.

Worgen and Goblin starting experience are hands down the best in the game. Who knew Sylvanis could be so evil? Whoops, don't want to give too much away.

Maybe now someone will finally be able to explain the good parts about this expansion to me. So far it's just been "durrr flying mounts in azeroth, yeahhhhhhhh", which is a negative.

Thumbs crossed for more educated arguments from now on!
Uh, the fact that they're going back to the old world to make the 1-60 questing content as good as their 70-80 questing content with all the stuff they've learned, like phasing et al? That they're going back and making the leveling process much better so the quests don't suck as much? (I don't know if you've gone back and done the old-world quests but after TBC and WotLK leveling a new character or getting your achievements is downright painful).

That they're actually putting effort into making Azeroth a dynamic world and not a place where nothing ever changes?

I mean, this is just stuff on the surface. But frankly, the idea of it alone sounds fantastic, and is a marked change from "LOL NEW PLACE HERE'S TEN MORE LEVELS."
Take a breath man! that was a mouth full...

OT: Eh, I just quit wow and probably for good now. I saw Catacalysm and I really didn't care for it... besides I will be to hung up on Crackdown 2 for the rest of the year (I easily get addicted)

I'm pretty sure if that's the case, then it's a phishing mail.

Don't forget about a small team that still sometimes updates Diablo 2, Warcraft 3 and Starcraft.

This means nothing more to me than yet another lame video from Hobbs.

Sorry, not such a huge fan of a guy talking incoherent nonsense into the mic about how his game is going, although you can plainly see in the video how it is constantly updated as he is AOEing the living shit out of random mobs.

... Other than that, I hope some of you reporters have a beta so you can report from the front lines. I'D BE VERY HAPPY! :D

So don't feed me any phony baloney about how unsavory couch potatoes are more deserving of honor than our nation's war heroes. That's just not true.
Aaaand no-one said they were. What are you getting at here?

I might make a new toon and do my best to level it up when this launches.

But somehow I don't find myself looking forward to the endgame anymore. I have to say that only two things even remotely interest me about Cataclysm so far. Using my main's flying mount to go on an exploration trip across the new Azeroth and maybe levelling up one new toon to see how they've implemented the new phasing and questing philosophies.

Overall a single 2 month card upon launch can cover that wish just fine. But as far as endgame is concerned...meh...I've had my fill of PVE and PVP as defined by WoW I think. And nothing I've seen thus far with the endgame is anything that isn't an extension of what was done in WotLK (during which I lost my will for the endgame). Only the RP could suck me back in, but frankly SWTOR has more of a basis for that to happen than Blizzard's universes I think so...

Ah well...I guess it *does* at least have enough interest to at least make me consider paying for a single 2 month card. Damn you to hell Blizzard. :p

I think it'll be interesting who has the willpower to race to be the first to 85, when the new racial starting zone is calling them!

I know as the GM of a newbie/casual guild I'll be making a gobbo shaman to be part of the tidal wave of green heading from 1 to 85 :D

Good news, WoW junkies - you're about to get a whole lot of Cataclysm information very, very soon.

It may be a bit via the opt-in [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/99790-WoW-Cataclysm-Beta-Closer-Than-You-Think].

"Our focus with Cataclysm has been to build on the knowledge we've gained through the previous expansions to deliver the best, most compelling World of Warcraft content for our players to date," said Blizzard CEO and cofounder Mike Morhaime. "Gathering focused feedback during the beta test will go a long way in helping us reach that goal when we launch Cataclysm later this year."

Oh, by the way, this means that any and all NDAs are officially up. So you'll probably be seeing lots of Cataclysm information in the next few days - especially here.

While I'm not going to go out and explicitly state we'll be doing something like our Travelers' Guide to Northrend [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/the-escapist-presents/192-Lich-King-Travelers-Guide-Northrend-Part-1], I'm also not going to say that we're not going to be doing something like that ...

... I guess you'll just have to come back and find out, won't you? The Mage They Call Jayne(z) will ride again! On a flying mount! In old-world Azeroth!

John.

You're loving this aren't you? I had to laugh reading that post.

Look forward to hearing more coverage over the next few weeks while I hope Blizzard picks my number/name/etc!
