Wet and X-Men? There was nobody else to choose from? Not even Batman:AA?
If you aren't in the guild then you can't get nominated. Which probably explains that.
I guess. But it was written by Paul Dini who I think it's part of the WGA. Cause I'm positively sure he won one WGA award for something. Lost maybe.
Hmm then I guess it didn't impress them, or maybe they confused Batman for Wolverine. They are both gruff dudes with ninja skills and a bone to pick.

What the...Dragon Age is so good because it has good writing, it would just be an aggravating strategy RPG without it. It's definitely a better choice than X-Men Origins.

Only thing I can support, maybe, is Uncharted, just because the woman who plays Morrigan from DA:O is in it
Claudia Black. She was, honestly, the deciding factor that made me buy Uncharted 2. I read the review on the Escapist, and thought "Hmm it sounds good", saw the video, and bought it about 45 minutes later.

I bought DA:O not knowing she was in it, and was pleasently surprised (plus Captain Janeway plays her mum)

OT: Uncharted 2 for the win. X-men... honestly?

Modern Warfare 2.

Riiight...

I can't say I agree, to put it at it's mildest.
Yeah. But, if they nominate Wet, they're probably going to pick Modern Warfare 2. The story wasn't as incredible as Uncharted 2 or Assassin's Creed 2 yet, they will pick it. I still think Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time had a better story than Modern Warfare 2. Yet, because of Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer they'll pick it.

Ah Paul Dini won two WGA awards. One in 2000 for animation writing and another in 2006 for Dramatic writing.

Hmm I'm going with AC2. However MW2's story was compelling and I really do like NCIS but I'm still going with AC2. Haven't played Uncharted, WET, or X-men but I doubt those last two deserved the nomination. The award looks cool though.

the only game from that selection I have played is MW2 but that story was not really that well written. And I didn't find the campaign all that fun, from what I've seen of the others I would say assassins creed takes the biscuit.

wtf is wet and wolverine doing there?! i could sorta understand MW2 (even though it doesn't deserve to be there)

what about brutal legend? arkham asylum? infamous?

i'll accept either screed 2 or uncharted 2 (even tho i didn't really like the story of the latter, it's better than most crap this year)

That's quite depressing that those are the games up for nomination. Not exactly the most stellar of writing in any of them, though I would agree with ACII on that list, and maybe Uncharted 2 if pressed, but where's Dragon Age? Where's Brütal Legend? Hell, Infamous and Prototype had better writing than the latter two entries, and what is Mewtwo even doing on that list? Hell, Madworld had better writing than Mewtwo, and that was repetitive after the second joke.

Edit: Apparently membership in some arbitrary guild is required. That now makes the award arbitrary to me.

AC 2 my personal choice. Because the story with Ezio was good enough but intertwined with the massive conspiracy (supplemented most expertly with the glyphs) was just astonishing

Guys, relax. They gave Star Wars: The Force Unleashed an award for writing. Clearly this is a giant joke.

Seriously though, as much as I liked Uncharted 2's story it was pretty predictable. My votes for ACII.

I have never played Wet, but I assume that even though the game could be crappy, the writing could still be at a decent level (maybe).

And am I the only one who enjoyed MW2's story, it was kind of like watching an action film...Though I admit not many action films get nominated for writing awards.

My monies on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (How many "Game of the Year" awards has this thing won so far?).
After-all... No Dragon Age and/or Batman? :(

I gotta' go with ACII out of those. Man, were there any other games even in the guild? Was this it?

Because I don't think Wet was written, I think it was a bowel movement.

Modern Warfare 2's plot [http://www.gamesradar.com/f/modern-warfare-2s-glaring-plot-holes-exposed/a-20091120123332495077] was probably the most pathetically thought-out storyline to come out of any game last year. If it wins, the Writer's Guild officially loses all credibility.

AC2 was good and the uncharted 2 had a great block buster story, really liked it.

but other ones....yeah i think i lost some respect for the writers guild.
