Ahh, yes. And have you seen Venasaur? In fact, both pokemon in this picture are horrid...

GOD, those Red/Blue sprites were weird.

Oh, and two other Pokemon related things:
1) YAY! My Quilava evolved! YAAAAY!
2) Am I the only one who thinks they should give Sudowoodo an evolution in Generation 5?

1) That... ferret thing. You should've gotten the croc.
2) I wish there weren't a Gen. 5. The thing should end already... But I do hope to see a slight deviation in the story; ya know, something original.

Alright, here we go.

I was leveling up my Tentacool, running around Route 39, hum de dum, battle a Magnemite, hum de dum, faint a Raticate, hum de du - WHAT THE FUCK ENTEI?!?

Seriously! An Entei! Of course, I hit it with a Surf from my Tentacool, and then it ran away. The fuck?!?

So, two questions. One, is this Entei encounter normal? Two, have you ever been in a Pokemon encounter and REALLY wished you had a Master Ball?
Yes the Entei encounter is normal (after doing the burning tower) although he moves around the map and for the second question....yes
Hey. just out of curiosity, how do you find Eniei/Suicune/Raikou (depending on starter) on leaf green.

To everyone telling him to use a move that stops Entei from running away: DON'T! If he uses Roar when he can't run on his own(After a Mean Eye or Spider Web) He will be gone forever. I doubt they changed that from the 2nd Gen.

You got you're answer already. But man it feels so good to hear about someone WTFing like i did when i saw the same happen in the origional xD

You can make a pile of speedballs in the remakes i assume so try packing a few of them. and chance them untill you can get moves like scaryface.
Also yes use your pokedex to track him... tho that can be quite annoying. (using fly warps him to a random spot on the map fyi :p)

What? Haven't you played the original? Of course that's natural. Entei, Suicune, and... the other one randomly show up throughout the world. If you see them, they run away in one turn so you have to either use an attack that keeps them from running or get incredibly lucky with a random pokeball.

On the bright side, now that you've seen Entei once, you can track 'im. Every time you go to a new route, he moves to another route. You have to keep moving around till you're both in the same route, then you have to search around in the grass till he appears and then you can attempt to capture him.
Raikou. It's name is Raikou, after the ancient god of thunder.

Roar. Scary Face is not a good strategy. Better to paralyze or put him to sleep. Fast Balls seem to work about as well as any non-Master Ball on the legendary dogs, so you might as well use that.

just walk in the tall grass out doors and pray. It works pretty much the same as any other game they appear in. And you can catch all of them, regardless of the starter.
Personally i only found raikou. My brother found Entei and had the same starter (squirtle).

Get a decent level Wobbuffet, the ability of which is Shadow Tag which prevents fleeing. Careful with that though, I think the majority of Entei's moves are special and if you use Mirror Coat (which deals back twice the damage taken from any special attack) you have a risk of killing it. Also I think Diglett/Dugtrio can have the ability Arena Trap, which prevents fleeing and I'm fairly sure they can learn False Swipe by leveling or through TM use.

Alternatively you could get a Smeargle and get it to learn Mean Look/Spider Web and False Swipe, the downside to that is that Smeargle are usually quite weak unless it is a ridiculously high level.

One solution to that might be getting Smeargle to learn Ingrain, which negates the effect of Roar (and also restores a bit of HP per turn). However I'm not entirely sure on that so don't quote me on it.

Cool, I didn't know they were random as I thought you found the one that your starter type was weak to.

I also thought that when finding them for the first time you had to unlock the event by doing something weird in the ruins near 7 island.

If you have the patience, you can train a Pokemon with a high Attack value, and use a move that strikes first, preferably something that's super-effective, such as Aqua Jet if you're going for Entei. This way you deal a little damage to the legendary before it can flee. The dogs don't regain health when they run away, so if you keep chasing them, wear them down, then get them to sleep or paralyze them, eventually you should be able to catch them.
This strategy does take time and effort, though.

If you use Mean Look or Spider Web, and the legendary KO's the Pokemon who used it, it'll run away as soon as you swap to someone that isn't fast enough to attack.

Yeah, it's a rare pokemonthat runs around the world map. Now that you've seen it, you can use the Pokedex's 'Area' function to chase it down. But remember that there's only oneof them, so be careful when whittling his HP down.

A good idea is to use a pokemon with Mean Look (usually a ghost) or an Effect that prevents it from escaping. Try Diglett or Wobuffet.

Hope that helps. Oh, and to make catching it easier, use a move like Thunder Wave to paralyse it.

Thats the point of those encounters, thats how it was in Gold/Silver and I suspect thats how it is in the remakes.

Matter of luck, can be infuriating

Yeah Entei and Raikou are annouying little scamps, as long as you have a pokemon with arena trap or shadow tag (ie wobbafett and dugtrio, preferably both, one as a backup) they can't run as long as those pokemon are alive ...though they do have roar but they run out of pp for it fast(after 5 encounters if they use it), they can't regain lost health so eventually (as long as you don't faint them) you can constantly try to catch them but be careful with your attacks
The easiest way to do this is to stake out an area they frequently show up in, every time you change areas they'll move to a different route, eventually they'll run into ya and you'll get another chance for a capture, i got raikou, but Entei (despite having 5 or less health) still manages to elude me and faint my trapping pokemon

I dont think they have anything at all to do with the islands or events (maybe pokemon league?) at all at all~
But unless you have them spotted already its pretty much pointless trying to look for them. Just keep playin and they will come to you (eventually) ^.^

Oh, and I forgot; you can cheat with the running pokemon (it's easier in the ones with the pokewatch map app, so give it a look).

The Runners always change their route every time you change one yourself. So try running between routes constantly until it appears in the onhe you're in. That way it's still hard to catch, but it's one hell of a lot faster than the taditional approach.

Yes. You'll also bump into Raikou occasionally as well.

I caught both of them in Crystal. And Suicuine, Ho-oh and Lugia. I loved that game.

The PP for Roar does run out eventually, since they don't recover HP i think it's safe to assume it doesn't regain it's PP either and no you can still track them even if they roar you

Um? Ahem. I cannot think of any eligible excuse for this unless you never played Pokemon ever. Even I (The 1997-born that I am) knew of the 3 dogs for quite a while now. This is Entei

This may be because of the third movie Pokemon 3000, which A) Was back when Pokemon was good and B) actually was released in cinemas. Yup, that's my Pokemon fanboy rant for the day

EDIT: Picture up now
