Oh, and I forgot; you can cheat with the running pokemon (it's easier in the ones with the pokewatch map app, so give it a look).

The Runners always change their route every time you change one yourself. So try running between routes constantly until it appears in the onhe you're in. That way it's still hard to catch, but it's one hell of a lot faster than the taditional approach.

I remember doing this for Latios in Emerald, but it is really Rage-worthy when they appear in the route you just ran from, and then when you run back to it, they change to a completely different part of the map

Roar. Scary Face is not a good strategy. Better to paralyze or put him to sleep. Fast Balls seem to work about as well as any non-Master Ball on the legendary dogs, so you might as well use that.

The Entei encounter is normal, just remember.

You should have a Pokemon that can use a move such as Block or has an ability similar to it in the first slot if you're going to look for the roaming Legendaries.

You should also have one that can put it to sleep or paralyze it.

The damage carries over into the next time you see it if you didn't catch it or defeat it.

Trust me, Entei is not very good at all. I caught one and then deleted my save because I wasted my master ball.

It's just a random encounter, but you need to use mean look and hypnotize to put it to sleep and then weaken it. Then just waste ultra balls on it until you catch it. Don't ever kill it because it can't come back.

Yeah, it does that. Always has. Use a move that prevents run aways or you need to get lucky with a ball. I'd recommend not knocking it out because if you do, you lose your chance at catching it forever.

So much fail. First off, it's Ent(e)i. Secondly, No, it hasn't been new for 10 years. Thirdly, It is one of the legendary dogs.

If you want to catch one of the three roaming legends, I recommend using repel. It keeps you from encountering the lower level critters once you're in the right route.

I've always done that.Glad to see someone else has the brain to do it too

Entei is a bit of a bugger for me to catch,Raikou and Suicune were no challenge at all though.
And Latios is so friggin' weak I'm not going to bother.

For me something that worked was putting it to sleep in one encounter and then every time after that just use False Swipe until you can't get it's health any lower. Use Mean Look and then a Quick Ball. That's how I'm doing it although I'm sure there are other methods.

Took me 4 or 5 months of everyday play to catch that dumb Entei on Silver. Suicune got the master ball, Raikou I got lucky and captured it after 4 or 5 tries. But Entei was my white whale, down to one hit point (from False Swipe) but never being caught.

To everyone telling him to use a move that stops Entei from running away: DON'T! If he uses Roar when he can't run on his own(After a Mean Eye or Spider Web) He will be gone forever. I doubt they changed that from the 2nd Gen.

Not so my friend, they changed it so he doesnt disappear this time round, i've had him roar me away while I was pursuing him, and found him again afterward.

Unfortunately I was chasing him in the school common room, which aside from two people caused everyone in the room to be slightly wierded out by my constant screams of annoyance.
