considering how excited people are for the avengers movie and the iron man 3 sequel, i think Vaughn is talkin' out of his ass
Agree.

Superhero movies are now cool again and with the better CGI we have now they can be better than they ever were.
Superhero movies can only go from strength to strength as with each generation of kids emerging with the same thirst for the extra ordinary as we had when we were young, there will always be a place in cinema for them in the future.

I personally thought that Iron Man 1&2 were both pretty average movies at best; nothing special. Iron Man 1 suffered from a terrible end battle, and the plot to Iron Man 2 just didn't seem to have much urgency to it; it suffered from the fact that it was a middle movie. Same with spiderman; the 3rd one was pretty atrocious. X-men 3 was, once again, terrible, and once again not much happened in the 2nd one although it went on for a good 133 minutes. And dont forget superman people... The only real superhero movies of late that i found really quite enjoyable were the batman ones, and i know i am not the only one who will agree with this point. It brought something new to the table in my opinion, something that the other films were unable to.

My point is that i agree with mr Vaughn; I think that a load of superhero films have only really done well at the box office due to a religious following, but even they are getting a bit bored by the stuff which is being churned out.

Maybe after Avengers and Batman 3, things will begin to calm down. I think there are multiple sequels planned for Iron Man, Thor, Cpt. America, Hulk, and even Avengers itself. Eventually, audiences will indeed burnout, but it won't happen until after Nolan wraps Batman up and Avengers finally comes out.

Huh, actually I thougth that these movies were still getting better and better, first there were the X-men-movies, that i liked, then there were spiderman and watchmen, which were great, along with Iron Man 1&2, which were awesome, and so on. I don't really see why I wouldn't want to watch more of that stuff.

He's got a very good point, but I think that as with anything in the movies, if it's done well, people will want to see it.
If it's crap, then it's crap. Right, Wolverine Origins? (you horrible piece of shit)

Also, as an aside, I thought this was going to be from Bryan Singer and I had this wonderful zinger lined up "No, Bryan, just your career after your mishandling of Superman"
There. I've had my fun.

In fairness to Vaughn, though, he's right- this is definitely a danger. As long as this doesn't affect Batman 3, I don't care :p

Personally, though, there is going to be a market for this stuff in future although its inevitable that it's going to contract to an extent.

If anything, I think Marvel Studios might very well be the ones to kill the golden goose if they misjudge the release of their Thor and Avengers projects.

They seem to have a habit of driving a character into the ground, after all... I really don't like what they've done with Punisher, and they're in danger of mangling Deadpool.

Which would be plane tragic as he's going to become overused and safe if they're not careful.

Just because no one cares about X-Men: The first class, doesn't mean that superhero movies are a dying breed.

"Mine will be the last superhero movie anyone will want to see... Then the genre will die... There's too many superhero movies, but remember to see mine".

Though he does have a point in that their are alot of super hero movies, but thats just the current movie style.

Was it not a common site in the 80s to see an endless amount of tough guy action movies?
Did the late 90s and early 00s not overwhelm us with screaming highschool kids being offed one by one?

Maybe it's not that we're sick of super hero movies, but of BAD super hero movies. I mean, I liked Kick-Ass, don't get me wrong. It did somethings better than the comic, but it also did some pretty stupid things as well.
X-men 1 and 2 were alright for it's time, but compared to the great super hero movies that have come out these last few years, they aren't that great.
But I honestly have no doubt that his rendition of X-men 3 would have been great. And maybe if he had done Wolverine, it wouldn't have been so bad. I honestly think that what would save the super hero movie genre is to stop giving the movie licences to idiotic studios who drop the ball so often.

It's X-Men that people don't care about anymore. Movies like Iron Man are awesome though, and the rest of the Avengers are looking good too.

We need more superhero movies like kick-ass, thank god the creators are already on board for a three picture deal.
But can we cross out the awful "the looser gets the beautiful girl anyway because fuck you, reality!"-part please? That was so uncalled for.

I'd actually prefer more superhero movies, but only if they managed to keep a steady good quality which I doubt honestly. Sooner or later someone will realize you can make lots of money with a character people love without making a good plot for him. Then we will end up with Steven Segal as Green Arrow or something equally sucky.

film is dying because it has no new ideas. i have not seen a film in years. why? i seen it all. its the same shit over and over and over again. its not just the decline of superheroes in films, its the decline of films itself. comics are stagnant, and film is dying.
In essence, by your logic, literature should have died nearly a century ago since it's been around for so long and it has done everything to the power of ∞.

You haven't seen a film in years? You mean to say you have never sat down to watch any film, or you haven't been to the cinema? I find that slightly hard to believe. You must have the most active and interesting lifestyle to not even consider watching a film. Your friends must share the exact same sentiments too, as friends generally ask other friends to go to the cinema for nothing more then the lols.

Not only that, have you seen every film, have you read every comic... surely there must be some genre you like and are willing if not eager to endure more of the same.

You'd be surprised how many women settle (I say settle, but I mean varying degrees of infatuation/love) for what would socially be considered a loser.

What you don't understand, is directors are getting more and more time in the public eye. It's not about the Actors as much these days (they do play an important part in drawing in specific crowds) but also the reputation of the director. A person who makes a shit film, will be remembered as the guy who made that shit film. It's actually funny how many directors have sunk away from the big screen débuts due to an awful film. When was the last Uwe Boll film to be released on the big screen?

Given what I've seen from the X-Men movies with The Last Stand and Origins: Wolverine, audience have good reason to lose interest in them. Movies like The Dark Knight and Iron Man however should give movie goers some higher expectations for upcoming superhero movies.
