I hope this fails, chances are it won't but I hope it fails because:

1. It's a minecraft rip off, nothing different apart from the graphics.
2. Microsoft are making money off of a product based on an idea that isn't theirs.

I mean come on, its not a very good sign where companies in the gaming industry are copying each other to gain profit...

Although I'm kinda glad people on consoles will get a taste of Minecraft.

Basically they've ported the MineColonist mod and Misa's HD texture pack onto the 360.

And get some creativity with the naming for crying out loud.

For some reason I really hope that they get their asses handed to them in court...

It's a strange feeling...

In context Notch and another mojang member are saying they don't care and don't plan to sue and in fact think it could end up quite nice.

People need to calm the hell Down =/ As said in the Post Notch did the same thing with infinminer, he used it's basic format and changed it as it moved on, thats what the dev for fortesscraft plans to do.

Also here is the post of someone else asking them, this is the post they were referring to in their twitter's.

Minions do sound like a good idea, Notch should steal some ideas right back. The "Minecraft Genre" could be the next FPS. Funnily enough I prefer the look of Minecraft over this, it seems too slick if that is possible. Could they outright copy the mobs? Would they be that brazen.
I think theres a mod floating about on the Minecraft forums that allows you to raise baby creepers.

When theyre full grown theyll explode at other attacking mobs. Also they dont die in the process.

Looks dreadful - just something really off about the graphics - and if that trailer is any indication then they'll manage to market themselves into embarassed obscurity.

That said, this will have about as much impact on Minecraft as the latest generic fantasy MMO has on WoW. I.e. None.

Wow. These guys are dicks.

Oh hey, you're still in development? That's cool. How about I just go ahead and publish this with a little spit and polish and call it my own thing? Money please.

Then they're free to start working on their next big indie project, a little something called The Legend of Zalda. Think you'll like it, it's a game about this little elf dude in a gree BLUE tunic named Link Lunk. And he has to save a princess.

if MC was Copyright notched could sue their asses!
this is just a MC ripoff and nothing more!
also MC,s relativly bad graphics gave it charm this just looks too realistic
It is copyrighted. The copyright is held by Mojang AB, Notch's studio.

Its not that the game isn't copyrighted. Its that microsoft is the one ripping people off. Microsoft can do whatever it wants to, because it has enough money that if it wanted to it could even keep the U.S. government in court for a few hundred years.

HAHA called this before xmas, fatty notch should have got his shit together and finished the game before releasing useless items such as cake which broke the game then going off for 1 week vacations to accept awards for his unfinished game.

Incredible idea but minecraft failed due to piss poor management by notch. Shame but its dog eat dog in the video gaming world, wish he had just knuckled down and got his game finished in a reasonable time frame.
You seem to have a lot of animosity. You should be interested to know that the game is not, and has not at all failed. You can wait till a final version of the game pick it up, or you can get a discount for it now. And you get to try all the cool new features as they come. This game is not in any longer development than any other game, and they have an unofficial release date planned. Most games are in development way longer than this these days, and don't even get me started on any Blizzard game. As a matter of fact, they have sold well over a million copies of the game, something no XBLIG game has come close to. I seriously doubt this would be any different. I hope it does well, but you shouldn't go around declaring fails on games that haven't come close to failing.

Until Minecraft fixes some of its installation and login issues I think I'll be more then happy to pick this up
The server went down, you could still play offline, you just couldn't log into the minecraft server. And you could still join other peoples server, you just couldn't download the game directly from them while they were down.

Wait, won't they just kill their own target audience? People see that and say "Oh, I have Minecraft, that looks like just a bunch more of the same." And even though they can't get enough of the same on the original game, they don't want to pay extra for more. If you take a game with the replayability (or perhaps endless playability) of Minecraft and try to re-package it and sell it again, won't people just say "No, I already payed for this."?

I'd rather just keep playing the Minecraft I know and love on my laptop rather than buying the same game on my xbox.

The ignorance on this forum can be quite astounding. Ok, this has nothing to do with Microsoft. XNA is simply a game development tool [primarily used to create 2D games] they publish for free on App Hub. This game was developed by an independent developer using XNA and then placed on the Xbox Live indie marketplace; a section of Xbox Live not really controlled by Microsoft; users submit their games and, after passing evaluation from other developers on the service, they're put on sale.

I'll repeat; this has nothing to do with Microsoft...furthermore, the game isn't copyrighted - you can't copyright game mechanics...There's a game, created by a professional studio named "World of LoreCraft", though it's not an MMO; so you could argue the name isn't really an issue either - it's not like it's directly competing with MineCraft.

Uh, you know you can get Minecraft to look exactly like that? Simple mod. HD Graphics for the graphics, water, block thing. MineColony if you want minions, etc.

I like Minecraft the way it looks and plays now. Definitly don't need anymore updates unless its for more awesome things to build.

Also this 'updated' engine does not look better. It looks significantly worse.
