Wait, won't they just kill their own target audience? People see that and say "Oh, I have Minecraft, that looks like just a bunch more of the same." And even though they can't get enough of the same on the original game, they don't want to pay extra for more. If you take a game with the replayability (or perhaps endless playability) of Minecraft and try to re-package it and sell it again, won't people just say "No, I already payed for this."?
We can only hope thats how it goes down

Its not that the game isn't copyrighted. Its that microsoft is the one ripping people off. Microsoft can do whatever it wants to, because it has enough money that if it wanted to it could even keep the U.S. government in court for a few hundred years.
The ignorance on this forum can be quite astounding. Ok, this has nothing to do with Microsoft. XNA is simply a game development tool [primarily used to create 2D games] they publish for free on App Hub. This game was developed by an independent developer using XNA and then placed on the Xbox Live indie marketplace; a section of Xbox Live not really controlled by Microsoft; users submit their games and, after passing evaluation from other developers on the service, they're put on sale.

I'll repeat; this has nothing to do with Microsoft...furthermore, the game isn't copyrighted - you can't copyright game mechanics...There's a game, created by a professional studio named "World of LoreCraft", though it's not an MMO; so you could argue the name isn't really an issue either - it's not like it's directly competing with MineCraft.

Uh, you know you can get Minecraft to look exactly like that? Simple mod. HD Graphics for the graphics, water, block thing. MineColony if you want minions, etc.

I like Minecraft the way it looks and plays now. Definitly don't need anymore updates unless its for more awesome things to build.

Also this 'updated' engine does not look better. It looks significantly worse.

Not sure why everyone's going on about Copyright. Minecraft itself was ripped from a very similar game. The current version is just an improvement of the classic Minecraft which is Inifiniminer with better graphics and slightly different structure.

Wow, the amount of illogical anger and ignorance here is ridiculous.

This game has done nothing to Minecraft that Minecraft didn't do to Infiniminer.

Notch didn't do anything original with Minecraft, he simply reworked an already old formula, exactly as has been done here. I personally look forward to being able to play something like this on console.

Well this game will obviously have its pluses and minuses. I will, of course, stick to my copy of Minecraft. Besides, I really don't want to rebuild my Tetris game on Fortresscraft.

There's nothing really wrong with it...

Medal of honor and COD do the same thing in same settings, along with a dozen other games that look similar in many ways

Ripping it off is one thing.
Ripping it off extremely well?

Now that's a different story.

They probably copyrighted the name "Minecraft" and that's probably it, you can't exactly copyright gameplay features, otherwise you would see a lot more companies suing similiar/clone games. Not to mention, Notch acknowledges minecraft clones and doesn't care that much about them.

I understand that games just rip each other off all the time...

but couldn't they name it something more original? Fortresscraft? Really? Minecraft's name is totally different from the game it ripped off, Infiniminer (or at least tries). But at least Fortresscraft tries to do something different, unlike Manic Digger.

Yup...that sure is a blatant copy. Not much else to say past that really. It's pretty easy to tell that if you already have Minecraft then you won't even give this a second look. If you don't have Minecraft, then this is an alright substitute, so there's really no point in complaining about it.

Also, proof here that better graphics=/=improvement. The realistic water just looked silly compared to its surroundings, and that pickaxe, quite frankly, looks like it came out of a Half-Life mod.

I don't honestly care about the game, it looks alright. But now, I am starting to get worried:

MineCraft, FortCraft, MineCraft Portable? I think the Studios need to stop there if they don't want these kinds of games to become "Fads".

So it's Minecraft without the charm. Giving nice graphics to a blocky game just doesn't work. That flowing water and the nicely detailed tools just look horribly out of place. And I wonder if Notch has a copyright, because he should at least be getting royalties from this.

Also, while I might have given this a look, with each chapter costing more money I won't consider it. Don't make us pay for all the features separately, come on. If you're not going to put the effort into making something original, at least put some effort into not making it look like a complete cash-grab
