Ok, there's drawing influence from something, then there's just wholesale ripoff. This is a total wholesale ripoff. I highly doubt this game's gonna do very well, given the backlash it's getting.

For the record, I will not be getting this game: I already have Minecraft.

Indie developers should focus on making new, creative, innovative game experiences like Notch already did with Minecraft, not blatantly copying each other for profit.
If you read whole article, you would found info about infiniminer, which minecraft is a copy of.
I did read the whole article, and I knew Notch got the idea from Infiniminer before I read the article as well.

I'm done here before a flame war breaks out, if one hasn't already. Yes I read the article, no I'm not going to go through and read every single post until my eyes bleed.

Well, they do say that imitation is a form of flattery, but I'd say that this goes a bit too far. The graphics don't go good with the style, and it looks downright ugly to look at honestly.

Doubt I'd be picking this up any time soon.

Meh, not that big a deal.

Hopefully this will kick Notch in the ass to get some real new stuff for minecraft. Beds are nice, but come on there should be more stuff in the updates than this, especially when you lift your new UI from the community mods.

Damn Hell.....

Looks nice... but Fuck... this is even for the stadart off ripping of each other a new level.....

A Indie thing that copypasted from an Indie thing just for sonsoles sake. Nice Idea, but bruhaha....

This looks compared to minecraft like Red Alert (the Strategy game) looked like to Dune2.

With the exeption that it was the same Developer.

I doubt I'll get this. I don't think I'd feel good about it because I really appreciate what Mojang and Notch have done with Minecraft. I'd rather get an official Minecraft port for the XBLA, since I don't use mods.

I suppose that minecraft having it's style bogarted isn't very cool because hey. A unique and original game just got it's idea stolen. which is not the case at all because they got there idea from a game long since forgotten so they don't own this idea anymore richard williams owns the book version of who framed roger rabbit. In any case though I consider it to be a plus. Much in the way of how saints row was a ripoff of grand theft auto it showed players that being a knockoff is nothing when you actually have some interesting approaches to the established world.

When it comes to creating things there is no love for the similar but let me play devils advocate and say that this could be good. They could learn from each other. And seeing that they aren't on the same platforms they aren't directly stealing business from them. The world is not unlike the minecraft. Filled with things that already exist but are just waiting for someone else to perfect them whether it be the creator or a bystander with a few novel ideas.

this is horrible. this is just an example of why xbox live among other things is why gaming nowadays is so unoriginal, non innovative, and repetitive. i saw that short documentary, and one of the things that a developer said was their philosiphy in which they will make a game because they themselves would think it is fun. they don't want to appeal to a certain audience because then you don't have the passion for it and it will end up a mediocre game.

this shameless minecraft ripoff is one of the finest examples of people not being to have original ideas and creative minds because of greed. i will not buy this simply because that money should go to the people at mojang who deserve it.

the only thing that really bugs me is that they didnt even come up with an original name for this. i mean, a ripoff shouldn't SOUND like a ripoff, that just provides a hint at the likely poor quality. at least notch used an alteration of miner in his name........ while also (semi) cleverly ripping off blizzard, but these guys werent even creative.

ima not gonna get this until its done and even then, maybe not. i already have minecraft to play and i dont need what looks like a (not so) cheap knockoff.

Looks cool. My computer is basically garbage so it'll be nice to build up a doom fortress on my 360. This one could be fun.

wow.... those graphics are worse than MCs.... with the new patch to Minecraft, the lighting has improved a ton, i realy think it is great visually while this is just poorly made... except the water -.- i always fall for lovely water graphics :3 and needless to say Minecraft fails in that part -.- but without it being that way the idea of the sourceblock wouldn't be there and it's also important for Minecraft...

Minions do sound like a good idea, Notch should steal some ideas right back. The "Minecraft Genre" could be the next FPS. Funnily enough I prefer the look of Minecraft over this, it seems too slick if that is possible. Could they outright copy the mobs? Would they be that brazen.

No thanks. Though I may be primarily an Xbox 360 player, I've already bought Minecraft for my Mac. FortressCraft looks as though it would be quite redundant.

i agree, you make some valid points, and it may even give some publicity to minecraft (flaming and admission of shameless ripping off (if they arent complete asshats) and such), just from the looks of things it seems to be a bit of a clone with less appealing graphics (instead of the block style, they have semi realistic stuff which just looks dated, not charming in any way). though if it does include some new elements that we havent seen which do well (like a new way to do multiplayer?) and notch implements some of these (since everyone takes something from somebody when creating any kind of art or game, especially in this day and age), this could even improve the minecraft we love.

im still not buying it till its done though, dont want 2 versions of the same unfinished thing.

The framerate looks atrocious above ground. And seems to have a few issues underground too, and I don't know, but whoever made that ad has absolutely no-idea on how to convey the tone of their game. Seriously, what the hell kind of music is that to set to a game that is primarily about mining and stacking blocks?

I do like the grass effects, and the textures on some of the blocks. But over-all, the game feels like a crass rip-off. Maybe it is bias. But I'm not so enamoured that I can spend more than an hour or two with Minecraft before I get bored (maybe I lack an imagination or something.), but this, and that other one, Minecart Mania just seem...lame.

It's silly I know, but they don't got no heart. No love in em'.

I would probably be more interested in this than actual minecraft if only because i would rather play on my xbox. Playing minecraft on my laptop gets uncomfortable after a while. Also my laptop cant really handle some of the larger minecraft projects i have tried and even those were not that big.

Actually, nobody seems to be pointing out: SInce it's on XBox Live Indie games it'll probably undercut Notch by a fair bit.

Minecraft is for the PC and xbox live people can get a damn computer and play it on that
You're right! How DARE the filthy console gaming peasants want to play a game on their *Shudder* filthy consoles. This is blasphemy!
