If this is Minecraft with a twist, fair enough, but that trailer makes it look exactly like Minecraft. In fact, I tried a HD texture pack for Minecraft, and it looked exactly like the graphics in that trailer. Although, having seen videos of Infiniminer, it looks very similar to Minecraft as well, so I dunno, it feels wrong to criticise this when the same could be said of Minecraft.

I would be okay with this, if it wasnt for the huge wave of DLC that comes along with this "tribute".

Part of me wishes Microsoft would just buy out Minecraft, rather than make a flimsy knock-off. While I approve of bringing this type of game to a larger audience, I still wish it was Minecraft on the Xbox, not "Fortresscraft".

Sometimes i am ashamed of the gamer industry i am like really what the fuck someone comes out with an original idea programs the game pretty much by his self then is a reasonable person when the game randomly explodes.

So what does the industry do no not try to hire him oir encourage growth they just add a better graphic engine and try to run the game into you ground with a clone. This is disgraceful as people wonder why there is little growth in the gaming industry this is why people because the companies dont want change.

So i will support minecraft even more now and Notch. While refusing to buy "fortresscraft" as it is a total rip off

I like how so many people are insisting that this is nothing more than a Minecraft clone, based on a video that's less than a full minute. But alas, gamers never were defined by their rationality... >.>

For people saying that Fortress Craft is a clone of Minecraft, can I just point point to a game called Infiniminer; Minecraft seems very similar to it don't it?
People seem to be blind by some sort of fanboy rage. It makes them unable, or unwilling, to read past headlines and video clips.

Plus, they see XBL, and think "OMG Micro$oft is evil!"
Were I allowed by forum rules I would quote every single one of them with an explanation that minecraft was not original to begin with and a point to the following link:
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Infiniminer However that would also shatter many peoples illusions and I'm not that mean.

Tell you what, Fortress Craft, if Minecraft doesn't get onto the consoles, I'll buy you. My 360 doesn't lag out when it realizes how big of a game Just Cause 2 is, but Minecraft on my computer will crash on the second to lowest quality? Minecraft's a fun game when it works for me, but Fortress Craft would be convenient.

Ok, there's drawing influence from something, then there's just wholesale ripoff. This is a total wholesale ripoff. I highly doubt this game's gonna do very well, given the backlash it's getting.

For the record, I will not be getting this game: I already have Minecraft.

Indie developers should focus on making new, creative, innovative game experiences like Notch already did with Minecraft, not blatantly copying each other for profit.
If you read whole article, you would found info about infiniminer, which minecraft is a copy of.
I did read the whole article, and I knew Notch got the idea from Infiniminer before I read the article as well.

I'm done here before a flame war breaks out, if one hasn't already. Yes I read the article, no I'm not going to go through and read every single post until my eyes bleed.

Well, they do say that imitation is a form of flattery, but I'd say that this goes a bit too far. The graphics don't go good with the style, and it looks downright ugly to look at honestly.

Doubt I'd be picking this up any time soon.

Meh, not that big a deal.

Hopefully this will kick Notch in the ass to get some real new stuff for minecraft. Beds are nice, but come on there should be more stuff in the updates than this, especially when you lift your new UI from the community mods.

Damn Hell.....

Looks nice... but Fuck... this is even for the stadart off ripping of each other a new level.....

A Indie thing that copypasted from an Indie thing just for sonsoles sake. Nice Idea, but bruhaha....

This looks compared to minecraft like Red Alert (the Strategy game) looked like to Dune2.

With the exeption that it was the same Developer.

I doubt I'll get this. I don't think I'd feel good about it because I really appreciate what Mojang and Notch have done with Minecraft. I'd rather get an official Minecraft port for the XBLA, since I don't use mods.

I suppose that minecraft having it's style bogarted isn't very cool because hey. A unique and original game just got it's idea stolen. which is not the case at all because they got there idea from a game long since forgotten so they don't own this idea anymore richard williams owns the book version of who framed roger rabbit. In any case though I consider it to be a plus. Much in the way of how saints row was a ripoff of grand theft auto it showed players that being a knockoff is nothing when you actually have some interesting approaches to the established world.

When it comes to creating things there is no love for the similar but let me play devils advocate and say that this could be good. They could learn from each other. And seeing that they aren't on the same platforms they aren't directly stealing business from them. The world is not unlike the minecraft. Filled with things that already exist but are just waiting for someone else to perfect them whether it be the creator or a bystander with a few novel ideas.

this is horrible. this is just an example of why xbox live among other things is why gaming nowadays is so unoriginal, non innovative, and repetitive. i saw that short documentary, and one of the things that a developer said was their philosiphy in which they will make a game because they themselves would think it is fun. they don't want to appeal to a certain audience because then you don't have the passion for it and it will end up a mediocre game.

this shameless minecraft ripoff is one of the finest examples of people not being to have original ideas and creative minds because of greed. i will not buy this simply because that money should go to the people at mojang who deserve it.
