There is a difference between inspiration and outright theft.

The game is even stealing half of the fucking title, so let's stop kidding ourselves that this is anything but a blatant ripoff. From that trailer, it's just Minecraft with more sophisticated rendering (and worse graphics IMO, no charm to the simplicity there at all). Every block in that trailer was a direct copy of a block in Minecraft and there was even a minecart.

The difference between Minecraft and Infiniminer is immense and it's very clearly an instance of inspiration. This is just the same damn game and I'm saddened by the comparison between what Notch did with his inspiration and what this guy is doing with his copying.

If they can take the concept and make a better game than what Minecraft is, great.
If they can't, who cares. Just another knock-off.
Either way, notch has competition in the block genre now.
Everybody wins.

I'll try it out, notch already got my money, but if this runs with less lag, this is what I'll play.

Even if it may be a somewhat polished clone of Minecraft, I'll probably get it simply because it is on XBL and has multiplayer, by the looks of it.
Won't have to rely on trying to get our own servers to work >.>
One of the primary reasons I buy games fer teh xbox.
Somewhat sad that I won't be able to play with the many people I know through my computer, but at least half of them have xbox, so /shrug.

I wonder what Minecraft will do when this comes out.
Make it cheaper? Strive to make it better? Add more features?
While it is commonplace for games to build off of each other (usually through stealing ideas and pretending they are their own *cough*Blizzard*cough*), it would be sweet to see two games like these build directly off of each other, trying to better the other, and resulting in an overall better game.

I smell people calling for a lawsuit with no legal grounds! Everyone here saying he should sue is totally saying that just because he's the current golden boy of indie games.

This just looks like a well made mod to Minecraft but its a waist of time. Minecraft is the Champion of the idie games the only thing I can only think of one thing Minecraft can do to counter this and it's to hit Minecraft up on steam !

Subsequent chapters will add crafting, life, machinery, minions, PVP, and a "Fortress Assault" mode. Each chapter will cost 80 Microsoft Points ($1). Eventually, the game will come to other platforms.
Why does that make me think this is going to happen:

Chapter 273 released! You can now craft beds! That will be $1 more please.

It is copyrighted. The copyright is held by Mojang AB, Notch's studio.

Its not that the game isn't copyrighted. Its that microsoft is the one ripping people off. Microsoft can do whatever it wants to, because it has enough money that if it wanted to it could even keep the U.S. government in court for a few hundred years.
The ignorance on this forum can be quite astounding. Ok, this has nothing to do with Microsoft. XNA is simply a game development tool [primarily used to create 2D games] they publish for free on App Hub. This game was developed by an independent developer using XNA and then placed on the Xbox Live indie marketplace; a section of Xbox Live not really controlled by Microsoft; users submit their games and, after passing evaluation from other developers on the service, they're put on sale.

I'll repeat; this has nothing to do with Microsoft...furthermore, the game isn't copyrighted - you can't copyright game mechanics...There's a game, created by a professional studio named "World of LoreCraft", though it's not an MMO; so you could argue the name isn't really an issue either - it's not like it's directly competing with MineCraft.
You can't explain anything to Notch's Nut Lickers. He is a god to them for putting out an unfinished game, giving them tastes of updates they have already paid for (beds, woohoo!) and promptly going on extended vacations because it's hard ripping off people's mods and making them into said sporadic updates (wait, isn't that stealing ideas- the same thing they are bitching about FortressCraft doing?) and being a racist pig?

On an entirely unrelated note, how similar is Minecraft to Infiniminer? Alot of people are claiming that Minecraft is a 100% original product here....

How is it shopped when http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/22330335379333120 is what he changed it to a bit later, fanboy?

Well, I'll give that a based on the same premise. I have nothing against FortressCraft, and I wish it all the greatest success. If the block based digging worlds are a fun idea, I can't see why another one would hurt. Though I think Minecraft may have the market under its control for now.

Actually Twitter doesnt censor stuff and you cant edit tweets. Notch made the amazing bigotry thing himself. The word ****** was never written. Like i said, Fake. And a nice joke. GG. And not a fanboy. Just making sure you dont difamate people unjustly.

Nuts to making a Minecraft remake, I want to see Dwarf Fortress with modern graphics!
That, or Dungeon Keeper 2. The DK3 MMO does not count.

I do hope for the sake of the developer that they have the go-signal from the maker(s) of minecraft. Or I forsee the most onesided case of copyrightbreach in the history of videogames.
