I plan to get a PS 3 for xmas and I too saw that review, I had the audacity to believe that what seems like a reliable source had the correct information, but I just figured I would have to buy a charge kit, now, just to be 100% clear, can your PS 3 controllers be charged right out of the box or is the charger sold seperatly, yes I'm sure you can I just want to be sure so I don't end up looking like a jackass xmas morning
I dont own a ps3, but my cousin does. He has 2 chargers for both of his controllers. I think the box only comes with 1 charger, since it only comes with 1 controller. And i think any extra controllers u buy come with chargers.

The PS3 comes with a cord that connects the controller to the PS3 so you can charge it. You can buy extra ones although it's not really necessary because there's a slim chance that both of your controllers are going to need to be charged at the same time. You can also use the cord to charge a BlueTooth headset which is really helpful.

OT: Wow, this is writer is stupid. The only reason I use Yahoo! is for my email and that's because I don't want to switch over to anything else.

Sony will even give you instructions on how to install new batteries in the event of their death. The internal batteries will be rechargable Li-Ion AAs.

The controller charge leads are just normal USB-to-MiniUSB leads (like you get with the PSP-1000, 2000 and 3000 models). They cost, what, a quid? We have loads lying around our house.

I think the writer simply mis-stated the facts. She is right to be honest (kinda). When the battery in the PS3 controller eventually dies, as in it won't take a charge anymore, you can't replace the battery like you could with a 360 or Wii. You have to buy another controller.

I don't think she worded it right, but this certainly isn't an epic fail...

No one here actually thinks she meant that when it loses its charge the controller needs to be replaced? (Judging by the posts, you all do.) Even if it's not completely clear, she has a university degree most likely, give her a little credit. She's saying that unlike an XBox controller, you can't easily replace the battery pack. I look for stupid people all the time. This isn't it folks.

Really? Realy?!
I guess they thought the charge cable was merely an unncesary part that had nothing to do with the plug in spot on the remotes.

Yahoo really should stick to doing what it does best -- being a collection of completely obsolete services. It certainly can't do anything else, like provide accurate information on videogame accessories. The site recently reviewed some Christmas gifts that customers should avoid, and stated that the PS3 was "all fun and games until the battery dies."

Yahoo thinks that PS3 controllers need to be thrown away when they run out of power.

"It?s all fun and games until the battery dies," claims Yahoo writer Anne Kadet. "Unlike its competitors, which use replaceable AA batteries, the PS3?s remote control is glued shut. When the battery goes, Sony customers have to blow $55 on a new controller."

Simply amazing. However, it does make you wonder if this is one isolated case of ignorance, or if there are PS3 owners out there who also haven't realized that PS3 controllers are rechargeable and have bought a new DualShock 3 each and every time. That's quite a terrifying concept, if you ask me. Some of these people could be out on the road, driving. Driving and that stupid.

As pointed out, she could mean when the battery eventually dies, but seriously, who even does that? Who criticizes a rechargeable product on the basis that it will eventually die in the far-flung future? The way she presents it, she provides no clue to readers that the controller can be recharged at all. So really, she's either a fool or intellectually dishonest. In any case, Yahoo should stop talking about games.

Oh my god.

No. Read this line again and tell me she was talking about that.

Then you say she probably had a degree and whatnot. I googled her name because I'm bored. Came up with this [http://blog.affiliatetip.com/archives/anne-kadet-cant-figure-out-affiliate-marketing/]. Stupid? I think so.

I think you might miss the point. The rechargable battery can (and eventually WILL) die. When it does, there is no option to simply replace the battery - one has to replace the entire controller, or go through a complex proceedure that 99% of consumer's wouldn't even consider. That said, one could STILL use said controller with an especially long USB cable, but at this point it's no longer fulfilling fully one half of the implied requirements (the wireless part).
