My primary weapon would probably either be a War Hammer, or a Sledge Hammer, I'm not picky, backup weapon would be a hatchet of some kind. If I'm restricted to old timey weaponry then it's still an easy choice.

Primary: Pilum. A spear made for throwing, with a weakened thinner metal shaft between the tip and the wooden shaft.
Secondary: Either a short sword or a hatchet.
Shield: Any kind of shield really.

Throw the pilum right at the poor sucker going up against me. If he has a shield, I don't care. The Pilum will pierce through his shield and the metal shaft will bend from the force. Now he has a very heavy and unbalanced shield or has to toss it. Advantage goes to me. If he doesn't have a shield then it gets stuck in him instead. Then it's just a matter of running up and finishing the job while he's distracted by the spear in his shield and/or gut.

Equipment wise, I would use the same as a Retiarius, (Net fighter), some form of polearm, a net and a dagger. My name would probably be the same as my Username, or more likely "The Insanity" and my theme song would defiantly be indestructible by Disturbed.
