I've been having alot of problems with Firefox lately.
I'm thinking I'll be switching to Chrome. But I haven't used IE since I left AOL, except at school where it's the only browser to use.

I'M USING IE!!!

my school's website doesn't work properly if you aren't using Safari or IE.

Normally I use GChrome, but I was at my school's site earlier and didn't feel like closing IE and opening GC. that would have been 3 whole clicks.

Explorer is so god damned slow at loading itself and it is always fucking adding toolbars that are irritating as fuck. Fuck that shit. Firefox baby!

Firefox here, though I do feel like it is becoming bloated. I tried Chrome when it was new and it wouldn't work at all on 3 different computers. So I uninstalled and never looked back. Maybe I should try it again...

Pros of IE: Barely any. Maybe comfort as a first time browser, or for people like my dad who have barely touched a computer in their life.

Cons: It stinks at reading flash, java, etc. that is now basic to websites. It literally is using the explorer of your computer to browse the internet.

Mind you, I only recently bent down to chrome, mostly because of how much crap the poor website designers go through to make it compatible with the damned thing.

I actually use IE most of the time, but that's just because I'm used to the interface. I do have Firefox installed in case IE doesn't feel like rendering a website, though.

I prefer IE, simply because it is compatable with EVERYTHING.
While that's technically correct, in reality what's going on is the exact reverse of that;

Because 'everyone' uses IE, anyone making a website makes sure it works with IE. As a result, a lot of web pages that SHOULD follow the official HTML specs, instead follow IE's twisted and demented version of HTML, which other browsers then have to copy for 'compatibility' purposes.

So, creating a web browser consists of 2 steps...
1. Find the official HTML specs and implement them correctly.
2. Figure out everything that IE does wrong, then create a 'compatibility' mode that intentionally breaks all the rules the same way IE does.

From memory, Opera and chrome typically have the highest compliance with the official standards;
This essentially means that if it doesn't work with these browsers, then the site itself is broken as far as official specs go.
But, official standards don't really mean all that much in the end; If a site works in one browser and not another, it's likely people will probably switch browsers rather than try and get a few million websites fixed.

I mainly use Firefox, though occasionally I use Explorer. I hate Crome and the only time I've used Opera was to test it on the Wii.
Don't judge Opera based on the Wii's browser. XD

The PC version has very little in common with it except for the ability to smoothly zoom pages in and out.

Wii browser = so minimal it's almost useless
Opera on PC = Brilliant. (though not necessarily hugely better than other browsers around)

QFT. I did Netscape in the beginning then switched to IE when it became standard and haven't really switched. I've occasionally tried other browsers (Recently, I tried Chrome). I'm not married to IE but I just want to hop on the web and do whatever needs doing and, as has already been pointed out, IE works with everything.

I realize it's a point of geek pride to avoid using IE but there are some things in life that I just want to take the easiest path possible. For web brosing, IE is that path.

Opera.
I keep a IE handy and install various toolbars there to avoid doing that in Opera.

HA, jokes on you, I am using Internet Explorer

just kidding, but now, seriously, I'm very fond of Opera, I find it to be an excellent explorer all around, though I do use IE for webs that dont work very well with opera, like the System Requirements Lab and stuff (stuff would be Robot Unicorn Attack game ^-^)
Opera....

Ye-no. No it isn't. No it most certainly IS NOT.

I use Firefox, mainly for the two-click saving of literally any media file I want, and the ability to indefinitely scroll through multiple-page sites...

Good times.

I use Chrome. it's fast, simple and I've grown used to the interface etc. Firefox is my backup browser for when chrome crashes, and IE is used only when I've reinstalled windows (again) and need to download chrome (again).

Except that IE is very slow and has many security flaws.

I wouldn't use it for online banking, for example.

Why would you use crap when there's better stuff out there for free?

Quelle surprise. People don't use Internet Explorer because it's shit. It's a functional web browser, but you've got the likes of Firefox and Chrome which are so much better.

You people do realize that they all basically do the exact same thing at this point and you just want to feel like a cool cat cause you are using a diffrent browser
