I take the comment 'you have no life' as a compliment because the kind of person who tells me I have no life wrongly defines the concept of having a life, and is making a desperate jab at me with an uncreative insult.

OT: Me and a friend once had a conversation about this, and I said that if someone scolded me and said "You play videogames" i would simply reply that "You read books".

And get right back to having a blast, on my own, in whatever I'm playing at the time. I've seen enough 'lives' around me to last a lifetime- some happy, others miserable- and I can't possibly live all of them. It's up to me to define my own life.

This and variations of such are the only correct answers, because they're actually humorous.

Replying "You're the one who has no life!" just comes off as a bad "NO U!" and trying to justify your hobby/lifestyle is actually worse. Going on a long winded explanation of it just because of a small insult like that shows terrible weakness and self-doubt. It comes off as a prepared defense mechanism in order to delude yourself that indeed everything is okay with the way you're leading your life. If you're indeed happy with it you really shouldn't be that affected by such an insult.

So, either come up with a humorous comeback or just don't pay attention. You'll be proving them right otherwise.

Problem with this logic is that people who shout 'no life loser' and 'u gots no life' are trolls. And upon being responded to they will either laugh in your face, or go like 'i hav girlfriend and job blablablahahaha'. (and for the same reason as above, replying that you also are in possession of a girlfriend or job will result in again being laughed at)

I fully agree with this.

They're not looking to point out something helpful to you, they just want to hurt you for their own emotional gain, or start a fight.

Seriously, I used to have friends like this. If you stay quiet, they freak out cause they're not sure how else to try and put you down.

I ask them why watching TV/spending a night clicking around Facebook in which the conversations consist of "OMFOSGIEM;WOJKHKE FRIDAY/SATURDAY WAS SO GOOD" etc. is more productive than enjoying yourself on video games while talking with friends and having a laugh.

They normally say it because they feel that they have no life themselves, and it makes them feel better thinking that those that game, or like maths/science etc. (normally people who are quite happy with their life) have 'less of a life' than them.

To be honest, the term "having a life" is redundant anyway.

As for the topic I just don't give a danm what other people say about having no life. As long I'm happy the way I leading why should other people opinion should matter (well within reasons).

Basically this. When someone says "You have no life" I tell them "I do what I enjoy, therefore I am living my life". Just because it's not your ideal life, doesn't mean it's not one.
