Meh, I can't be asked to say they got no life because then they'll make up some crap and even then they probably do have more of a 'life' than me. Personally I just don't care, I enjoy playing video games, I still got to college and everything, so they can bugger off - I'm alive, well and healthy. What more is there?

Uh, it sounds like someone is making a thread to try and reassure themselves that they 'have a life'; in self doubt that they don't.

"What? I have a life, yeah. Ha-haha-ha-haha..." (nervous laugh continues for waaay too long).

I take the comment 'you have no life' as a compliment because the kind of person who tells me I have no life wrongly defines the concept of having a life, and is making a desperate jab at me with an uncreative insult.
Fitting avatar is fitting.

OT: Me and a friend once had a conversation about this, and I said that if someone scolded me and said "You play videogames" i would simply reply that "You read books".

Ye get me?

Nah, I don't need no fancy counter-argument. Someone tells me I have no life, I say
"Ok"

And get right back to having a blast, on my own, in whatever I'm playing at the time. I've seen enough 'lives' around me to last a lifetime- some happy, others miserable- and I can't possibly live all of them. It's up to me to define my own life.

I get told this very often actually. -.- My combat is usually along these terms, "I have a life, and you can disappear from it at any moment if you're not careful." :)

You sir, have an awesome way of replying to "You have no life!". I personally just say something along the lines of "I know I am. And I'm proud to have no life." Afterwards they look at me and stutter out something about how that makes no sense. I then say, "I think I win here." and walk away.

I'm a gamer, I have many lives.
This and variations of such are the only correct answers, because they're actually humorous.

Replying "You're the one who has no life!" just comes off as a bad "NO U!" and trying to justify your hobby/lifestyle is actually worse. Going on a long winded explanation of it just because of a small insult like that shows terrible weakness and self-doubt. It comes off as a prepared defense mechanism in order to delude yourself that indeed everything is okay with the way you're leading your life. If you're indeed happy with it you really shouldn't be that affected by such an insult.

So, either come up with a humorous comeback or just don't pay attention. You'll be proving them right otherwise.

Or just disregard the comment or atleast ask the to clarify?

Saying I have no life, based on what? beeing a gamer? If life was such, I'd wager alot of the western world are zombies.

I don't think anyone has said that to me, but I'd just do the Freud approach and say their projecting and walk away whilst their confused.
Tell them that they have penis envy. They won't know what hit 'em.
And while they're reeling, tell 'em that they want to fuck their mothers. BAM! The old one-two-Oedipus.

Seriously though, the best way to counter this is to just shake your head and ignore them. If the use of their time is criticising others', then you don't even need to point out who's really got a problem.

Problem with this logic is that people who shout 'no life loser' and 'u gots no life' are trolls. And upon being responded to they will either laugh in your face, or go like 'i hav girlfriend and job blablablahahaha'. (and for the same reason as above, replying that you also are in possession of a girlfriend or job will result in again being laughed at)

Best counter argument: Remain quiet.

Basically, a stupid shout towards you not based in fact or logic should not be responded to by a logical answer. It should be ignored. 8|

I fully agree with this.

They're not looking to point out something helpful to you, they just want to hurt you for their own emotional gain, or start a fight.

Seriously, I used to have friends like this. If you stay quiet, they freak out cause they're not sure how else to try and put you down.

I ask them why watching TV/spending a night clicking around Facebook in which the conversations consist of "OMFOSGIEM;WOJKHKE FRIDAY/SATURDAY WAS SO GOOD" etc. is more productive than enjoying yourself on video games while talking with friends and having a laugh.

They normally say it because they feel that they have no life themselves, and it makes them feel better thinking that those that game, or like maths/science etc. (normally people who are quite happy with their life) have 'less of a life' than them.

To be honest, the term "having a life" is redundant anyway.
