COD 4. I played the game for hours with my buddies. I've never gotten the great singleplayer experience combined with the gripping multiplayer since then. I think the fact that I rarely play with those three guys anymore has something to do with it though.

Be that as it may, COD 4 kept me entertained far longer than it should, and for that, it is my best game.

Just write what your best game ever is.
Mine is The Orange Box (yes i'm a Valve fanboy)just because the amount of value for money is amazing i mean Half Life 2 and the episodes are great,Portal is great and TF2 is great so whats not to like?
That's three games though, not one!

For me though, I'd have to say Mafia, Beyond Good & Evil or The Secret of Monkey Island. Brilliant games and so many memories.
you sir are right i fucked up. Okay my favorite game in The Orange Box is Half Life 2 so there you go.

I find it impossible to pick a game, because there's no game that REALLY amazes me, thinking instantly that it's the best. It's why I hope for TimeSplitters 4, and for it to be good. So it may recapture my nsotalgia and I may finally have a favourite game.

So games I respect even if I havent completed:
The Orange Box. Cheap, lots of games, lots of length and replay value.

The Metroid Prime Trilogy. Good games, and I am proud to own the wii trilogy verison even if it has short-comings. And even if only a 12, the most atmospheric games I've played, and the music itself causes panic.

Viewtiful Joe. I love the cool ideas, even if I'm not that good at it or find it that entertaining.

Dead Rising poses a fun idea. I don't particularly like the characters, but I have enjoyed the sequels CASE games, and I may ge the full game at some point.

No More Heroes. Again another thing I like for being different. I don't mind that the sequel is different, but I wish it had the old camera control, and it told us at least the opponents names before I kill them. I like the beginning of the second one more, but it slowed down after that, and I wish ranked battles gave you money.

And ofcourse, the TimeSplitters games, even though I've never played the first one, and the second seems a bit innaccessable to me now. I hope for downloadable versions of these games to come out.

Though I have seen one or two examples of similar games my favourite game of all time is Kirby's Fun Pack (Kirby Super Star), a rather old Nintendo game on the SNES. Yes a remake did come out but the SNES was a better system to play it on and I felt that other than the boss challenge modes the remake seemed to have made things easier as enemies died in seconds.

So yeah, I'm going against the crowd and holding my copy of Kirby's Fun Pack for SNES up high.

Oblivion is my favourite game.

Hands up, who's surprised?
Second place is a tie between Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect 2.

Ask me in about 2 years, and my favourites will be Skyrim, Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3. I love myself an RPG.

Metroid Prime.

I don't think I'll ever love a game more. Great graphics that hold up even today, great artdesign, good way to tell it's story due to scanning not forcing the story upon you. Good controls. Epic bossfights.

I could write a book about how much I love the game. Part 2 was very nice as well, wasn't a big fan of part 3.

So yeah.
Prime is a masterful piece of game design. Still, the plot itself isn't really good enough itself for it to be the best rounded game.

Honestly, if we wanna talk about games that have really good design, writing, sound, everything, it's pretty damn hard not to talk about Final Fantasy IX. For me, it's consistently the 2nd or best game in the series, as usually my "favorite" tops the list, despite not being quite as well designed (FFVII) or written (FFVIII, although that's a heavily qualified statement. The overall story is just kinda meh, but the characters are great.)

Brutal Legend. For one thing, it's got an amazing setting, is incredibly funny, and has the best gameplay I've seen in a very long time, which manages to meld RTS and action elements seamlessly into something incredibly fun and addictive. And secondly, I've played about 400 games of it and still something new and awesome seems to happen in every battle. Be it a new use for a double team I find, a hilarious new line I've never heard before, a new tactic I've never seen anyone use... There's just so much depth and variety in there.

Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Sim City 3000 Unlimited, Sid Meier's Railroads, Ace Combat Zero, Paper Mario & The Thousand Year Door and Rachet: Deadlocked.
All of these games I've beaten to 100% with the exception of Ratchet & ACZ (which are in and around 95%)

Alpha Protocol(Deus Ex made with modern sensibilities like shorter completion, timed dialogue and modern day 'no secret society' setting with excellent storyline and characters and the first game to challenge America's political views)
Prince of Persia SOT series(needs no explanation)
Uncharted Waters New Horizons(played on DOS box, it is confusing earlier without a walkthrough but once you learn what you can do and need to, it is an extremely underrated game)
Red Alert 2
Command and Conquer Generals
Mass Effect 2

is it okay to say psyconauts? the gameplay was pretty much total crap and the puzzles in the milkman level were near impossible to figure out, but as far as writing and genuine originality go, ye it rocks. Also yes i only saying this because yahtzee said it but he was right so its ok i guess

Also i wanna say no more heroes coz you know, in what other game can you bisect a superhero with a lazer sword while succesfully dodging nipple cannons?
