I played Fable as a Lumber jack... yeah used only the axe and any magic that would be useful to a lumber jack... annoyed me that I couldn't do this so easily in other games.

I love physical warriors. Give me a sword and a target and YARRRRRRGH!

[sub]However, if the way the game is designed makes the warrior a non-viable option later on; I'll avoid the suffering.[/sub]

It's always the sneaky-sneaks.

Being a tank is thrilling until you realise you're indestructible: and if you're not feeling indestructible then you feel like a useless tank. The mage-like classes are fun, but sometimes I feel like I'm just basically a weapon or tool to be used by others: as a rogue or sneaky individual I feel like I can make it on my own if necessary.

I also prefer dexterity-based characters. I often play rogues or assassins but I am also a massive fan of monks in D&D. In DA:O I did play through as a mage and a warrior, but that was because I tried them all. My rogue was my favourite. Favourite character in Diablo (2) was the amazon. In Guild Wars 2 I will most likely be a norn ranger. The only real exception is my Shadowrun character who is a shapeshifting eco-shaman.

I'm a rogue, and an archer when given the option. I rarely play as a mage or warrior-type. In Mass Effect 2, I'm a Vanguard. It feels like a rogue to me. You charge in and do some serious damage while the enemy is disoriented then move to the next enemy.

my class bias is decidedly middle class. I like the middle class, they're friendly, relatively helpful and they either leave you alone or are at least friendly neighbours. not like those bourgeois whores with their sense of entitlement and...wait character classes? I like all classes, but I normally start off as a warrior. though in dragon age it made for some seriously tedious fights, I shouldn't have to run in circles to beat a boss as a warrior is all I'm saying. that being said, I went with the rogue next and well... what an absolute pleasure it was to be able to finish a fight with relative ease, not relying on everyone else to do the damage.

I tend to stick to sneaky too. I'm so looking forward to Skyrim, the stealth attack in the trailer looks pro.

I like Healers in multiplayer games but thats mostly becuase I always worry to much about my friends instead of myself :<

I pretty much only ever play as the sneaky type class, because my reflexes are not fast enough to keep up with tanking or having to react instantly to things.

While I too play as the sneaky rouge, I find a way to play as the battle-rouge. I can't remember what that would be in D&D but my Rouge is always a duel-wielding, assassin-duelist and is able to stomp on everybody hard up-front and 20-times harder from behind. I kind of like playing as a mage type...some times...depending on the game. My next DA:O and DA2 build will be some flavor of Mage I think.

I usually play as defending characters in game. Characters that can take a whole lot of damage. In shooters, I usually play as whatever character can use the most types of weapons. In strategy, I like using characters that can level up so they can take a nuclear explosion while only losing 1 hp.

Quite often, I am either the balanced warrior (for obvious reasons) or the support type (mage, medic, etc.)

Mage types, mostly because if I'm playing a fantasy game I want my character to be as fantastical as possible. If I can make my character non human I'll tend to do that, too.

But also this:

I'm always a Mage. They're the mosst fun for me to use. Fuck running in like a lumbering ox and just hitting your enemy until they die, Magic is where the real fun is. There's just something I find really satisfying about standing on a hill overlooking the fight and casually hurling balls of searing flame into the middle of things.
I reckon I should give more of a chance to sneaky classes at some point because I bet they're really satisfying to play when you pull things off well, it's just that I tend to be impatient and want to just nuke stuff with hard-hitting spells.

This for me as well actually.

It's just that when I want stealth-and-sneaking type gameplay, no RPGs I've found do it as I want. Often you stealth in, hit one dude with a special attack from behind, then it just devolves into you basically being a make-shift warrior-type for the rest of the fight.

If I could find an RPG that does stealth-and-assassination rogue gameplay properly, I'd play as that class immediately.

I usually like playing classes that can operate well in non-combat situations such as conversations and locks. However, I do like using guns. Usually handguns if it is possible.

I usually either play as a sneaky/sniper type, quietly and slowly taking out the hostiles one by one. Or, as an artillery-type character(either magic or heavy weapons), deploying crazy nukes all over.

I can play as anything if i have to, though
