some of what people come out with is truly outstanding in terms of stupidity. i played a few people at my old school who seemed to think that they could beat me, and yet neglected to learn a few vital rules. when i very patiently explained to them that white always starts, they decided that i was racist.Zephirius said:Chess? Racist? ...Do people actually say that? I hate political correctness. In fact, I'm beginning to like racism (as a minority opinion) because if racism (again, as minority opinion) can exist and be freely expressed then I know we are still free. Damn, I hate censorship. People who see racism in something like chess need to stop being closet racists guilt-tripping themselves.Azraellod said:chess. i think it's a truly outstanding game, and some of what people say about it really ticks me off.
i'm ok if you don't like playing chess for whatever reason, and i can generally ignore most comments made about me for playing it, but i will become angry with people who decide that because i play chess, i am a racist.
the idea had never even occurred to me. as far as i was aware, black and white were just the traditional colours. i assumed other colours existed (in fact, i know for a fact that they do), it's just these happened to be black and white. and the rules say white starts.
