I liked Code Geass quite a bit. The second season got kind of stupid with the whole one uping each other in technology but I thought the ending was amazing.

Also, I really liked the first season of Death Note.

I haven't found too many animes that I actually like.

I'd have to say Baccano! just cause I've never seen anything that can really compare to it (Durarara came close but fell flat on its second half). Fate/Zero is great but I also think it's over-hyped by a lot of people (critics mostly who consider it to be the "the best thing evar"). Recently Jojo's Bizarre Adventure was just pure awesomeness it had some fault's but in the end I'm just hoping they decide to adapt the rest of the parts. I haven't finished it but Zetsuen no Tempest is also really good and not getting any love from the public I guess it just fell under everyone's radar. That's all I can really think of when it comes to anime favorites.

I'm only going to list the animes that are better than their manga versions in my opinion.

Accel World had a cool concept with the whole future internet interfaces and brain bursting.

Nothing reeks of manliness quite like Gurren Lagann.

Darker than Black blew me away each season with lots of fast action and great finales.

To Aru Majutsu no Index/Kagaku no Railgun are cool with Academy city being a big lab full of espers vs. religious magicians.

I'm trying to stay away from Hellsing because I want to watch the TeamFourStar parody of the episodes before watching the actual episodes so I may include that twenty years from now when they finally get around to finishing it.

Persona 4 the Animation because fuck you it counts.
I'm really loving Baka Test and I hope to see the next season soon. I just love the comedy and over-the-top reactions.

Favorite anime? This isn't a sexism thread? Thank god. Alright, let's get started. I'll list my top 5.

Durarara!! - The story of three kids and how they get wrapped up into the criminal underworld of Ikebukoro, Japan.
It involves gang violence, a headless motorcycle rider, and a blonde guy that throws vending machines when he gets pissed off. :D

Persona 4: The Animation - Of course it's in my favorites. It's an anime adaption of my favorite video game of all time. But it's not my #1 anime choice. Why?

It was rushed as all hell and the dub is mediocre. Believe me, I love the English voice actors. They're all great. But the way the script was written, a lot of the faithful subject matter was left behind and that made me disappointed. But still, the ending manages to get me chocked up every time I watch, just like the game. Mainly because of this song.

It's just so beautiful.

Nichijou - A cute-ass comedy (or slice-of-life, but I really hate that term) that's all about the random and over-the-top humor. It's very light-hearted and can be touching at some points. A few of the jokes fly over my head because they're based in Japanese mythology, but that still doesn't hinder my enjoyment of the show.

Also, the animation is brilliant. I love the art-style, too.

Fooly Cooly - Because I watched this series in my early teenage years, I can kinda relate to the whole story. I was going through puberty, exploring stuff in the world, and figuring out who I was. A lot of the symbolism about growing up was put to great use. Also, it's really fucking weird. I love all of teh random.

Gurren Lagann - Best described by me as "explosion porn." I think that's a pretty good description. I really love the over-the-top vibe the thing has going. And dat final battle.. I didn't think it could get more crazy than "Hey, were in space with plant sized robots. What'chu gonna do now?" But it did. And I was happy.

This scene contains spoilers. You have been warned.

Honorable mentions are:
Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt
Baccano!
Steins;Gate
K-On!
Cowboy Bebop
Angel Beats
Soul Eater
Naruto
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (I haven't watched that since I was a kid.)
and many more.

I love anime. Without Toonami, I would never have sparked any interest in the stuff. So thanks, Cartoon Network, for giving my childhood the boost that it needed.

I dunno, maybe Madoka Magica or K-ON!.

Shout out to Angel Beats, it's a great show with some unfortunate flaws. I still love it, but it's got a few issues that prevent it from being my favourite ever.

Nichijou was one of the funniest animes I've seen in a really long time, but I'm not sure I'd put it up as my favourite.

Nichibros of course. Never got a constant story line but it was a fun slice of life anime.

And the first half of Durarara. I couldn't bear to watch the rest after that god awful series of plot twist. Seriously, I liked the anime for being cool and not very stereotypical. Then bam! Last five minutes episode ruined all that I enjoyed.

Nodame Cantabile!

I love classical orchestra and enjoy the characters and their progression.

Seriously, that show was made for me!

When I was a child, it was Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets) and Space Battleship Yamato (Star Blazers). Now it's Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I own both collections and watch them repeatedly lol. A close second place would be anything Evangelion related.

Bakemonogatari, it's an oddity.
Most of the show is two people talking to each other but the whole time you're engaged and interested. The art is absolutely beautiful, the rapid animation is so visually stimulating that you'll find yourself wanting to watch a scene again and all the while it convays all of the emotion of each character perfectly. Speaking of the characters they all feel so human and each of their designs match the characters amazingly too. It's the perfect anime in my opinion, feels like it was made just for me.

Gurren Lagann. I have many I enjoyed, but it absolutely takes the cake. Never before have I found cheering like that unless it was a video game.

◥▶Plus Kamina is an amazing character.◀◤
"Just who the hell do you think I am!?" xD Gurren Lagann is pure greatness and is a good show to watch if you're ever down. It makes you feel like you can accomplish anything.

Cowboy Bebop will always be one of my favorite animes.

Most recently I got into Puella Magi Madoka Magica which quickly became a favorite.

The first Fullmetal Alchemist anime adaption, by a pretty wide margin (Brotherhood was alright, but got needlessly convoluted toward the end).
For real? Brotherhood was the way the manga ended. I thought the first adaption was the more convoluted one, especially with Alphonse's alchemy.

Weather alchemy and transferring pieces of his soul? I can kind of understand the weather alchemy, but alchemy is based on reactions, and I think twisters are based mainly on hot and cold air interacting in certain ways. It's theoretically possible to use alchemy to do it, but it would take time.

Oh, and let's not forget the gypsy girl's frikkin' telepathy. God only knows how that works. /nitpick

Not to mention I'm a big Ed+Winry shipper, so Conquerors of Shamballa made me want to throw something at the screen. >_>''

I have several. Most of them are obvious, mainstream choices, but there's a reason why they're so popular.

- 07-Ghost
- Ouran High School Host Club
- Katekyo Hitman Reborn
- Naruto Shippuden
- Death Note
- Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
- Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler)
- The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Honourable mentions go to Yugioh (the first series), Fruits Basket, Eden of the East, Full Metal Panic!. I have yet to start Sword Art Online, but I'm pretty sure that will also end up being a favourite.

Spice and Wolf.

I haven't watched the second season yet, but I've seen season 1 at least three times, and love it more on each watching. The majority of the show focuses on the trading of a merchant in a medieval-style setting, with a lot of time being spent explaining the economy of the setting (I know it sounds boring, but trust me on this one, it's fantastic!) The rest of the show focuses on said merchant's relationship with his traveling companion, a wolf who can take human form and who was, until partway through the first episode, the harvest goddess for a small village. And of course if anyone found out about her true nature, the church would burn her as a devil or some such, so that's an issue as well. Overall an excellent anime, that avoids many of the usual tropes and cliches that a lot of anime falls into.

Another somewhat different anime I like for similar reasons is Mushishi. This one is kinda hard to explain, but basically it's about a guy who travels around exorcising spirits... sort of. Uh, it's complicated, and I don't really have time to explain it right this minute (I'm procrastinating enough as it is), but I recommend checking it out.

Top 5? Seems a topical way of delivering my favourites with the recent return of Lisa Foyles to the site.

1) Katanagatari
2) Kotoura-san
3) Maoyuu Maou Yuusha
4) Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
5) Suisei no Gargantia <- New series, fifth place on the strength of one episode, but I doubt I'll regret this placement. Actually, if anything, it will rise.

Hmmm, where to start:

1) Hetalia: Axis Powers (At first i dismissed it as i thought it was just one of these stupid for girl things, then i started to rewatch and got quite a few of the historical jokes (like how no one can see Canada))
2) Heat Guy J (I seem to be in a minority of most of my friends as i really enjoyed this show, its art style, music and sense of humor and action all hit the right spots for me)
3) Hellsing (88mm Flak Cannon to the FACE, Nuff Said)
4) FMA: Brotherhood (I was enjoying it right up to the end, THEN I WENT INSANE WITH LOVE WHEN KING BRADLEY TOOK ON A TANK)
5) Not strictly Anime but i'm going to include it, Megas: XLR (i've never been in to Giant Fighting Robots (Gundam, Neon Genesis etc) but this show is just fabulous. Highly recommend it)
6) And my 2nd not strictly anime but, Samurai Jack (same as Heat Guy J, just the whole world is amazing. Highly recommended)
7) Final one, Gungrave (Though this does come with a warning, i only enjoyed it up till Brandon Heat came back as Grave. I enjoyed the character and world design and the interactions, i enjoyed watching Harry's descent in to Madness and Beau Billingslea as Bear Walken was excellent for me)

So yeah, i know i cheated with two of those but still, that's my list.

Off topic slightly but can anyone recommend something that doesn't have the voice of Steve Blum in, he seems to be in everything
