Since you can't seem to pick one at your favorite, I would wager it isn't as easy as you thinkProverbial Jon said:Easy. I love me some soundtracks. In no particular order:
The Halo series
The Mass Effect series
Journey
Shadow of the Colossus
Uncharted 3
The Elder Scrolls series
The Metal Gear Solid series
Solatorobo: Red the Hunter
Alan Wake
I love that game, everything about it is amazing. The Madman said:Surprised it hasn't been linked to yet, but Bastion has easily my favourite game soundtrack.
It's the only game soundtrack I'll listen to regularly in a non-gaming environment. The entire soundtrack is fantastic to, not just one or two songs.
No denying that Setting Sail was a perfect note to end on.oplinger said:I'm not going to share videos, or anything. Because it's really the whole sound track, and you should all look it up.
Bastion.
Correct.Slenn said:Riven:
A stark contrast to its prequel, Myst, Riven's music was mysterious, ambient, alien, and gave you the feeling that the world you were in really felt like it was on the verge of disaster. While some may say most of the soundtrack feels like it's in the same key, I still enjoy it to this day, because I can't think of any other game soundtrack that is quite like it.
I remember in some interview that Rand and Robyn Miller originally didn't want to have music in their games because they thought it would disrupt the gameplay. And once Robyn started dinking around with a synthesizer he felt that what he experimented with actually provided some additional ambience to the game.lacktheknack said:Myst in general did their music really well.
I pretend the Enya-video-from-WTF-ville never happened. The whole "Dream Realm" thing was a total disaster from beginning to end. Myst IV was my favorite up to that point, too.Slenn said:I remember in some interview that Rand and Robyn Miller originally didn't want to have music in their games because they thought it would disrupt the gameplay. That being said, there are some exceptions I would make to the series. While not an original Cyan Worlds game, Myst 4 Revelations was alright but it had the very first Myst track to include vocals. The dream-spirit deal with the singing was a pretty big scratch in the record for a decent game.
Myst 3 Exile had good music, but like the original Myst they were too short in length. Especially the intro musics that play whenever you get to a new age. Voltaic and Amateria's theme were my absolute favorites out of that game, but they were too short! They're a minute and a half long.
