There's a genre I completely forgot about...steampunk mechs.
YOU REMINDED ME!

YOU MUST WATCH NOW!!!

If only wars were really fought like that! On the topic of steampunk, I also used to sometimes watch an anime show where the mechs were all speampunk knights and whatnot. Can't remember the name of it for the life of me, but at the time I thought it was awesome.

Remember, you can blame everything EVERYTHING on;
"WITH THE HELP OF KYOJI!"
I'm unsure whether to laugh or be afraid, I assume this is normal? o_O
That was the best fucking thing I've ever seen. Bravo, sir. I was rooting for the butler all along.

Giant mech you say? Well I guess this could be considered a "mech":
Fear the mighty God-Machine! And since I think this is just a Warlord titan, I know that there is something bigger than it in 40k.

Oh Hello there....

My robot can regenerate himself, has superior alien technology, has morals and intelligence, and he can blast all your puny excuses of a robot... also he has a great heart and soul, and is resistent to almost all kinds of blasts... and if you happen to dismantle him, he will just reassemble easily.

Also some of his weapons are made from "Everything" piercing lasers and Nuke Blasts....

So... you guys were saying?

*Edit* also how do you guys do that spoiler thingy? im pretty noobish and would like to know if possible ;3
OMG! I can't believe someone else remembers that movie! That was so long ago when I saw it.

Since half a dozen people already posted Megas, I'm going with the alien mech from District 9:

This battle was better then all of Transformers 2.
I also really liked the mech from District 9. It may not have been your typical "giant robot o' doom" mech, but it had some pretty interesting functions. Collecting the bullets thn shooting them back was pretty cool and it had quite a number of weapons for its size. Plus it weaponized a pig. A pig!

Anything created in the old Mekton pen and paper RPG's. Nothing better than a kickass mech you build yourself.

What beats all the others? The motherfucking Jehuty. Enjoy your big-ass plasma cannons and impractical knee extentensions. I'll be over here with my Urenbeck Catapult bending space and kicking ass at light speed.

How about Naked Jehuty?

Or Some of the Robots in Custom Robo. Like Rakansen
Naked Jehuty is still Jehuty.

Well, you just can't beat Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. No, seriously. I don't think it's physically possible.

I see Rah Xephon hasn't been submitted, so let's throw him in, even though he's not technically a mech.

In other news, this thread has given me a ravaging thirst for mech anime. Sate my appetite.

Eureka 7, G Gundam, Big O, Gurren Lagann, Rahxephon, Full Metal Panic, Code Geass, or Linebarrels of Iron,

My all time favourite would have to be Heavy Gear because it does not break any fucking physics.

Whoops posted before I saw you already added heavy gear. Oh well, DTH (did their homework) ensured that these monsters do not break any laws of physics. The only thing on them that cannot be built today is their neural net computers.

If you must know, look to my profile picture.

Nine Ball is known for insane difficulty, being awsome, having an awsome theme, and causing thrown controllers, being an A.I, and being constructed out of the alloy awsomemanium.

Target Verified: Commencing Hostilities.

The Cybran ACU from SupCom. It's not only cool and have lasers and stuff, it can build a giant army out of nothing.

An Imperator Titan because nothing says "I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU ALL!" like a mile long plasma cannon
http://oi33.tinypic.com/9iuszl.jpg
Pretty sure that's a warlord, a main battle titan, the larger of the 2 main battle titans.

THIS;

is the Imperator, and shows the difference in scale.
Doh I can't believe I mixed em up oh well now we have a picture of the Imperator(SO AWESOME!)

I only occasionally dip my toe into warhammer but did play 40k a while back. I've always liked the sort of psudo-plausability about it yes its crazy and over the top but all of that crazy makes sense in context.

One thing strikes me about the Imperator though, what the hell does it use the chain sword arm for? That thing could cut its way through a mountain. Surely when you get up to that kind of scale you are picking fights with ships (a la Battle fleet Gothic) as well? Guns are just a better option.

Is it bad that this is the only thing I have ever seen related to 40k that I have had trouble buying into?
Well, the actual model for the Imperator doesn't have the chainsaw, in fact I've never come across an Emeperor calss Totan with one of those. It "normally" packs a PLasma Annihilator and Helstorm Cannon on the Arms.
But the chainsaw would be there to kill other Titans in as outlandish a way as possible, plus there might be some background thing about voids protecting less against melee hits, but I can't remember. Because in 40k, why kill it with guns, when chainsaws are an option?

A Tau Crisis Battlesuit. If pressed for an exact model, it would have to be the XV9-01 Hazard close support armour. It's designed for close range tank hunting with advanced fusion blasters capable of reducing many things to piles of slag.

Katoki designs are made of win.
To paraphrase Yahtzee
"Those look like somebody sat down to draw and never freaking stopped,"
At least that's better than what many Western designers seem to do: stop at the box-on-legs stage...
