The RYNO-cirator from Ratchet and Clank 3 has been one of my favourite guns for a long time, shoot it and beams of light fly into a big ball in the air then the screen goes white and when you return all of your enemies are grey goo.
From the same game I also love the Quack-O-Blitzer, it turns your enemies into giant ducks who attack other enemies and lay eggs which hatch into exploding chicks.7

That game is so much fun.

HV penetrator from F.E.A.R. (It nails your enemies to the walls, and it's super satisfying to watch an enemy fly back into a wall and stay there with a spike in his chest.)

or

The Magnum from Resistance 2. (It shoots really powerful slugs that stay in the body of your enemy until you detonate them.)

Just tell us what your favourite weapon and what game is from :)

Mine the hunting rifle from fallout new vegas just love the the damage and range on it :)
Shotgun and variants of the shotgun.

Just for the style of gameplay.

You've gotta get close, strafe to dodge the the side and in and out of cover, and aim up for that instant of perfect aim firing at just the right moment. If you miss by a bit at least you hit them a bit. But a perfectly square on hit 100% of the pellets will hit.

Not the hugest fan of rifles (powerful hitscan weapons with some precise aiming capability) in game, too often you end up camping out at extreme range though I see the appeal.

I also like the big heavy machine guns that slow your movement speed but deal a tidal wave of lead.

Though what I am most conflicted over are the SMG type weapons. You know, the type that fire a stream of low power shots at a high rate with moderate accuracy, those I never found much fun to use for how I have to hold aim on target for so long when I could be dipping into cover to dodge incoming fire. This would also include rapid-fire pistols.

If these weapons were combined with some sort of stun-locking capability, I'd like them much more.

Well, I've got a tie between the M14 and the Famas in black ops, M14 for longer ranges that don't require a sniper and the famas for running around with. Then I've got the plasma launcher from Halo:Reach, which is just so much fun to use.

I'm going to go with the shotgun from half life 2, the dragonov from far cry 2, sledge's shotgun from borderlands or the lincon repeater from fallout 3.
Ahhh the Lincon Repeater, that was such a good gun. I liked the ting it made when you shot it, the click when you put another round in the chamber, hell, i even liked the way you had to reload it, one bullet at a time.

I like the Spectre in Black Op's, its just such a cool looking wee gun. The name is pretty baddass too.

Oooh, I also like weapons like the "axe" or "super fist" or "COD knife"

The type of weapon that kills instantly in a single hit but you have to run up close, to use them. Not the "continuous damage" weapons like chainsaw or drill so much, but a weapon that you can use dynamically in an instant deal a serious blow and immediately move onto the next enemy.

I hate melee weapons that sake several seconds to kill and leave you immobile, even if they stun the enemy you are left there standing like a melon while the the other enemies pellet your body with lead. That's the problem with the chainsaw in Gears of War, also the problem with melee in Killzone 3.

I LOVED the melee in Killzone 2, you could whoop out the combat knife and infinite sprint all over the map stabbing helghast with my helghast knife. I was like heat-seeking pinball in a house of cards.

Well, IRL it'd have to be the L85
Ah, good to see a fan of possibly the most underrated gun in the world. Especially on the Internet.

The L85 gets my vote too. Though only the L85A2. The A1 was a bit of a joke...

Virgil's sword from Devil May Cry 3, the Yamoto. Judgement Cut FTW.
i thought of this but then i remembered the kingdom key from kingdom hearts 2... it has the same power as yamoto except it can change shape depending on the keychain attached and it disappears and reappears whenever you want... cannot go wrong!

Hmm...either it's going to be nuclear missiles or the orbital laser cannons from Command and Conquer series (specially Generals/Zero Hour). If not those then a small to big platoon of overlords/mammoth tanks usually make my day seem brighter :)
i agree wholeheartedly, though that's more of a favorite unit/vehicle.

as for me, its one hell of a decision. in real life, probably the TAR-21. in a videogame... probably the chemical thrower in bioshock. lightning gun, freeze ray, and flamethrower all in one! many a good time was had with that.

I'd say thunder-hammer from space marine or the M-920 Cain from Mass Effect 2, it's like: "Oh I see a bunch of Husks advancing towards me *fires*... -total wipe-out-.

EDIT: I do like the Retro lancer from Gears 3, purely because of the awesome bayonett charge.

The Freezer Shotgun and the Painkiller from... well, Painkiller. Never have I seen a shotgun that was so effective and so cold (see what I did there?) and never has there been a weapon that's both capable of making demon smoothies and hedgeclipping.
