Half my library could probably be considered "obscure" by most people's standards. A sample:

Abney Park, Anti-Nowhere League, Carach Angren, Eastern Front, Inherit Disease, Fen, The Flaming Tsunamis, Of The Wand And The Moon, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio, Powerglove, Red Hot Chilli Pipers

There you go. If you've heard of even three of those bands, I salute you.

You mean "Pipers" or "Peppers"? Cuz, one of those is obscure and the other one is not. Very much so.

That being said, the genre of surfer rock is one I see less and less of. I guess it's a niche genre. So I humbly present Surfer Blood

My favorite bands are all obscure, Bumblefoot, Freak Kitchen, and hell, I go as far to say Frank Zappa is obscure.

How obscure are we talking here? Cause there are bands that don't have mainstream success but I wouldn't call them UNKNOWN (Between the Buried and Me, Cynic, Devin Townsend), then there are truly obscure bands (I, Omega being the main one I can think of at the moment).

For the truly obscure, I, Omega is Protest the Hero-esque, and they are very good. Only one album out so far, from when their name was The Syncope Threshold. Looking for a singer right now though, so I have no clue when the next album will come out.

Alestorm, Annihilator, Claymore (I know right, same name), Coheed and Cambria, Disarmonia Mundi, Korpiklaani, Rage, Sabaton, Static-X, Waltari.

I LOVE Coheed, with a passion. Never heard of the rest though..

Well Mayhem predominantly because of heir badassness... Concerning Satyricon, I don't know. I just don't think they're long haired and corpse painted and stupid enough to be true TRUE black metal.

Out of curiousity is just first wave stuff you consider "TRUE" black metal? Or is it anything that kept the kinda disordered and purposely bad production values?

Sabaton? I don't really know if they are really obscure. None of the people I know have ever heard of them, but that doesn't always make peolpe obscure. Great band tho.

Sabaton are becoming very popular very quickly in the metal scene. Particularly main land Europe.

Anyway my own I'm gonna say primordial. No one seems to have a clue and considering I'm from their country (ROI) that's quite bad
