My first job (and the one I still have) is at Sears. I unload the trucks, sort the boxes, unbox the clothes, ink tag the clothes, put heavy stuff on shelves, individually scan every item to assign it to a shelf, load up cars (with a five minute time limit), take in repairs, bring out repairs, chase down a manager to ring the repairs (I'm not allowed to run a register), take in layaways, bring out layaways, get a manager to run a return when we frequently lose a layaway, answer the phones, respond to pages, deal with a complex system of locks and storage areas, and deal with angry customers. Keep in mind, we sell treadmills, lawnmowers, tractors, and weight benches. Someone gets horribly injured every month or so. I've worked there two years and I've never made a cent over minimum wage. If I work nights, the managers ***** that we don't have anything to do, so they give us busy work like gathering carts, cleaning, or assembling merchandise for displays. I have a degree in Business Administration by the way and I've been desperately seeking other employment with no success.
