Solid character customization. I can look past a lot of faults if your experience and talent systems are good. Dragon Age 2 is a good example of this.

Whats that one thing that will instantly get you interested in a game? The thing which makes you buy games just for having them?

Mine is a good zombie enemy. Flood in halo, zerg in starcraft, scourge in WoW. I love me some zombie menace :D.
Zombies are the most overrated nerdy thing in the nerdverse and I'm sick of zombie fanboys. Not saying you are one, and to each their own, but I just can't stand them.

OT: Space. I have always been fascinated with the universe and all it's infinite mysteries, so any game that has any amount of space exploration always really interests me.

idk i choose games a lot of different ways.

sequel, story, art, game-play, genre, reviews, price...

i guess the only things that really affect my choice is system and available funds.

It's hard to describe, but I enjoy the potential of a inhuman, in-moral, near unstoppable force with the sole objective of ending life on a planet. Yes, I'm a weird person, and I'm also saddened whenever the apocalyptic force is stopped.

Scary dungeons. The reason I never finished Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and a few other unnamed. I have to gather a lot of courage to get through scary dungeons.

Or difficulty. I'm a pussy.
I've never played those games, but this for me too. I'm terrible at scary dungeons. Much more so in first-person games.

fast paced.

Don't care what genre, if it's a slow game I'm probably not going to be able to get into it.

AC was neither good nor stealth, and they punish you more than say, Splinter Cell.

i consider it stealth because the key is to stay hidden if you don't want to run in a slash your way through guards with no point to it at all. the aspect of hiding in a crowd of people to get to where you want to be. and holding on a roof edge and waiting for a guard to walk up before you take him out quietly so you can sneak up on the guard not looking and taking him out with a hidden blade. having a open world also works well so there's more than one way to complete an objective. to me that's stealth.

I like progressing through the game to make my character stronger, whether it be through multiplayer unlocks or RPG elements.

A hybrid (I think I spelt that wrong) consisting of 1st-person elements, and blend it with another genre.

The reason why I love Sanctum, King's Field, and Penumbra.

If when i look at it i get that feeling of power coursing through my body. Or my eye starts twitching until i pick it up and read the back to find something that interest me.
