I second this request. Lack of a MP server is what keeps me from playing Minecraft. Surely the Escapist has a server?OniaPL said:

OP: Multiplayer, unless you're on a friends only server; NEVER leave your chests unlocked and out in the open.

In general, caves just mean less work to make a massive tunnel network. Embrace them.

- Do not enter caves EVER if not armed to the teeth or on peaceful. I don't like heart attacks.
- Do not play on hard mode. I did this once and I was stuck in a dirt tower 20 blocks from my spawn-point for like 7 in game days (then I quit the world) because I was constantly surrounded by creepers, spiders and sceletons. I tried digging an escape tunnel, but the followed me as I dug, so they were waiting at the to-be-dug ext.
- Mark the spawn point and the direction in which you walk. Getting lost and being unable to find your castle sucks.
- Do not play on hard mode. 1. NEVER. EVER. Dig straight down or on the block directly under you.
2. ALWAYS carry at least 3 pieces of fish or pork, and then one or two bread for smaller injuries.
3. NEVER leave home without your sword, your bow, 24 arrows, and (at least) 24 torches.
When I abide by these rules, things usually turn out just fine for me.

I've actually taken to venturing out away from my stronghold, placing flaming beacons at easily visible milestones as I go, so that if I need to find my way back in the dark I just have to follow the lights.
Although now my new rule is: 'Punch sheep and trees, build bed, take it everywhere you go!'
