Moira ... F#*#ing... Brown. Fallout 3. The most annoying voice, the most asinine side quests. I killed her right after finishing wilderness survival guide.

Vanille from FF13. I could, and have, go on for days about why, but lets just say that the ONLY way I could feel anything but hate for her is if she was burned alive, healed, dunked in lava, healed, then thrown into a meat grinder. I HATE HER THAT FUCKING MUCH!

I detest about 86% of JRPG characters.
Beyond that:
Also, this thing.

Resetti is terrible, but Ashley from RE4 is one of the all-time worst. And of course Slippy toad. People always hate on Yoshi, but he was really cool in the first game he was in, Super Mario World. Oh and Raiden form the Metal Gear series. I don't care how weird and cybernetic you make this guy, no one will EVER like the whining &^%$.

Dom from Gears of War, went from badass (Gears 1) to this whiny *****. The WHOLE game he whines about his wife, yes that's a moving thing for sure, but this is a shooter where everything is supposed to be badass and chaotic. Now after doing something insane, cue Dom to start crying. Carmine should have lived and Dom should have died.

I get they were going for more story in Gears 2, but they fell flat on their face especially with Dom, seriously.
But Carmine wore a helmet to protect his head like a silly person, so naturaly he MUST die. As for me, Bayonetta, I never actually played the game but i just dont like what she represents which to me is the appealing to the lowest common denominator in the gaming industry (which is this case would be shameless, immature sex appeal) and dont gimme that "its supposed to be absurd/ironic" crap
I think it's more about Bayonetta being camp...I thought the same thing but the DMC gameplay and the silly nature of the cutscenes really makes for a strange and interesting game. ..With a character with legs longer than you are tall.
im not hip what does "being camp" mean
I'm terrible at explaining things, someone is probably going to have to correct me with this.

A guy walking away from a building while putting on sunglasses as it explodes. That's a campy move, trying to be cool in a cheesy way. But Bayontta seems to know how cheesy and campy it is (trying to be cool) that it just ...works.

I'm not trying to defend the game to you, if you hate it, you hate it. But I think it's worth giving a chance. It was like Saints Row to my friends, they said the game was "gay gangsta crap" and I said the game knows what it's doing and if you sit with it, you realize it doesn't take itself seriously and it becomes very fun.

Like I said, I'm terrible at explaining things.
No i get what ur saying, but its basically the "its supposed to be absurd/ironic" defense i mentioned, but i can certainly live and let live if you like that game, at least we can agree that killing Carmine for wearing head-protective gear (with a headshot, mind you) is silly
-and all the other COGs killed for wearing helmets
Yeeeeeeeaaahh, not happy about Carmine being the South Park joke of the series since he's the best character of the series.

Oh yeah and I hate to be like this, but no one gives a shit about Liu Kang, Ken or Ryu. These guys have nothing cool going on... their gimmick is that they're the "normal karate guys" in games filled with crazy freaks. Please... who would EVER think that Ken and Ryu are cooler than Akuma. Even Dan is better because he has personality and is an underdog. And no one will ever like Liu Kang as long as he's in a game with Scorpion and Reptile and all these weirdos.

As much as I'm getting tired of people bitching about JRPG characters, I'm going to go ahead and be a hypocrite and choose one: Rinoa from XIII. She's a complete slut (seriously, she's the village bicycle) and yet we are expected to identify with her and Squall's "relationship."

Well, if we count games that never should have existed, I would definitely say anyone from Frogger: The Great Quest. That game was pure and utter garbage and the story, characters, and voice acting were certainly no exceptions. It takes a truly horrible game to turn a classic series into a total flop, and boy, did that game do it. Heck, Spyro declined less than that series did, and they've turned that from a classic action-platformer into a freaking god of war rip-off. I mean, there were some really good and expansive frogger games out there, I remember a 2.5D top-down frogger for the PS1 that was awesome, but The Great Quest? I thought it might be good... but then I started it up, and there was a game-breaking bug by the third level... I was /glad/ there was a game-breaking bug on the third level! Oh to be young and foolish again. T.T

I'm trying to think of one from a game that still deserved existing, but after remembering that, I don't think I can really hate any of them the same way...

Vanille from FF 13.

From recent memory, Trip from Enslaved, the first 45 minutes she has 0 redeeming qualities, and from there, she doesn't really gain anymore.

Your error has been fixed because Rinoa was in Final Fantasy VIII not XIII and Rinoa was with Seifer and she had some feeling for him but she completely forgets them once to see hooks up with Squall.

So she's had two boyfriends that doesn't make her a slut.
Thanks for fixing the typo, however, I still see her that way. I recall her flirting with just about anything that moves.

Then again, I have a strong dislike for VIII and its characters. While I tend to like most (though not all) Final Fantasy characters, I really don't think anyone in VIII was good or likable.

do you mind if I spoil the ending and tell you why Bayonetta is awesome?
she shoots the main bad guy in the face with lip stick and yells "Don't FUCK with a witch!" and after that she battles GOD and punches her into the sun.
beside that, it's all tongue and cheek, and a woman did the character design for Bayonetta to be a satire of female heroines in games.

lol @ everyone picking good Final Fantasy characters. You tell those conformists who's boss!

I'd have to go with Quina. S/He's like Cait Sith with brain damage.
Please tell me, what the hell is "good" about squall, titus, vaan, riku and everyone in ff13? these are the ones everyone here are focusing on. maybe its not a question of "teaching conformists" and more about "these fuckers are annoying".

Elanee from Neverwinter Nights 2. Creepy stalker elf who complains a lot is not an interesting party member.
Finally! I always thought I was the only one who hated her.
It got really irritating really fast to hear her scream her, "For Merdalain, and all within it!" catchphrase every five seconds.

Also, Zhjaeve.
Know that my dialogue is repetative and poorly written.
Know that I will inevitably screw up your favorite party roster when I force you to cart me along...

Sorry, working on final papers for the last eleven and a half hours... starting to loose it...

Basically every character that you meet in the first hour of Final Fantasy XIII clunked heads in the doorway of this thread for me. And I say first hour because that's the grand total of time I played that game. I hated EVERYONEEE, even fake Kurt Cobain.
noooooooo, you have to give them time to deveeeeelop as chaaaaaaracters!!!!!

those guys are cool, but i never liked leisure suit larry. what a dick.
An hour is more than enough time. I give way less time to real people.
yeah i know they take forever to develop as characters and most people would have significantly less patience for the bunch of emos they are at the beginning, which is why i used my whiny voice. just letting you know they do in fact become more tolerable as the game goes on.

Squall. Biggest pussy ever. He spends the bulk of the game being an obnoxious ass and like he's some kind of entitled. He's rude, self absorbed and can't even bother to give people fucking greetings. Zell may be an annoying tosser but when you can't even offer back so much as a handshake you're even worse.

and the worst part of it all the absolute worst part of it all. He's troubled past and deep emotional problems aren't even all that fucking bad. Oh boo who you grew up in orphanage surrounded by people who cared for you and made sure all your needs were met and then got to got o a prestigious military academy poor baby. Oh and I know his sisterwas adopted without him but A) he wasn't ever alone still and at some point any rational person would stop thinking of themselves and be happy she found a home. And B) thanks to that god awful memory loss plot twist he didn't even remember she existed so he shouldn't be all that upset to begin with.

He's not a person overcoming great tragedy he's not even a real loner he's just a goddamn spoiled little pussy. He's the video game equivalent of Holden Caulfiled. He's not deep he's not sympathetic he's jsut a goddamn brat
Finally, someone who managed to figure out why I hate him. I couldn't even muster those words myself. I just got a vibe that he was a douche and hated him for the rest of the game.

On that topic, it's a split between Hope and Vanille. Both are rather annoying, and are just kinda stupid at times. I found Nanako from Persona 4 to be more mature and less whiny than those two put together, for Christ's sake. Which is strange when you realize Nanako is 7 years old.
You know a character is annoying when a grade schooler is more sympathetic than half the cast.

Harley Motherfuckin Quinn in Batman Arkham Asylum, I had to stop playing the game so I didn't have to hear her fucking nails-on-a-chalkboard schreeching voice, if she was a real person I would have to fight the urge to knock her out every time she opened her fucking mouth!

and the minstrels from AC2.
They are better than the simple-folk (pc for retards) in AC1, try sneaking around while they punch you with their tard-strength right into a fucking tour group.
