I had $16 burning a hole in my pocket in my Sony Wallet and this was on sale for $15 for Vita so I got it (which means with my luck it will be free on PS+ in April... ah me).

I hear that it is the definitive turn based RPG for the Vita. I need turn based as my old eyes cannot handle much quick stuff on a 4" screen.

I haven't finished a number of games that I got for the thing but this sounds up my alley.

What is the newest game you've gotten (even if it was bought used or from something like Humble Bundle). Your thoughts about it?

I downloaded Warhammer: Dark Omen from myabandonware after watching a let's play and fondly reminiscing how impossible the game was on the PS1 back when we were kids. Turns out a lot of it is kinda random like the spells your wizard gets in each battle and how much mana he regenerates each cycle. I don't think I'll play it for too long.

I got the new Doom game. I got it because I love FPS games and I've heard from multiple sources that it's super good.

To be honest, I'm not terribly impressed. Granted, I am only a hour or two into it but I sure hope this isn't all the game has to offer (just with bigger guns as you move on) because I'm going to be sorely disappointed if it is...

"Oh hey, ANOTHER room that I just run around in circles trying to find all the stupid bad guys to kill. Yeah, this game is super awesome! I see why everyone loved it so much!"

That would be Warhammer: Total War which I received with this months Humble Monthly Bundle. The bundle also included some other games but I haven't tried any of those yet, so really just Warhammer.

As for what I think of it? Probably my favourite Total War game in years. The DLC is horribly overpriced and I had some trouble getting the game to run properly without crashing on my computer, not to mention there's surprisingly little in-faction diversity, but niggling issues aside it's great fun.

If you don't like that gameplay loop I've got bad news for you. Might as well refund the game if you still can.

OT: Deus Ex Human Revolution. Finally getting around to playing it and it's pretty good. Some people hail it as the messiah of gaming but I wouldn't quite go that far. It's certainly more open and intricate than most AAA games that come out nowadays though.

Hello. I am here to crush your dreams.

That's basically the whole game. Except with bigger guns later on. There are challenge trials later on and you can earn upgrades by killing a certain number of a certain enemy in a certain way.

I lost interest about two thirds of the way through when I realised there wasn't even any point to switching weapons. I was literally running in circles just mindlessly spamming the trigger at anything that moved with whatever weapon I had ammo for and pressing the execution button whenever something flashed blue and orange.

Well damn...I was afraid of that.

I mean, it's not like it's awful and it's a fun little game but with some of the words used to describe this game (best FPS in years, return to style, 9s & 10s) I expected a bit more depth and greatness.

Maybe Wolfenstein just spoiled me when I thought of a "Return to Old School Greatness"? All well, it was cheap and it's fun enough so I'll play through it (at least until I get bored).

Invisible Inc, because it was 6 bucks and looked like a turn based tactical stealth game, two genres I love, so why not.

And prior to that, Yoshi and Poochy's Wooly world, because I was in desperate need of something cute and warm and fuzzy and nostalgic to get me past my first midterm slump. It's pretty good so far. ...I do wish people at my school had the game too, though. Literally not a single tag on my Neku Sakuraba Yoshi I made. :(

Nier Automata.

A game from 2 developers whose work I enjoy.

So far it's a flawed but very entertaining game. There's some camera control issues and some frame rate issues, but I'm enjoying the narrative and the game's general weirdness.

It has a unique charm.

I know what you mean. My biggest problem with Doom 2016 is that I feel like I have nothing to care about in the game world. The gameplay itself is pretty good, but that's a foundation that other things should be built on. You mentioned Wolfenstein, and that was the game I instantly compared Doom to as well. Doom feels a bit better, a bit faster, a bit less linear, but I felt like Wolfenstein was by far the better game. More interesting story, better characters that I actually cared about, a protagonist I enjoyed being, and a reason to actually keep playing the game other than just killing more demons.

It's not that Doom is in any way a bad game, but after playing Wolfenstein and Shadow Warrior I had my FPS itch scratched and didn't feel like Doom offered anything really unique. It's good refined gameplay with no real substance outside of that.

Battle Academy by Slitherine Studios, probably the best strategy game making company in the business today. Got it by signing up for their newsletter which I realize was a clever way to get people into the game free and then sell them the DLC later. Their games are discounted on Steam for the weekend as well.

My most recent purchase was Starbound, the new update got announced so I decided it was finally time to check this one out, also helped that it was made by Chucklefish, the studio that published Stardew Valley, one of my favorites last year.

I heard many people call it a Terraria clone, but I never played Terraria, despite owning it, so it has been confusing to say the least, but it's great so far.

Horizon: Zero Dawn. I really enjoyed Killzone 2 and to lesser extent 3, but wasn't really sold on GG's latest as it seemed like an experiment at best. But from what I read and watched in the month leading up to release I had a pretty good idea I'd like it. So far it's taken over my PS4 and Bloodborne has been set aside since 2/28, if that's any indication of how much I'm enjoying it, and I love Bloodborne too.

Not to say H: ZD is without flaws; there are definitely a few things that could be tweaked for the better: stealth is a bit too stealthy to where human AI often especially appears stupid; looting required items is too randomized, but still not nearly as frustrating as other games with RNG aspects can be; voice acting/lip syncing on a few minor NPCs is sloppy, to name the most notable issues personally.

Having said that, these flaws are mostly washed away by everything it does well. In short it plays pretty much like a dream, and the machines haven't gotten old to fight yet. I still haven't seen any of the western half of the map either, where the vast majority of the big ones must be hiding, or more accurately waiting to tear me apart.

One of these days I'll finish it and be able to lay out a more comprehensive take on it all.

Well, it was The Last Guardian, and I got it because I never doubted it was coming and I knew I wanted it...and it was good.

Senran Kagura Estival Versus because I wanted to play something stupid and fun. And I'm enjoying it, although "it's repetitive" is an understatement.

It's also nice to find out what happened to all the girls after the anime ended.

I got the latest Homefront game, think it was Homefront: The Revolution. It was like twelve bucks on Steam for the base game and all of the DLC, just thought "why the hell not, most likely play it eventually".

What did you think? I love and hate that game so much. Like, I adore the core gameplay, but it really seems like it needed several more dev cycles to iron out the issues. Quite different in that respect from Mark of the Ninja (Klei's previous game).

Got Fast RMX on my Switch. Little improvements and balancing has made it a much better package than Fast Racing Neo, plus the DLC and new extra content for the release is rather pleasing

The game I've bought most recently would be LEGO Batman 3 and I bought it because I really like the LEGO games and that was just the next one I wanted to play. I haven't started playing it yet as I want to do everything in LEGO Batman 2 first, but it's definitely going to be one of the next games I play... probably. We'll see.

Ghost Recon Wildlands - it's been a while since i bought a Ubisoft game, but it was worth it. I haven't had soo much fun playing CooP in a long time. This game also has the most beautiful landscape I've ever seen. Exploring it is just a pure joy.

I actually finally upgraded to a Ps4 Friday. I picked up the uncharted 4 bundle. The was a three for the price of two so I got Uncharted collection, Bloodborne and Divinity Original Sin and new copies of Doom and Fallout 4.
