title says it all, what will you be looking for in the much anticipated sequel to Morrowind and Oblivion?

I'll be looking for:

better horse control, it was quite frankly awful

better combat or more range of slashes/moves

less pointless quests and more deep quests

a better range of armour and weapons or a place to create your own model

more than 4 voice actors

less robotic movements

more characterisation to add to feelings to characters

what about you?

Complete overhaul of the Oblivion leveling system.

Ability to name the horse.

Dwarves.

For fuck's sake, CLOAKS AND CAPES. What kind of high fantasy story doesn't have a fucking cloak? Are they that wool-headed?

I just want solid info on the game's progress. I've heard "Not being made" "Will be out in the distant future" and "Out sometime this year" all from reliable sources so I dunno what's up.

Normally I don't do this, but please please use the search bar...this topic has been done about 50 bazillion times, and I wish I was exaggerating. I would post links, but it's late and I have a weird virus that basically disables any sort of Google search. Seriously.

Morrowind had tons of pointless quests, while Oblivion had less quests overall, but they were usually deeper and had some effects on the world...even a few of the randomly-found sidequests (like the undercutting Bosmer merchant in Imperial City) had multiple twists and affected the game world. Unfortunately, Oblivion-haters frequently just trumpet the number and say "Morowingd is beterr cuz it hsa 174 moar qustes olbivion sux lololol".

Simply put, Oblivion was quality while Morrowind was quantity. Combine the two and you've got a winner.

Spears, Multi-player, mounted combat, more variety in ranged weapons (Crossbows, throwing weapons and bows), taking place in Skyrim.
We have had this thread several thousand times. Please use the search button.

guys, it says in the rules of the escapist somewhere that if a topic's in the most recent 5 pages, it's not acceptable to redo it. I check all 5 pages, and it isn't there, so I thought I might discuss it because it is in no way in breach of the rules.

Yes please, to both of those...

As for my own suggestions:

Bring back throwing knives, crossbows & spears from Morrowind.

Axe the fast travel option.

A wider variety of spells would be nice.

Make either Hammerfell or Elsweyr the setting... OR set it way back in the game's history in the time of the Ayleids.

Ditch the crappy leveling system.

An finally (and I know this a bit out there) I'd love to see a "realistic" inventory system, where nearly every single item carried is modeled on the avatar & must be placed somewhere that makes sense and has room for it. I get tired of seeing these games where you can carry around numerous sets of alternate armors and weapons simply because you're not exceeding the weight limit...

A better leveling system. To be honest I actually got used to the one in Oblivion, getting +5 in the attributes makes me happy. But having to grind for 10 skills points in each attribute is just a drag.

Also better and more varied environments. I'm pretty satisfied with the one in Oblivion but it could have been much better.

Also more guild quests and a longer storyline would be nice.

And last of all, FIX ALL THE BUGS AND GLITCHES. While some are funny and bizzare, the oens that absolutely drove me crazy were the ones that halted quests from being completed (i.e. the ones where you have to wait for an NPC to arrive).

I don't know about you but I loved doing EVERY single quest, even the simplest ones. Honestly I don't think any of them were worthless, though some could have played out more spectacularly.

So you're saying that you want to walk everywhere all the time in the giant game world, even to your house to pick up different equipment because you can only carry one set of armor and weapons?

Whatever's cool with you but I could easily see that get tons of negative feedback from players.

That's fine if I'm playing a spell caster or if I find a bag of holding or something and they give a good reason for it... But if I'm just a vanilla rogue or fighter I don't think I should be able to tote around five sets of full plate armor in my pack just because I'm strong enough to lift them...

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying and I don't care if the casuals (pardon the expression) don't like it. You had to walk nearly everywhere in Morrowind and it was great fun...

I think it's for gameplay's sake. I would much rather it be illogical and silly where you can pick up stuff and carry it around, rather than have to continually take weapons and armour you want to keep back to your house. What if you found 3 armour sets that you wanted? you'd have to go back and forth 3 times.

I'd rather the first one, to be honest. Sometimes games have to make the sacrifice.

I know, I know... I stated that it was a bit of stretch. It's just what I would personally want if it was up to me.

Okay I see what you mean, I think it'd be cool to have a sheath for everything, and being covered in weapons and stuff. It would looks so badass.

Perhaps you could hire people or creatures to take thing you find back to your house for you? Thus you can keep the stuff you want, not just have it equipped all the time.

Still not 1 month old(since last post) and it has 20 pages! Every possible idea has already been discussed in that topic extensively. The bucket is dry. Move on with the damn TES5 wishlist. You won't see TES5 for years now save it when they announce the game.

Get rid of the map markers and the fast travel option. It was way to brain numbingly boring finding a cave in Oblivion.

Exactly! Now you're thinking the way that I am. Treasure and rewards are more gratifying if you've got to work harder for them... Think about Halo and other games where you're limited to only two weapons... "Do I pick up the rocket launcher, or hold onto the sniper rifle?"

LordNue said:
Yes but your proposed inventory system doesn't sound FUN. At all. Walking around even casual players can have fun doing, exploring new things and fighting monsters and enjoying the scenery. The inventory thing is just an arbitrary ralism limit in a game about MAGIC and smacking ogres to death with my bare fists.
Hey, it's my wish list, so I can wish for whatever I like, right? I understand why you or other people wouldn't like that, but I think it would be interesting to have to figure that sort of problem out... Also, I think it would add to the immersion factor.

Well it is a bit hard to have dwarfs (well Dwemer to be more exact) in the Elderscrolls lore as they are all but dead.

Capes/cloaks would own as long as they made them decent!!!

Oh and bring back the FLYING HORSES! (anyone who played elderscolls 2 would understand)

horse combat would be good also! why do i need to get off my horse to fight :|
