i suppose all i want from the new game is....the new game...i have never been one to belive that fan service is good...from cooking to writing books to making movies...when you do what the fans want you to do it seems tacky and stupid....so for TES just do what ever you want to do..your one of the few creative engines out there i trust

No Horses!

More quests, pointless and. Morrowind had over 500 yet Oblivion had only a little over 200, sod off.

more than 4 voice actors

A place more interesting than Cyrodill. Morrowind was quirky and LSD inspired. Oblivion was my rich mate's back garden. I want to see something i can't see on a trip to yorkshire.

Unique SETS like Diablo, and uniques that look good. I'm looking at you Helm of Clavicous Vile.

Grime. The good thing about Morrowind was that it was dirty, but still not enough. Make those slums a horrible place to be.

Children

Variety of areas. Lets dip into the plains of Oblivion, just not the crap ones that are cut and paste Mordor. Sheogorad was awesome and so was the paradise. Lets see more.

Birds

Oblivion pretty much introduced A Pub in the Wild. I like going to a pub in the middle of nowhere and finding there's some big mystery attached. Give me a quest like that.

Re-introduce the powerful PC. My character in Morrowind was the reincarnation of a self-made god respected by everyone from peasents to Azura herself. My character in Oblivion was a bloke who knew the short-lived king. Woop-de-doo.

Mines

Fast travel to any town you've been to just from your map? Wonderful idea. Fast travel to anywhere you have been? Destroys exploration.

High Elves are the bad guys. Oblivion paved the way, now let me kill more of those obnoxious bastards.

Grit and maturity, I don't necessarily mean just swearing and blood (though it would have to be TES appropriate like a son of a Khajit or something) but what always peeved me about Oblivion is how the world was pretty much ending and all everyone wanted you to do was petty chores while being annoyingly happy.

I want to ride on a horse, my cloak hanging over my shoulders akaviri katana at my side, through a village destroyed by war, as the snow gently falls, smoke still coming from smoldering houses, crows pecking at bodies as filthy desperate people load as much as they can scavenge on carts. Some staring aimlessly at me, other grabbing halfheartedly at my legs.

Well... ever notice how they all have the same face and voice?

That's because they are a synthetic hive mind, like the Geth or the Borg.

You steal a sweetroll in Anvil and the data is immediately transferred to every guard in Cyrodil, so by the time you get to Skingrad they will get ya.

This even happens if your hidden and nobody sees you. My guess is that the hive mind is psychic or the guards can see through walls.

More like Morrowind, less like Oblivion. Morrowind was the game that got me into gaming, and is my all time favorite game. It didn't matter that the combat was bad, I was in love with that game.

Part of the reason why I was disappointed in Oblivion (despite it having some real improvements over Morrowind - especially in combat) was that it ruined everything that made Morrowind amazing. The foreign landscape, the incredibly unique feeling and immersion that only Vvardenfell could achieve. Oblivion came along and shat all over that with some rehashed Tolkien tripe. Don't get me wrong, I still played the hell out of it... but it wasn't the same!

Is TES V even being made though? I've heard nothing and I am starting to get vibes that we may not see it for ages.

Bring back the variety of weapons and armor from Morrowind, and I'll be good.
This. Well, for a start. I definitely want to see crossbows, throwing weapons and spears make a comeback. But what I would LOVE to see, is Khajiit and Argonians unable to wear boots/shoes or full-face helms again. They were nice handicaps (albeit minor ones) to contrast their fairly overpowered racial abilities.

Oh and also some mounted combat. And the ability to wear clothing items under/over armour. And to need to collect both left and right gloves/gauntlets/bracers separately. And they should also do that for boots this time around. The main two things from Oblivion I would like to see carried into V is the combat system, and having magicka fucking regenerate. The non-regenerative magicka was my only major beef with Morrowind. ;o;

A better leveling system. To be honest I actually got used to the one in Oblivion, getting +5 in the attributes makes me happy. But having to grind for 10 skills points in each attribute is just a drag.

Also better and more varied environments. I'm pretty satisfied with the one in Oblivion but it could have been much better.

Also more guild quests and a longer storyline would be nice.

And last of all, FIX ALL THE BUGS AND GLITCHES. While some are funny and bizzare, the oens that absolutely drove me crazy were the ones that halted quests from being completed (i.e. the ones where you have to wait for an NPC to arrive).

I don't know about you but I loved doing EVERY single quest, even the simplest ones. Honestly I don't think any of them were worthless, though some could have played out more spectacularly.
I agree, sometimes I just wanna deliver a letter from a guy to his love in the next town. Deepness is what you make of it. Here you have effected lives, you just didn't halt the expanse of the realms of oblivion

Totally agree on this. I wish that they brought back that element of a "foreign land" that was in Morrowind. Oblivion has almost no references to the fact that it was even the same world, other than occasional mentions in books. Instead of Gaur, Nix-Hounds, and Kuama, we get Bears, Boars, and Goblins. However, I think Bethesda was trying to make Cyrodill feel more civilized than Vvardenfell, but the civility ruined the atmosphere, IMO. I missed the Telvanni, Hlaalu, and Redoran, and also the Almsivi. It was a bit more "alien," and provided a lot of atmosphere.

But magic.
That's fine if I'm playing a spell caster or if I find a bag of holding or something and they give a good reason for it... But if I'm just a vanilla rogue or fighter I don't think I should be able to tote around five sets of full plate armor in my pack just because I'm strong enough to lift them...

So you're saying that you want to walk everywhere all the time in the giant game world, even to your house to pick up different equipment because you can only carry one set of armor and weapons?

Whatever's cool with you but I could easily see that get tons of negative feedback from players.
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying and I don't care if the casuals (pardon the expression) don't like it. You had to walk nearly everywhere in Morrowind and it was great fun...
No you didn't. Silt Striders. Teleports. Almsivi and Divine intervention.

And it's not casual gamers that want fast travel, it's everyone. Morrowind is my favourite game but having to walk from Vivec to Sheogorad would just piss me right off. Think a little.

I hated that quest. HATED IT. Screw that oath of silence. The worst thing is, you had to restart if you accidentally did say something to someone.

Separate pauldrons like in Morrowind. In fact just re-make Morrowind with the Oblivion combat system.
Or replicate it's feel and magical aesthetic.

Indeed! I saw this thread so many times I can guess pretty much every thing people want. How about a Fallout wishlist? There's a new coming this year!
Then make a fallout topic and stop crying in this one?
Will you post in the other thread? ^^ (And there was a FO:NV wishlist a couple of days ago.)
Dude, crying about /threads is really weak. So it's been done before, so has many things.

A damage system where it matters if you get hit in the leg or the head. Also, a "bleeding mechanic", where you aren't damaged right away, but you eventually bleed some health if you don't bandage your wound.
YES! That mechanic worked really well in Fallout 3 and whilst pissing me off mid-fight, was realistic and welcome.

title says it all, what will you be looking for in the much anticipated sequel to Morrowind and Oblivion?

I'll be looking for:

better horse control, it was quite frankly awful

better combat or more range of slashes/moves

less pointless quests and more deep quests

a better range of armour and weapons or a place to create your own model

more than 4 voice actors

less robotic movements

more characterisation to add to feelings to characters

what about you?
Normally I don't do this, but please please use the search bar...this topic has been done about 50 bazillion times, and I wish I was exaggerating. I would post links, but it's late and I have a weird virus that basically disables any sort of Google search. Seriously.

Morrowind had tons of pointless quests, while Oblivion had less quests overall, but they were usually deeper and had some effects on the world...even a few of the randomly-found sidequests (like the undercutting Bosmer merchant in Imperial City) had multiple twists and affected the game world. Unfortunately, Oblivion-haters frequently just trumpet the number and say "Morowingd is beterr cuz it hsa 174 moar qustes olbivion sux lololol".

Simply put, Oblivion was quality while Morrowind was quantity. Combine the two and you've got a winner.
you, sir, are wrong. Morrowind was better because all of its myriad sidequests immersed you into the world, whereas all of oblivion's quests rely on the horrendously broken voice scripting, which even I found flowbreaking. But whatever thats not the point

What I want in TESV... Morrowind with fallout 3 power.

and no gods damned guns! Steampunk went out with the dwemer!
Also, a more interesting main quest than oblivion. Morrowind had a cool thing going on with ancient vengeance and casting down a corrupt regime and all that jazz. Oblivion just had "Sean Bean wants you to get his groceries!" and a spiffy dragon
I like the way you think. Morrowind had a few scratch your arse quests but it rewarded those who dug deep. Oblivion was just superficial and 'deep' is not synonymus with 'long'. And i dunno how you can think it effected the game world because nothing effects the game world in TES.
That would be an improvement i would add also.

It... it all makes sense now. Ah well, time to hunt down every guard in existence to ensure this hive minds destruction thus freeing Cyrodil from its all knowing grasp.

I never bother fighting them haha I just pay the damn fine. My potion-making character has gold pouring out of every orifice so I never need to go to jail.

It's SO easy to make money in Oblivion... never need to worry about the guards just bribe em!
