1. Hobgolin
2. Old speckled hen
3. Samuel Smiths

I much prefer British real ales to any American chemical-tasting stuff, but I will take mead in preferece to nearly anything else.

Oh you silly Non-Americans. I love how you think the only beer we have here is Coors, Miller, and Bud.

It really depends on what pub and what time of year but for now i'll go with

1) Jaipur - from the Thornbridge brewery in Yorkshire
2) London pride - as long as you go to a pub its been kept well
3) Sierra Nevada Harvest Ale - expensive as its from America but its awesome

Tell you what, if someone sends me enough American ales and Hobgoblin for me and my mates to test the difference, and the American ones come out better, I'll galdly admit I'm wrong :)

Are there any good American meads?

Not a huge beer fan but I do like Guinness, Corona and this other beer I tried last night which is similar to it.

As far as my understanding, mead is honey wine. Yes, we have honey wine. Good ones? Couldn't tell ya, as I don't drink the stuff.

Instead of sending you tons of beer through customs, how about you come over here and try a bunch for yourself? That seems a little more cost efficient.
