Tactical pants more than likely and actual military gear. So what? Quit being baby about a game you were never interested in getting remade in the first place. I've seen plenty of games, anime, movies, and TV where chicks pull of the military gear/police-swat look without going overboard on being overtly sexual, and are still great characters in their own right. Riza Hawkeye, Jill Valentine, Linn Kurosawa, Major Kusanagi (depending on the version), Gally/Alita/Yoko, Shina The Lepoard, Eri and Fio, Leona, Kiyone, etc.

Whatever the fuck that means./sarcasm

The fact you are use that unironically and assume so much/speak of all players show how out of touch your old ass is.
Capcom doesn't care about realism. That's not why they and so many others go for that generic look. If they cared about realism, Jill and/or Claire (at least one of the two), neither of whom expected a zombie outbreak, would have dressed like a woman from the '90s in the remakes, when looser trousers, shorts and skirts were more common than the slim pants.

But they gave Jill the generic slim pants and tank top only a year (in real life, not Racoon City) after Claire wore the same. (What are the chances?) They use that combination over and over (sometimes with a jacket on top) because it reveals enough of the legs, cleavage and shoulders for the horny players without being objectionable to the activist psychos who don't affect sales anyway.

I can list a bunch of other modern female game characters. That combination is so overused.

No shit Sherlock. It took you this long to figure it out? Though the franchise did have sense of being semi-grounded/grounded in its reality enough before RE4, but foreshadowing of them going more over-the-top was there since Code Veronica with Matrix/Drive (1997) Wesker. Everything is a you problem once again. Everything is bla bla, wah wah! I am not getting my mini skirt or shorts even though they're unlockable items, pre-order bonuses, or cheap DLC! You're so fucking predictable that it's really boring.

In the RE2 remake Claire is dressed in a leather jacket, tight jeans, and motorcycle boots because she's riding a motorcycle. People who ride motorcycles don't wear loose baggy pants, shorts, or skirts when they do so (well at least the sensible ones don't, I've seen some idiots wearing shorts and flip flops while going 100mph down the 5).

It really doesn't, it looks like plastic.

Real leather clothing doesn't have that much of a shine, it's a lot more matte. Leather is smoother and shinier than cloth but it's not actually smooth, the grain prevents it from shining the way it does in that cutscene. Leather shoes and boots do get that shiny, but they are shiny because of oil and polish that wouldn't be used on something like a jacket or vest.

It looks like vinyl.

And? Their cloths look just as plasticy. None of them look like they're wearing leather.

Better picture.

The thickness of the shoulders (cap sleeves) and the second layer beneath (looking at the leg openings) makes me think it's leather, meant for protection. Fine, let's assume it's vinyl. Regardless, the outfit wasn't this skimpy. It went over the shoulders more, was thicker and the bodysuit beneath was cotton or polyester, not anything shiny.

The more I look at that picture the more it looks like she's wearing a vinyl swimsuit over a diaper, over a nylon body stocking. I don't know what those white parts are at the leg opening but it is not flattering.

Brawlman, which version of Kusanagi? The leotard in season 1 of Stand Alone Complex was fucking terrible. Always thought so. I mean, Regina is silly too, but it's just a crappy looking PS1 game. Kusanagi's snazziest outfits were in the original manga. (On an unrelated note, Ghost in the Shell never should have dropped the punk aesthetic that was in that manga.)

Then for the sake of variety and authenticity to the '90s, they had to give Jill a different look. Both women? Jill was in her apartment when it happened. Couldn't even give her a different kind of top (than what Claire had under her jacket) or roomier pants (if it had to be pants again). No imagination. Well, I take that back. It's not that they don't have imagination, but that they want to show off the cleavage, shoulders and legs for the COOMERS (since it bothers BrawlMan) and have so few acceptable options.

As for the DLC original outfits that BrawlMan mentioned, I did not use them because they did not fit the realistic graphics. The outfits had to be changed either way. Just wish Capcom had been more creative.

Yeah, I don't love it either. Looks like she's wearing her underwear over her leggings and it's sticking out of the black part. What is this outfit supposed to be? Is this the uniform of the dino fighting squad or is this just her casual wear that she was caught in the crisis in?

Its kind of like she threw some shitty football protective gear over an aerobics unitard or something. Its....not a good look in retrospect. Although weirdly, because the old graphics had texturing of the day, in game the outfit actually looks fine. Not amazing, but fine. Its the pre-rendered shots we're looking at with the detail ironically that make it look like ass on toast.

You'd be hard pressed to find a game that isn't better paced than Ragnarok.
  • Lords of Shadow 2
  • Darksiders I-III
  • Suicide Squad
  • Avengers
  • Godfall
  • Sonic Froniters - Due to the side mini games side and quest being required to do to advance the story.
  • Breath of the Wild & ToK.
  • Symphony of the Night when it gets to the inverted castle.
  • Dino Crisis
  • Resident Evil 6
  • Spider-Man 2 (2022)
  • Doom Eternal Whenever the shitty platforming is involved. It's why I never finished it.
  • TLOUS2
  • Alien Isolation
  • Callisto Protocol

I was slightly exaggerating, but I'll touch on some of these, sure;

TLoU2 has pacing issues, but it's still better paced than Ragnarok. Regardless of one's opinion on the characters, the plot, or the theming, it keeps its eye on the ball. It doesn't add fluff for the sake of padding its length. The very level design in Ragnarok is designed to facilitate all the constant talking, and badly at that. Everytime Kratos puts his hand on the starting point of a climbable wall, you'll hear one of the characters start up a conversation. Same with whenever you get into a boat or on a dogsled. And neither of these sequences are fun to actually do, they're really only there so the game can talk. TLoU2 talks a lot too, but it has far fewer characters it's juggling, nor does the level design ever feel like it's stopping you dead in your tracks in order to talk. There isn't this sense of walking through stretched-out hallways in TLoU2.

Spider-Man 2 and BotW and TotK are open-world and so function differently, but even then they have better pacing. SM2 isn't great pacing wise, but I can't say I felt held up as much as in Ragnarok. Though I know it has a lot of 'Peter walking' sections there was just more energy to how they preceeded overall. But maybe I'm just thinking about how the traversal made the game fly by. In BotW and TotK you really make your own pacing, as both games are the most sandbox of any open-world game.

It's 14 hours plus of pain and misery so by the default, it's already worse than Ragnarok for me.

Not to me, and especially if we're talking about SM2. Don't matter if these games are open world or not. If I don't like the pacing or consider it bad, then that's it. That's exactly how I feel and i'm not alone on that. MJ sections suck, and I rather deal with most of Atreus's sections again. Those are actually fun.
