...This is ONE game in a series where you have been playing as a burly man's man, featuring his already established wife in Valhalla doing her fucking thing of being a badass frost giant lady, as established in lore. Get over your fucking selves and deal with the fact that ONE game having a protagonist with tits in a series is not going woke. Maybe they are just trying to build on the lore that they've been establishing over the past two games that you didn't pay attention to because it wasn't frowny face god slaughtering.
My issue isn't that, it's that western game studios keep over-budgeting, and hiring outside firms who basically add little to nothing of value. They should invest in their own staff, and internal capabilities vs hiring consultants, it's the same issue I have with California regulations, and the one million dollar toilets whereas Texas doesn't do it, and shit gets done. What has Sweet Baby Inc added to the gaming dev space?

OK, do we have any PROOF that SBI or anything similar to them was involved in this? Or are you just assuming because there's no way that the God of War devs could have come up with the idea of a Faye-focused game of their own free will?

It's a little hard to find proof when it's in SBI's best interest is to avoid their involvement in any games, and so is the dev companies as well. But they were in he previous God of War Ragnarök. It's one thing when defense companies hire former generals due to the sector being flushed with cash, but with lower birthrates, and the gaming space trending older the Gaming Space will get smaller. But Sony which is making dumb decisions that pissed people off with it's exclusivity deals, and price increases is already planning on gatekeeping many of their games so revenue is already going to be lower. So why hire outside non-tech story consultants when your own game may not make as many sales, and talent is already in-house to begin with.

Even if they were used as a consultant on this project, Gergar would have no way of proving that their being a consultant affected the game in a negative way so that's why Gergar is complaining about how having a consultant on is "too expensive". It's straight up lunacy.

They don't need it, and every company that acts like a middlemen adds costs. Why not just hire writers? Why do they need middlemen companies?

AHAHAHA. I love it. "I can't prove it, but I know it's what happened, because it fits my narrative!"
What that middlemen are bad?

No. You can't even prove that consultants were used on the new God of War game. You flat out said that. Yet you are ALSO saying they are responsible for rising game costs.

No, not for all the costs, but it adds up. Why are California toilets in SF a million dollars because of middlemen consultants? And of course I can't prove it, but it's a common pattern.

Jaffe, Keiji Inafune, Glen Schofield, Yuji Naka, John Romero,
Should be noted that out of that line-up, Romero learned his lesson from the Daikatana/Ion Storm debacle and chilled way the fuck down. He got humbled hard, and matured from it. And while he hasn't done anything on the level of his id Software days, he's still quietly working on games, doing key notes and panels at industry events, regularly interacts with fans, and such. Guy still gets respect.

Anything that doesn't have strong burly men as my power fantasy and hot submissive women as my sex fantasy was personally ruined by Anita Sarkeesian!

Indie games proved multiple times you can have diversity, and not have gameplay compromises. Ragnarok has its problems, but it wasn't because of diversity. Sweet Baby Inc didn't ask to make a forced walking section that goes on for fifteen plus minutes. That was all on Sony and Santa Monica themselves. Also, Sony don't get to act like they have virtue. Nor should we pat them on the back for it. SBI I'm not trying to defend, but they're not the issues with modern gaming, even if you move them away, or got rid of them. They're barely a symptom. Sony still laid off people who didn't need to be laid off and tried to jump on the live service strain for nearly this entire generation. I'm not going to go congratulate them from breaking off with a consultant company. That's still around, and there are developers still dealing up with them or using their services. Sony breaking away from them is not gonna improve everything nor much. I don't actually, when it keeps jacking the price on these consoles and expecting you to pay more for a refurbished PS5.

Short version: Sony can still get bent and them breaking away from SBI or not does not make me gain respect, nor see them as saviors. I wouldn't give a damn either way. They [Sony] have achieved nothing.

Yes because companies don't lie, or switch venders, and even SBI was basically a shadow organization for a long time that was not transparent to the public. Again this isn't about just SBI, it's about middlemen who don't provide good services. Epic the company behind Fornite brought Unreal Engine and they are a blight on the industry vs Steam, and GOG in the gaming storefront section not to mention Unreal Engine 5 was a shitshow at launch.

Western(and Non Polish) companies need to paid western wages, but don't want to cut the fat besides layoffs which are proven to kill talent in the long-run. Maybe while Asian companies dominate.

Epic, Amazon, and Microsoft want EU, British, and American regulators to kill Steam which is a pro-consumer monopoly which alongside the natural monopoly are the best form of monopoly.

Imagine if Epic didn't spend money on lobbying, wasn't just giving away free games which then people would buy and go back to Steam, be against Mod support, build features, become private, and their CEO wasn't a Musk tier foot in the mouth person.

You can have diversity by diversifying the staff, without paying outside large middlemen companies to do things you can already do in-house.

I read all your stuff. The first time around and you do have a point, but again, consultant companies aren't exactly a problem, nor an inherent sin. They can pay their employees the actual wages they're supposed to, and they can still hire the consultants and would not lose a dime.

It depends on if they are public companies. Because consultant companies likely have a relationship to the executives but the lower ranked staff don’t. Yet it’s lower rank staff that face layoff after layoff some technical consulting with complex game engines for mid-size companies may be needed but we don’t need storyteller consultant companies.

Also public companies are forced to grow their stocks which they do by cutting staff oftentimes.

Was gonna mention that, but I decided I couldn't really fit it in cleanly.

That's your assumption. Not every game needs it, but I am not going to throw a hissy fit about it, whenever it happens or not. I don't bother with a majority of Western AAA games any way, so it's a moot point for me.

Companies like Capcom, Sega, SNK, Namco, Platinum, or Square have either been doing diversity or not afraid of it for years, and only have improved upon their craft. This is especially true for Capcom and Sega. We've seen this in most of their fighting games, or other other genres/action games. None of them bothered with consultant companies much or not at all, but they either did their research or still sought outside help for accuracy on different races and cultures that have not been represented (well or as negative/lazy cliche stereotypes). Again, nothing wrong with that, and is helpful and useful. It show they care about the story, world, and characters they're making. It's why so many people enjoy Street Fighter 6 and its WT Mode. Also, this even more true with Virtua Fighter: Crossroads, and its single player, it's VS Mode, and new cast of characters, while older characters are still around (most of them who were 20 somethings during the 90s), but they are legends and are either in their late 50s or pushing 60.

Companies like them already gave me what I wanted, but I am not afraid to seek others out who do it right, and want to make a fun game at the end of the day that does not screw people over. I like these guys or tolerate them enough, but they should be the only ones, nor should would always expect them to be the only ones in town to do it. It's why I love indie and AA. You're getting people from all walks of life, with different viewpoints and perspectives, and I would not have it any other way.

Okay the cultural wars have to end. I personally didn't finish Stellar blade as I found the combat too repetitive, but I have brought many gooner games (Vindictus, many hoyverse game story chapters, Wuthering Waves, many JPRGS), and played many. I also loved Star Wars Fallen Order and beat it despite the high amount of diversity. I though the Star Wars character for Ahsoka should have been Rosario Dawson who is an amazing actor despite being African American, and not having the voice of the clone wars actor.

But it's gotten to the point that every game is basically a culture wars issue from Balder's Gate 3 to Assassin Creed Shadows to Witcher 4 to GTA 6, and even Black Myth Wukong which in my opinion has a story that I can't even understand that well, and isn't clear cut.

Games shouldn't be judged one marker like attractiveness or whether it has a blatant social justice message. Games should be judged on as a experience that is weighted towards the middle of the game for story games (Multiplayer-only games I don't have as much experience on, but they generally should exist in lower amounts).

Also the culture war iqnores how good the gameplay really is, or the story, or what it adds to the meta of the lore, or the Environment. To gooners there is no longer a shortage of good-looking main-characters in games, and to the people who want games to feature a blatant social justice those too are also at parity. The issue is that the gooner games are masking either story or more likley gameplay defcits, and Sony keeps gatekeeping their AAA games behind their console. If I can't play your game on PC i won't get it because PS5s take out bandwith, space, and have storefront monpolies or I have to use a disc. I do want Ghost of Yōtei, and I will buy it but Sony wants to console-gate me which there are quite a few games I don't want to do the same for console players like Broken Arrow for example.

I will play Assassin Creed Shadow, but looking at the gameplay videos it's got very innovative combat methods that push the game industry forward, but it got overhated.
