Those shorts kinda make it look like she has a giant white bush.

OP: I don't have a waifu. Is it just an anime character you want to bone?
Not exactly. A waifu is an anime character that you like as if it was your girlfriend. Like a favourite character in anything else, but taken a bit further.

OT: Nope. Never have.
Wait, really? I had always figured it was what Colour-Scientist said. The truth is much more sad and hilarious. I've got a serious question for those of you with waifus. How does that work? How can you devote yourself to someone who you know doesn't exist?

I keep seeing that Gif everywhere. Where is it from?
Black Rock Shooter, an anime that in the course of just eight episodes manages to transition from awful to amazing and back to awful.

Didn't copy the image to save peoples screens, but what anime?
A Certain Magical Index / the spin-off, A Certain Scientific Railgun.

Anyway, as for me...

The word has apparently gone through evolution and etc. etc. A lot of people here are using it in the way Color-Scientist said, but there are also many who...*sigh*...aren't.

For the sake of clarity and your own safety, you should probably distinguish between "characters I am sexually attracted to" and "waifus". Actually, better idea: don't post in threads about waifus unless you plan on posting a picture of Nathan Fillion, a creepy guy (who is not Nathan Fillion), or some barely human lady that will give everyone nightmares. Or ponies, but not Rule 34 ponies. Just regular ponies.

He's wrong.

It's pretty much just a character you really, really like. They don't devote themselves to the character, they just really like her. A favourite character. Not taken a bit further.

Morrigan from Dragon Age: Origins.

She'd never even look at me in reality, but fuck it. Her writing is great, she's pretty, and she's very unique. Her whole aesthetic of a savage witch, the banter she has with the other characters, and the fact that she actually ADHERES to her strangely nihilistic beliefs throughout the whole story rather than being changed (a lot) by the sappy actions of the protagonist.
You forgot that she is voiced by the beautiful Claudia Black.[/quote]

Claudia Black doesn't really hit my spot. She's attractive, don't get me wrong, but her jaw's a bit too manly for me. And since the face is what I (try to) look for most in a girl besides personality, it kinda condemns me.

So a Waifu is a crush on a fictional character? Why are we using Japanese words to describe that?

Pretty sure waifu is more along the lines of an anime character (normally female) that someone feels attached and attracted to, usually to the point where they don't have the greatest grip on reality.

Hence the creepiness factor.
Well it's just a thread for fun, I'm going to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and say that we're not creepily obsessed with the characters we find attractive.

Waifu? No. I loathe everything that word represents.

Favorite female cartoon character?

I am Akihiko Sanada's Waifu.
Both
Tezuka Rin
and
Tohsaka Rin
are my Waifu.

Don't think to far into that, I think it makes sense.
Probably.

I have no idea, the whole thing just confuses me. There was a thread recently called "RL girls are 3d pig disgusting" or some nonsense like that, it was about how some people find real women disgusting because they have bodily functions and might not like you.... it was weird as shit.

WHAT ANCIENT TOME OF ELDRITCH HORROR HAS MADE ITS CONTENTS KNOWN TO ME

Ahem.
From what you posted I have to assume that a 'waifu' is an anime character you have a crush on.
Well. I don't watch anime, so there's that.
I don't think I have a crush either.
And a fictional crush sounds a little bit... off.

Edit: Nevermind. Read thread.

Yes, I know. I can't keep her all to myself. Fluttershy is everyone's waifu. But still...
