At 16 I dated a classmate, so same age. Next gf was when I was 18 ... she was 32. Much more than that (from a guy's perspective) is a bit odd. Never been with a younger chick ... I have the feeling I'd be irritated by them, though.

Well, let's look at the standard:

Your age, divided by 2, plus 7.

So, 16, divided by 2 is 8, plus 7 is 15.

So 15 is the minimum age. Now, in order to find the maximum age, we must find out the how old someone can be and still date a 16 year old. So...16 minus 7 is 9, times 2 is 18.

So...Anywhere between 15 and 18.

At 16, my range was about 14-19. That's really been my consistent scaling range for all of my life that I cared, two years younger to three years older.

Well Im 19 and I've dated a 14 yo. It really just depends on how much I click with the person. Age doesn't really matter. A year is just 300 days. If that's all that's stopping me from being with someone I like....then screw it.

im 17, but i would only date someone from 16 - 19.
off subject....your avatar is f'ng awsome

being 34?...i tend to date my age or older....i can probly land a 24yo, but that would take some luck

when i was younger at 13 i was dating a 16yo (and being the only guy in middle school that their gf would pick them up from school was a bit odd)
when i was 19/20...i was dating a 16yo who had hinted she wanted to go out w/ me to a girl i was kinda dating (it was a friend of hers) and honestly there wasnt much of a difference in maturity, and me a said girl ended up having a relationship for a few years, parents loved me, hell i even sat in the same room w/ her mom while she tried on prom dresses wearing nothing but a thong (that was a bit odd, but in retrospect not really, it wasnt anything that me or her mom hadnt seen before and were well aware of it)

Half your age plus 7 is minimum.

Your age plus half is maximum.

So 18.5 and 35.5, respectively.

When I was sixteen I wanted a guy who was exactly two years older than me (for some reason, I felt that this was the perfect gap...)

I have always preferred older men, as girls mature faster and it's the only way I've been able to find someone I felt comfortable with. When I say older though, I suppose the biggest gap was 7 years. I'm certainly not looking for the Hefner age gap =P (besides, it'd be a stretch to all him mature in any other than the sexual sense anyway =P)

At 16 I would go as high as 18, but would not go lower than 15.

At 21 (current age), I would go as high as 24 and as low as 18.

At 16? 2 years either way. Currently 19, and my absolute youngest would be 16, considering I'm currently in a relationship with a 16 year-old.

Your age divided by 2 is how many years you can stray from your age without it being creepy. For a sixteen year old, that's about 14-18.

Personally, I wouldn't have dreamed about dating anyone younger than 15 when I was sixteen, or older than me period.

At 20 (my age now) I can't date men (or women for that matter) younger than myself.... Even my limit for youngest is older than me, it always has been, I can't do younger... I always feel like they're emotionally... odd.... me dating a 21 year old at 16 wouldn't have been weird for me at all... I just hated people my own age, they were all too immature. Hell at 12, I had (and still do have) a thing for Alan Rickman (I don't care what you say he's DAMN sexy :3) and he's 65.... >.>

The younger person's number in the ten's place multiplied by 2.5 years. If the older person's age is within the number of years of the calculated person then it is okay.

If:
person 1 is aged 31
person 2 is aged 23
we have (2) x 2.5 years = 5 years
The oldest person I'd say is acceptable for a 23 years old to date would be 28, so not acceptable.
You think that two fully grown, consenting adults of differing age being in a relationship is unacceptable? Really? Trying to put a limit on who adults can date based on years is idiotic at best.
This confuses me as well.

I'm pretty sure the law has all the rules about this covered.. minimum ages, rules about people in positions of power, etc.

If two people are adults, what is the problem?

At 16 I thought kids of my age to be pretty immature, and was routinely mistaken for 18-20. I sort of dated accordingly.

First asking for one's age is a bit backwards. Just go with whomever fits - chances are he/she is within about a year or two of your age.

Here's my breakdown, If the younger person is in the age range of... then they are allowed to date ... years older:
0-9/0 (no dating)
10-19/2.5
20-29/5
30-39/7.5
40-49/10
50-59/12.5
60-69/15 (at around this age, I think they're out of the dating game)
70-79/17.5
80-89/20 (by this range, They should be out of the dating game)
90-99/22.5 (I'm not sure there are any 121.5 year old that are thinking of dating >.<)

at age 16, up to 19 (16.5+2.5=19)
at age 24, up to 29 (24+5=29)
The youngest I could go is 20.

This really doesn't have much to do with the maturity of the people, but the age range of the people around them. When I hear a 23 year old is dating a 15 year old I don't think, 'that music be one mature 15 year old', I think 'that must be one immature 23 year old.' in your friends case of 16 to 21: unacceptable, but I'd be okay with both dating 19 year olds; That's reasonable.
I just stick to /2 + 7.

It's a lot better and more accuarate.

16/2 + 7 = 15, which we've agreed on.

18/2 + 7 = 16, again what I would accept.

40/2 + 7 = 27 Which is the cutoff for where the rule can safely be applied, because otherwise you get 90 year olds with 52 year olds etc.
