Believe it or not, I have a friend that is in a similar situation. She's 16 and dating a 19-year-old college student.

As for me, I'm 17 now, and I'd rather not talk about my relationship last year. But I did have a rule: same age to 2 years older, never anyone under.

I am 16 now. I would probably go as high as 18, but I wouldn't go lower than 15. I'd much prefer to date people close to my own age.

In my opinion, the only reason age matters is legal repercussions. Given that I'm currently 20, the lowest would be 18 and the highest would be like...not dead? Of course, this is assuming a romantic relationship as opposed to a sexual relationship which I would be opposed to getting involved in.
This person speaks what I can only assume to be the one stance of the reasonable person.
Well, life styles change throughout life as people want and need different things. It may be very reasonable to hold off a relationship with someone because the gaps in life are simply too big.

To answer this question civilly, it doesn't matter what everyone else's age preference is it only matters what your own preferences are

This actually came up recently for me. I was in McDonalds late one night with a mate, drunk off my face and feasting on McNuggets. This girl came up, and started chatting me up. She kept on trying to hug me and was hitting on me pretty fierce. I had the presence of mind to ask her how old she was. She didn't answer. Being a crafty ************, I asked what school she went to.

"[school name]" First warning sign. But that school teaches up to year 12, which is 17-18 years of age.

I say: "I don't believe you. Prove it."

She pulls out her school ID. I grab it, check the back.

Her birth age? XX/XX/1996. I'm 19.

Oh shit. She's 15.

I tell her that she is way too young, I'm not a pedophile, and I left.

Drunken craftiness at its finest.

Well, I am currently 16 so this should be easy for me to answer...

I'd have to say something like 15-24 would be my limits for a number of reasons:

I don't want to go much younger than myself at the moment due to people changing in personality quite drastically over those years.

I get mistaken for a 22 year old sometimes which would mean that I could go with older people without them feeling as awkward.

In the end it comes down to whether we like each other or not rather than ages... Age is just something to remember once per year for birthdays.

I wouldn't have dated when I was 16. I regarded it as unimportant at the time; now, with the benefit of hindsight, I consider it to be a perversion for an adult of any age to date a teenager, and extremely distasteful for teenagers to be dating at all.
This, so much. Then again, I'm 17 and think romance as a whole is stupid and a waste of time, which I've believed since I was 15.

At 16? God, nothing older than 17 nor younger than 15 and 6 month. As you get older though, the range increases.

Well, I'm 16 (March, 1995), and I'm dating a girl that's turning 18 in September, I'd say that's about my limit for a girl being older than me.

I'd say a two year difference is okay at younger ages. It makes less of a difference the older you get, as maturity levels kind of even out between ages, but when you're younger, it can change everything.

At 16 I would date a particularly mature 15 year old, but no younger than that. And as for older? I'd have gone up to about 19-ish.

So many posts and so few mentioning the half + seven rule.

X = 0.5Y + 7

X is the lowest you can go.
Y is your age.

When I was 16, I dated a girl who I met just as she had turned 14. I wasn't entirely comfortable with that, and it didn't last.
The youngest I would date now [at 20] is 17, the oldest 23. But at this age, those three years make for pretty drastic differences in lifestyle. Most 17 year olds are not yet in college, while the 23year olds have graduated.

16 low, 30 high.

I'm 23 now and that hasn't changed - 16 low and 30 high. 16 is legal where I come from, but it'd take someone special to catch my interest, because young girls are full of shit.

My ex was 16 when we met. I was 20. Don't judge the guy if you have absolutely no idea about the situation.

At 16 I would really only date as low as 15 maybe going up to 17 or eighteen if I had already moved up to 6-form.

Now at Nighteen I would date a seventeen year old and currantly am dating a twenty-one year old.
